You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. It is meant for school staff only – a sort of room of requirement for school staff to let off steam.

Baiters, haters, goaders, and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

If you are NOT staff and just have a general education query please start your own thread.

Do not give the staffroom password to non-staff as it attracts the wrong sort of crowd.

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes, and the ability to sniff out where the booze is stashed - Thirsty Tuesdays, Fizz Fridays now in operation. Do not sit on the chairs and do wear a mask. Finally, upload your covid test results twice a week on Wednesdays and Sundays.

rule you must get PCR tested if you have been coughing non stop! Don't go in!

U4T are on the coronavirus boards with their ant vaxxing kids thing. They all merrily vaccinate them against flu, mind.

MsAwesomeDragon · 26/05/2021 07:05

Have you done a PCR test rule? It sounds like you need one. And even if you've already done one and it came back negative, you don't sound well enough to be at school. Stay at home and rest.

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 26/05/2021 09:42

U4T Twitter has been looking increasingly anti vax for a while.

Definitely get a test if you haven’t already rule. And take the day off anyway. You really don’t sound well.

KatherineOfGaunt · 26/05/2021 11:14

Hello everyone. Haven't been around for ages, but trying to cut down on my screen time.

I need some sympathy. Bubble has popped so I'm home. It looks like my lovely family holiday (with siblings and parents) over half-term won't be happening. I'm actually, very, very upset. The bubble hasn't popped at all ever, so the fact it has now, right before my much-needed and anticipated holiday, is so absolutely gutting.

JanFebAnyMonth · 26/05/2021 11:34

Hi @KatherineOfGaunt, and I’m so sorry to hear about your holiday. The world is cruel at times. But it’s lovely to have you back here. (Small consolation, I appreciate!)

Dominic C is slating Matt H (among other things and people) at the Select Committee hearing.

DanglingMod · 26/05/2021 11:59

That's such bad timing, KoG Flowers

motherrunner · 26/05/2021 12:11

‘Dept for Ed had no plan’. Don’t have to tell us that!

www.bbc.co.uk/news/education-57241471

@KatherineOfGaunt Sorry to hear that. We had to isolate over Oct half term and Christmas. It sucks.

KatherineOfGaunt · 26/05/2021 13:37

Aw, thanks, @JanFebAnyMonth! Blush

Thank you for sympathy, people! How's everyone doing?

noblegiraffe · 26/05/2021 13:44

Oh that is shit, Katherine, you must be so disappointed. Flowers

KatherineOfGaunt · 26/05/2021 14:30

It is shit, @noblegiraffe. All year this bubble has been fine. Now, suddenly, when I actually have something to look forward to, it all gets buggered up.

Been trying to keep working at home but it's hard. I have zero motivation now to do anything.

Saucery · 26/05/2021 16:30

Oh Katherine I’d be beside myself! Rotten, rotten timing, after all this just plodding on getting children educated and then a consequence like that for you. Flowers

Piggywaspushed · 26/05/2021 16:32

The way Cummings is currently describing Whitehall leadership and government sounds like my school!

MsAwesomeDragon · 26/05/2021 16:54

That's really, really rubbish Katherine Flowers I hope you can find something small to do at home, but I know it won't be anywhere near the same.

Piggywaspushed · 26/05/2021 17:19

Oh also, bummer KoG. Really sorry .

DollyMixtureLulus · 26/05/2021 17:38

I'm so sorry Katherine. We had 7 classes sent home between yesterday and today. It feels like groundhog day. Lots of staff crying. We're mostly under 36, so no where near all vaccinated either. It's so shit.

Piggywaspushed · 26/05/2021 17:46

Wow, dolly!

We has anoethr false positive LFT (this is the same boy for a second time!) and I think this is not helping the cause.

JanFebAnyMonth · 26/05/2021 17:53

I read about someone who consistently produces false negatives, goodness knows why.

JanFebAnyMonth · 26/05/2021 17:59

Oh heck honey, apparently they’re surge testing in Peterborough now, we’re stuck in the middle.....

RuleWithAWoodenFoot · 26/05/2021 18:07

Test was neg at weekend. Did an LFT this morning too, just in case. It's a cold - feels like a cold.

Went in, has a lovely day! My kids really stepped up. Not in class tomorrow, v gentle day on Friday.. then Cornwall for 5 days.

Piggywaspushed · 26/05/2021 18:13

You need to do a PCR if you have symptoms rule, seriously. I am sure it is just a cold but that be the rules...

Mistressiggi · 26/05/2021 18:32

Did rule do a PCR at the weekend? I'm confused. Though I do know someone who had a PCR one day (in hospital) that was negative and one the next that was positive.

Katherineofgaunt I really have no words Sad

HercwasanEnemyofEducation · 26/05/2021 18:32

Katherine I'm so sorry.

KatherineOfGaunt · 26/05/2021 18:41

Thank you - your comments really do help.

Vive la répiblique!

KatherineOfGaunt · 26/05/2021 18:41

WhenSheWasBad · 26/05/2021 18:45
