You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. It is meant for school staff only – a sort of room of requirement for school staff to let off steam.

Baiters, haters, goaders, and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

If you are NOT staff and just have a general education query please start your own thread.

Do not give the staffroom password to non-staff as it attracts the wrong sort of crowd.

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes, and the ability to sniff out where the booze is stashed - Thirsty Tuesdays, Fizz Fridays now in operation. Do not sit on the chairs and do wear a mask. Finally, upload your covid test results twice a week on Wednesdays and Sundays.

Wow that's major Staff Shock
Anyone around to hold me back from going in with an honest response to one of our tb colleagues? I don't think I'm on a final warning...

DollyMixtureLulus · 23/06/2021 20:44

Don't do it Mistress if it'll only annoy you more!

Mistressiggi · 23/06/2021 20:46

Are you sure?

noblegiraffe · 23/06/2021 20:46

Hide the thread, she’s only doing it to wind people up. Don’t give her the satisfaction.

Piggywaspushed · 23/06/2021 20:47

Leave it,leave it! She's not worth it, bruv.

Iamnotthe1 · 23/06/2021 20:51

What's a tb colleague?

noblegiraffe · 23/06/2021 20:52

Twatbag.

Although it’s supposed to be teacher basher, they are interchangeable.

RuleWithAWoodenFoot · 23/06/2021 20:57

If they are going to say no isolation for child close contacts, then there is no point to track and trace for adults either. No point in isolating. Same rules apply - 'they've' had the chance to get vaxed, if they don't then it's their fault if they are ill.

Iamnotthe1 · 23/06/2021 20:58

Ah. A Tiresome Bastard?

Speaking of teacher bashing. Today, on thank a teacher day, I got a grand total of zero thank yous but several very snotty and/or arsey emails about something we are doing to go above and beyond to give the kids a really nice experience. Feel like not bothering with any of it now.

MrsHerculePoirot · 23/06/2021 21:02

jan apologies in advance for the sweariness.

But fucking hell I’ve had one of those days. Absolute rage with everyone and everything. Think I’ve cried more than I haven’t. Just Fuck This Shit. We’ve had a positive and loads of one year group sent home and their sibling in a different year… who if they now test positive will take out loads of another year group. Extra curricular clubs just started again though so that’s good. I want my room back. I want to sit in the staff room with my friends/colleagues. I want to enjoy my job again.

I’m going to bed soon so that today can end and it can be tomorrow.

Mistressiggi · 23/06/2021 21:02

I would hate to think I worked with anyone who thinks like she does.
Will console myself with thoughts of imminent holidays Smile

Iggi999 · 23/06/2021 21:06

Oh, sorry MrsHP. I hope this will pass. Some days are best put in the bin. Flowers
I'm used to the TBs, put the TBTs (teachers who bash teachers) are a different case!

And the annoying thing is that sometimes, those TBTs are not actually teachers Angry

One day, Mrs H, one day Flowers

Have some Cake with us in the meantime

noblegiraffe · 23/06/2021 21:14

MrsHP that sounds shit. Have all the wine. Chocolate. Scream into the void. Hopefully tomorrow will be better Flowers

JanFebAnyMonth · 23/06/2021 21:28

(We need to differentiate between Mrs H and MrsHP)

So sorry, MrsHP, and Staff. Please feel free to swear in front of me especially if it helps you feel better!

This is slightly heartening, a doctor asking U4T to actually suggest some solutions instead of just saying No:

MsAwesomeDragon · 23/06/2021 21:41

Sorry you're feeling that way MrsHP. I hope life gets back to normal ish for us all very soon. Flowers

I had my appraisal today, and was told off for underselling myself and to go back and upgrade my self assessments of certain things. So that was nice. I've done no school work at all tonight, I even left my laptop at school (with IT support as they need to upgrade something).

LolaSmiles · 23/06/2021 21:49

Sorry to hear about your rubbish day MrsHP. FlowersCake

Chloe is right. Many of the TBTs are unlikely to be actual teachers, some might be but they're the ones to stay away from in the staffroom.

MrsHamlet · 23/06/2021 22:09

We're surge testing tomorrow and Friday.
This week can fuck off.

HarrietDVane · 23/06/2021 22:44

Hello all and GinThanks to all in need. It seems to have been a bad day all round - it's been a day full of safeguarding paperwork for me; second one this week. I didn't get out of school until gone 7.30pm and I have therefore not touched my mountain of marking. I really need it to be the summer holidays now.

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 23/06/2021 22:45

Hope tomorrow is better for you MrsHP.

And that this week fucks off quickly for anyone else that needs it too.

TheHoneyBadger · 23/06/2021 23:02

Sleep it off MrsHP - agree some years days are rubbish and can go in the bin.

Some TBTs as we learnt are either fictional or as per one example somehow simultaneously a midwife on maternity leave and a teacher in both a state and a private school. Oh and they frequently have husbands who are hospital consultants it seems. Whatever!

CoRhona · 23/06/2021 23:12

Positive cases are all around us, our head says every week we should expect some at our school. Whole year groups are off in schools near us. So far we seem to be relatively unscathed famous last words...

RuleWithAWoodenFoot · 23/06/2021 23:12

Today was spectacular in the behaviour department. It's not the big things that are getting to me most, it's the constant low level stuff that is still massively disruptive.

I kept a tally of 'silly noises' made today while I was doing the input to a lesson. I stopped counting after 3 minutes - 14 silly noises. Fart noises, squeaks, beeps etc. I mean, I know it's a challenging class in terms of diagnosis, but it's intolerable at this time of year, when patience is at a LOW.

Mistressiggi · 23/06/2021 23:22

I've had my first "chair sawed through with a mask" today. Hmm
