You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. It is meant for school staff only – a sort of room of requirement for school staff to let off steam.

Baiters, haters, goaders, and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

If you are NOT staff and just have a general education query please start your own thread.

Do not give the staffroom password to non-staff as it attracts the wrong sort of crowd.

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes, and the ability to sniff out where the booze is stashed - Thirsty Tuesdays, Fizz Fridays now in operation. Do not sit on the chairs and do wear a mask. Finally, upload your covid test results twice a week on Wednesdays and Sundays.

I’m amazed she has the time to sit and write such utter shite. Wasn’t she a lawyer-or does she just get paid for making stuff up now instead?!

motherrunner · 20/06/2021 09:30

Molly Kingsley should get into writing dystopian fiction. Actually sounds a pretty good opening to a novel!

DreamingofBrie · 20/06/2021 09:30

That is a steaming pile of bollocks and makes me angry. She's demonising the wrong people.

How I'd love to put Molly in front of my former Y11 Set 7 for a couple of weeks.

Reminds me a bit of Katie Hopkins!
motherrunner · 20/06/2021 09:35

I actually think Emma needs to also wear a different uniform or brand to further highlight how ‘dirty’ she is. Maybe all the ‘dirties’ should attend a different school? I read way too much dystopian fiction!

noblegiraffe · 20/06/2021 09:45

Surely Molly would just say that the 'Dirties' should homeschool, because that's what they always said the vulnerable kids should do?

Oooh, maybe in a later chapter, a volunteer army of brave Us4Themers step up to teach the 'Dirties'? Whatever happened to that plan?

The Us4Ourselves lot are too busy being society's version of the 'Dirties' after they've obviously refused the vaccine too. Oh wait...
motherrunner · 20/06/2021 09:48

Yes @noblegiraffe. And whilst this is all happening the rest of us are turning into zombies because of the vaccines weren’t vaccine after all and then all the Dirties have to defend all of humanity.

Me too. I would definitely have put the "dirties" in a different school, with the unvaxxed teachers (not that I know any teachers who aren't getting the vaccine as soon as they can).

Negative tests for dd2 and me (I only did one to show her how to do it, I would have been shocked if it had come back positive). So dd1 is now allowed to go and do some clearing of her uni accommodation, yay!!! I don't think there's space in our house for any more stuff, but I think there's still a lot of stuff to go to the tip come back

What is in The ST is quite mild by comparison : just that ending at 3 doesn't suit working parents. Boo Hoo. I am sure she can afford a bit of wraparound care which everyone seems to have conveniently forgotten exists. I assume she wants it for free.

She has just become rent a gob. The trouble is , so have Teacher Tapp.

DreamingofBrie · 20/06/2021 09:55

Are comments open under Molly's article? I'd love to see your further chapters added 😁.

noblegiraffe · 20/06/2021 09:59

No comments, sadly. Or probably, for the best, for Molly.

just that ending at 3 doesn't suit working parents.

Confused neither does ending at 3:30? When does she want school to end, 6pm?

WhenSheWasBad · 20/06/2021 10:02

Which is why most primary schools have breakfast clubs and after school clubs.

ChloeDecker · 20/06/2021 10:07

I might start boycotting Teacher Tapp if clicking 'we have staggered starts or ends' leads to the ST to take the data and declare lots of schools finish at 2. A staggered end can mean 5 mins early! Also they say schools haven't returned to 'pre pandemic' hours. Has it finished then??

Or staggered ends (so that public busses and trains are not overrun with kids all at once (on our long road, we have three secondary schools)) are 5 mins early for Yr 7 and 8, 5 minutes late for Year 9 and 10 and was 15 minutes later for year 11s and sixth form, so many more had more time in school not less. Sounds like Teacher Tapp had some issues with their questions this time Hmm

Molly Kingsley's latest is whining about 3pm finishes.

We finish lessons at 3pm normally but we also start form time at 8am and have 10 minute break, have 45 minutes for lunch and we pre-Covid, run after school clubs after that and then meetings after. The lack of context is extremely frustrating.

Appuskidu · 20/06/2021 10:10

I don’t like the teacher Tapp questions about how many hours you’ve worked that week. If I answer and say 38 that might sound like a reasonable workload but as I’m part time, it is very misleading!

noblegiraffe · 20/06/2021 10:13

Yeah they know I'm part time but I don't know if they take that into account.

DreamingofBrie · 20/06/2021 10:14

I would have thought so!

Appuskidu · 20/06/2021 10:16

I did email them once and ask them how useful questions like that were and the reply was very wooly and said something about how it all balances out, so I’m not sure they do take being part time into account.

Yes.
MsAwesomeDragon · 20/06/2021 10:46

State school finish times have never suited working parents. My dad was a sahd for the 9 years that one of us was at first school, for just that reason. And once we were all at secondary/middle school he got a job in a local shop that was happy for my sister (only 9 at the time) to walk there after school and "help" in the shop (eat biscuits and chat to the customer children).

MsAwesomeDragon · 20/06/2021 10:49

I meant to say, times have changed since then, obviously. Dd1 went to breakfast club and after school club up to the end of year 5, then came home alone in year 6 (I was home by 5, she wasn't left for hours). Dd2 had a childminder from birth to year 5, then again, she comes home to an empty house now in year 6 (although dd1 is currently home so it's not an empty house now, but will be once dd1 finds a job).

noblegiraffe · 20/06/2021 10:49

Molly seems awfully keen for her kids to spend as much time in school and out of the house as possible, which is weird given how much she hates teachers.

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 20/06/2021 11:06

How much are you willing to bet that she would be unhappy with tax increases to fund better wrap around care?

I’m all for more accessible, more affordable wrap around and holiday care to help working parents, especially single parents. It does need paying for though.

DollyMixtureLulus · 20/06/2021 11:21

I’ve been really surprised about the people not taking it. One of our younger teachers is very anti vax.

4 days left to go for us! Hoping it stays dry and we can get them all outside as much as possible. I’ve got Toy Stories 1-4 as back up and I am in the mood to be argumentative on any threads whining about it.
