You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. It is meant for school staff only – a sort of room of requirement for school staff to let off steam.

Baiters, haters, goaders, and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

If you are NOT staff and just have a general education query please start your own thread.

Do not give the staffroom password to non-staff as it attracts the wrong sort of crowd.

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes, and the ability to sniff out where the booze is stashed - Thirsty Tuesdays, Fizz Fridays now in operation. Do not sit on the chairs and do wear a mask. Finally, upload your covid test results twice a week on Wednesdays and Sundays.

Vaccine floored me after the second dose. Tiredness and headaches are the most common symptoms felt apparently. The second dose I had brain zaps and felt like I had flu for a week.

I've only had one day off ill this year so didn't want to spoil that so just worked through it. Previously I had awful attendance thanks to surgery and stuff so I'm feeling quite pleased to have proven I'm not a sicknote specialist this year.

TheHoneyBadger · 30/05/2021 18:18

Oh and I got a mildly threatening letter about ds's absences this school year. They take them as a percentage. I was like hmm didn't think he'd had much time off so checked the record and he's actually had three days off but because there were less possible days for attendance it comes out as a bigger percentage. Twats. Fancy sending a threatening letter for a child having had three days off school in a year.

I was very tired ~48h after my first jab (Pfizer) but wasn't sure if it was just end-of-term exhaustion. DH was cold and shivery for a couple of hours after his jab (also Pfizer) but no other effects.

JanFebAnyMonth · 30/05/2021 18:36

Oh that is awful @TheHoneyBadger.

@noblegiraffe I would have to respond that I’m a great kisser!

JanFebAnyMonth · 30/05/2021 18:37

This thread is taking somewhat unexpected turns....

JanFebAnyMonth · 30/05/2021 18:46

Do other threads do things like this?? Can’t exactly see it happening on Data, can you @Piggywaspushed?

Piggywaspushed · 30/05/2021 18:48

No not really!!

noblegiraffe · 30/05/2021 18:50

Hmph well go to the Data thread then where they don’t care that you had an exciting real life meet up that you’re refusing to discuss.

CarrieBlue · 30/05/2021 18:52

I was knackered after my (first) vaccine (moderna) but it could just have been end of week tiredness. This has always been the thing about this virus, that I wouldn’t notice if I’d got since the symptoms are pretty standard to ignore and crack on going to school (who’d not go into school with a temp/sore throat/cough pre pandemic?) and now I can’t even recognise vaccine side effects in myself since they are also teaching side effects Confused
noblegiraffe · 30/05/2021 18:59

Omg my US email counterpart with no taste is at it again.

This is how I feel!

JanFebAnyMonth · 30/05/2021 19:03

OK, so, honey and I had a lovely lunch (well, the meat on both our plates was a bit Hmm), chatted happily, I was late as I took a wrong turn, very early on in the conversation I referred to something quite personal about me (NOT embarrassing-type personal, OK?!!) which I thought I’d mentioned on the thread but apparently haven’t, so then ended up telling my life story, well some of it. We had Child portions, which were very adequate!

Is that enough for the happening-starved crowds on here?

MrsHamlet · 30/05/2021 19:09

What the hell is that, noble?

noblegiraffe · 30/05/2021 19:10

It’s a t-shirt, MrsH.

I can’t imagine a U.K. version.

noblegiraffe · 30/05/2021 19:14

Is that enough for the happening-starved crowds on here?

God no. I want answers to the Guardian questions 😂

JanFebAnyMonth · 30/05/2021 19:17

I want doesn’t get.

JanFebAnyMonth · 30/05/2021 19:18

I operate on a need-to-know basis, OK?

CallmeHendricks · 30/05/2021 19:20

Didn't we all start planning a get-together on a hill, last year?
There was mention of guitars and camp-fires and all sorts.

Piggywaspushed · 30/05/2021 19:28

I have spent much of the day looking at theatre tickets but not booking any. Living with philistines is distressing.

noblegiraffe · 30/05/2021 19:34

@JanFebAnyMonth

I want doesn’t get.
Sorry, mum.
noblegiraffe · 30/05/2021 19:38

I booked Ed Gamble tickets for next year yesterday. I love Ed Gamble.

Even though it’s next year I felt a little frisson of risk in booking.

RuleWithAWoodenFoot · 30/05/2021 19:40

I going to see Adam Buxton in a few weeks. Need to make some other fun plans.

MrsHerculePoirot · 30/05/2021 19:43

I didn’t have any side effects after second Pfizer jab six weeks ago but am knackered beyond belief last few days so maybe end of term and Pfizer combo?

Piggywaspushed · 30/05/2021 19:49

I was toying with Comedy of Errors outside in Stratford but then I thought... rain.

And The Mirror and the Light ill be in London. But then I thought, how much????????

MrsHamlet · 30/05/2021 20:06

Three of my a level students are planning a trip to London including to the Globe. They said "we wish you could come". Me too, ladies!
