You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. It is meant for school staff only – a sort of room of requirement for school staff to let off steam.

Baiters, haters, goaders, and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

If you are NOT staff and just have a general education query please start your own thread.

Do not give the staffroom password to non-staff as it attracts the wrong sort of crowd.

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes, and the ability to sniff out where the booze is stashed - Thirsty Tuesdays, Fizz Fridays now in operation. Do not sit on the chairs and do wear a mask. Finally, upload your covid test results twice a week on Wednesdays and Sundays.

Vague memories of Tenko.

I’m just starting to cool down from the gym. Ds has gone to stay at a friends house so I’m trying to think what to have for dinner on my own. Just remembered I have strawberries and raspberries and blueberries and meringue nests so pudding is definitely on the cards.

I’m still avoiding marking but with the speed this week is passing at I need to get on really. Not tonight though.

Sorry. Random stream of consciousness

Is it a really bad thing to have MrsHP?

Do you all have a full week off? We only had the long weekend, but there are only 15 teaching days left!

Make sure you all enjoy the last Friday Gin

I'm so tired. Thankfully I'm staying in my classroom for August so don't need to pack up and move.

The topic covering the wars is ‘Germany’ on the exam syllabus we do so it probably doesn’t get covered there and I don’t recall it coming up in the wwI or wwII topics in ks3.

I don’t recall learning about it when I was at school either actually and I’m guessing it’s from fictional representations that it’s on my radar Rafa.

piggy we sisn’t Know you were a quizzed, did we?

Rafa I don’t think it’s remotely on the syllabus - consciousness of many Brits unless they watched Island at War - I only learnt about it from my late friend from Guernsey and when we went there for her wedding we went to the Occupation museum.

This BBC article says PHE have now released school figures for the Delta variant - associated with 97 outbreaks in the last four weeks.

@MrsHamlet

Raffles is an hotel in Singapore, I think.
I've never been though.

I adore that MrsH wrote "an hotel" Wink

Oh yes, I love me a quiz!

The data thread has a link to the stuff containing schools data... v convoluted.

I suspect that might be the case for lots of people, honey.

Somebody on Twitter seems to have been surprised by the Nazis building a work camp on British soil and the fact had been deliberately hidden. I’m not convinced it’s hidden, just that the whole topic of the occupation rarely gets covered so there’s not much reason to mention it.

I've been too. Main memory is of peanut shells being all over the floor, then later on I fell out of a top bunk at the hostel. Too many slings. Also, spent the same in 4 days in Singapore as I'd spent in 6 weeks in Indonesia.

When and Rule, I vow to your sophistication- altho the peanut shells don’t sound great!!

I’m awaiting the storm there’ll be on the Parents United Fb page about the variant news. Also they’ll summarise what Gurdasani et al say in their webinar.

I’m very alarmed to hear about just how much of our secondary colleagues’ annual leave (because that’s what half term is) is being taken up by these TAG.

DP and I are in Edinburgh for a couple of nights, having dropped the toddler off at my mum’s en route. Said toddler is apparently having the time of her life being fed absolute rubbish and taken on trips to farms etc.

We’re having a lovely time, due to me doing two solid weeks of midnight finishes to get reports written before the break, but the 54 medium term plans I still need to write upon our return is weighing on my mind....
