You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. It is meant for school staff only – a sort of room of requirement for school staff to let off steam.

Baiters, haters, goaders, and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

If you are NOT staff and just have a general education query please start your own thread.

Do not give the staffroom password to non-staff as it attracts the wrong sort of crowd.

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes, and the ability to sniff out where the booze is stashed - Thirsty Tuesdays, Fizz Fridays now in operation. Do not sit on the chairs and do wear a mask. Finally, upload your covid test results twice a week on Wednesdays and Sundays.

Jan, you are, of course, absolutely right. Thank you for being a voice of sanity. I will go for neutrally polite and rave about how much I'd like to work for them.

TheHoneyBadger · 25/05/2021 21:56

Is it meant to be faithfully if addressed to women then? I thought Sir and sincerely, personal name and faithfully.

HarrietDVane · 25/05/2021 21:57

It's only sincerely when you use their name - faithfully is for Sir/Madam.

Piggywaspushed · 25/05/2021 22:06

I don't think you should ever use Sir/ madam. Phone up and find out the name?

JanFebAnyMonth · 25/05/2021 22:11

Apparently 1% of all 10-14 year olds in Bolton tested positive last week.

noblegiraffe · 25/05/2021 22:11

That must have been a massive sleepover, Jan

DanglingMod · 25/05/2021 22:12

Thanks for the new thread, Staff.

I'm.a bit surprised any school planned a year 11 (or 13) prom. We haven't and neither have any other local schools that I know of. Or anything similar.

JanFebAnyMonth · 25/05/2021 22:13

Not with the Indian variant nob(le)
Wink

JanFebAnyMonth · 25/05/2021 22:14

I’ve heard of a couple of proms in marquees, hopefully with at least a side open although who knows.
Nope, we’re not having one either.

MsAwesomeDragon · 25/05/2021 22:19

@DanglingMod

Thanks for the new thread, Staff.

We haven't arranged anything. I did hear today that year 13 have arranged something between themselves, but we've been specifically told staff must not attend. Year 11 normally have to arrange their own prom, but they haven't got anything sorted this year. I think smaller friendship groups have arranged parties at home instead, but again, staff have been told to discourage this if we hear it being talked about.
noblegiraffe · 25/05/2021 22:27

Angry Jan

We've got a Y13 leavers assembly tomorrow which is going to be a bit sad as it will highlight just how little of the normal sixth form experience they had.

cantkeepawayforever · 25/05/2021 22:31

DD left the school she has been at for 6th form last week.

She has had 1 complete term there, out of the normal 2 years, with all the others being cut short through a combination of lockdowns and self isolation.

JanFebAnyMonth · 25/05/2021 22:55

Telegraph have published an article by Allison Pearson of U4T... looks like they’re branching out into anti vaccination for children now Hmm

MrsHerculePoirot · 25/05/2021 23:03

@cantkeepawayforever how about “wagwan pussy whores!”.... no?

noblegiraffe · 25/05/2021 23:05

El Giraffo sounds like a Mexican drug lord.

Of course U4T are anti vaxx. Anything that might stop a kid catching covid is bad.

cantkeepawayforever · 25/05/2021 23:06
@cantkeepawayforever how about “wagwan pussy whores!”.... no?
Um...maybe not??

noblegiraffe · 25/05/2021 23:07

Grin MrsHP

Or to be less formal cant could go with your earlier ‘alright nobs!’

cantkeepawayforever · 25/05/2021 23:08

I open up a tiny glimpse of an escape tunnel ... and you lot just keep shovelling stuff back into it! Stop it, I say!

MrsHerculePoirot · 25/05/2021 23:16

Sorry cant you’ll be fab, however you address it 💪

cantkeepawayforever · 25/05/2021 23:18

No, I will be the Really Bizarre Application that they will chuckle over for weeks...but it has been very cathartic just to get to the point of sending the thing off.

noblegiraffe · 25/05/2021 23:43

Good luck cant 🤞 🍀

RuleWithAWoodenFoot · 26/05/2021 05:14

Jesus. I've been awake since 3.30 coughing. Didn't get to sleep until half 12 because child had a night terror just as I was falling asleep at half 11. In moving to the spare room, I discovered another fucking pen trodden into the carpet and somehow ink everywhere all over the brand new sofa bed. The fourth pen/textile issue in 3 days. Scream. So now I'm too cross to sleep. Today is going to be super. Roll on Friday.

WhenSheWasBad · 26/05/2021 06:47

Don’t go in rule you’re not well and you are exhausted.

Mistressinthetulips · 26/05/2021 06:47

Good grief you sound in the midst of it, hope you can catch a breath (and a lucky break!) some time today. Flowers
I've been having multiple child related dreams (children going lost, dying) which I'm putting down to my latest bad choice from kindle unlimited (which was supposed to destress me Hmm)
