You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. It is meant for school staff only – a sort of room of requirement. Baiters, haters, goaders, and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

If you are NOT staff and just have a general education query please start your own thread.

Do not give the staffroom password just in case it attracts the wrong sort

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes, and the ability to sniff out where the booze is stashed - Thirsty Tuesdays, Fizz Fridays now in operation.

I didn't even know people still had secretaries. What are they still doing that's so risky?

piggywaspushed · 22/02/2021 23:03

Dr Deepta is really good : often trolled on Twitter. Along with every other female , especially Asian females, who have opinions and insights based on their scientific or medical knowledge.

Smile It's classic divide and conquer isn't it, make out we are demanding better treatment than other people. Oh and we should be at the forefront of demanding those other job roles get a better deal.
ItsIgginningtolooklikelockdown · 22/02/2021 23:07

Bob sounds like a posh kid to me. Trying to think of the Scottish equivalent!

Out on the main boards usual suspects are showing their true colours again.

ChloeCrocodile · 22/02/2021 23:16

I now have 5 relatives who are all younger, fitter and not working face to face who have had their vaccines because of spurious necessity of occupation.

I know it is a couple of pages back, but I think this needs addressing. There will always be outliers who are perfect examples of unfairness in vaccine distribution. But that doesn’t mean that the overall plan is wrong. Wasting two weeks arguing over minute details would be wrong -letting some “unnecessary” folk have a vaccine to save weeks of deliberating over who counts as necessary is not at all wrong.

ItsIgginningtolooklikelockdown · 22/02/2021 23:24

There just seems to be an awful lot of them Chloe, or is that just mumsnet?

HercwasanEnemyofEducation · 22/02/2021 23:27

The overall vaccine plan isn't wrong. But under 35s WFH don't need vaccines over teachers of any age. I know about 20 of the former and about 3 vaccinated teachers. Why

SquashedFlyBiscuits · 22/02/2021 23:30

ICT made me hand over my laptop today. They promised it would be safe. I warned them there was stuff on there that wasn't backed up as it wasn't connecting to the network properly. I begged to keep it and back it up myself. They promised it would be safe.

All my files are gone. Fuckers. Planning, resources gone. Fuckers. Am so angry. Really did not need this today.

Still not got all lessons sorted for tomorrow now.

Really am getting very sweaty.

SquashedFlyBiscuits · 22/02/2021 23:30

*sweary

TheHoneyBadger · 22/02/2021 23:32

I'm a bit amazed with this 1 in 3 adults have had a vaccine. Do we have that elderly a population? Here I haven't heard of anyone under 70 having them yet. Then again why would I hear I guess. My parents in their mid 70's only had them 3 weeks ago and I'm still hearing of elders being invited. I guess it could be very different in different areas.

No idea how young people are being called. After the age groups it's meant to be CEV and those are identified by Doctors. No need for deliberation really when it comes to young people with no pre existing conditions - it makes no sense as to how their names even come up.

ItsIgginningtolooklikelockdown · 22/02/2021 23:38

Squashedfly that is awful, I'm really sorry Sad

RuleWithAWoodenFoot · 22/02/2021 23:41

We're doing group 6 here. Only know this because I'm newly part of it.

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 22/02/2021 23:45

That’ll include NHS staff, GPs, health and social care staff, paramedics etc. HoneyDragon. The CEV will already have been done by now as they were above the 70 year olds I think. I think most places are doing the CV and people in their 60s. Although it varies from area to area. People working in vaccine centres and unpaid carers and spare arms at the spend of the day will probably also have been done.

Yeah, Deepti Gurdasani and Devi Sridhar have given some excellent breakdowns of the stats throughout.
HSHorror · 23/02/2021 00:09

Well there have been a few on threads
Nhs sending open links which allow anyone a vax and then just anyone booking one.
The gps etc getting friends in to use up the leftovers
A hospital sending out to loads in error then not cancelling

It is a bit worrying we have 25-33% elderly or hcp/care worker etc or shielding.
I expect most asthmatics are now excluded with a criteria of hospitalization or 3 lots of steroids.

It seems peculiar re the gestational diabetes. As surely most recover from it and some get tested. But anyway shielding seems extreme for them when diabetics are only CV.

At least my kids will probably be both over 6 by the time a vax is authorised for the chikdren.
Imo rotas would have needed masks anyway as otherwise the teacher woukd be potentially be infecting the next group or the surfaces would be very contaminated from say a week of the other group.

I wonder if the 50s parens being vaxxed will be the statprt of a slow down.

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 23/02/2021 00:16

Poor U4T. This was supposed to be their big day and now they’ve all been triggered by masks and tests.

I’d feel sorry for them, but I’m too busy laughing like a drain.

picklespark · 23/02/2021 00:18

I think I’m going to stay in here. I mistakenly chanced a look at a few of the threads on the main COVID sub and wanted to bang my head against the wall.

noblegiraffe · 23/02/2021 00:24

Oh Rafa 'Bittersweet victory' 😆

What twitter does show is that that are planning on banging on tediously about masks for the next few weeks so that'll be a joy.

TheHoneyBadger · 23/02/2021 00:28

Most of them are so desperate to get their kids out of the house they'll suddenly stop worrying about them being muzzled or dying from carbon dioxide poisoning or whatever the hell it is they claim to be worried about.

Love that they call it a victory. Was there a war? Who was the enemy? Yay we beat the science? Dickwads.

TaxTheRatFarms · 23/02/2021 00:30

Rafals It’s ok, the sound of my laughter is most definitely drowning out yours Grin

And I can say that happily as our take up on masks in the corridor was really good, and the vast majority of the kids said wearing a mask was “alright”.

Top tips for take up: year 10 boys were overhead saying “Sophie in year 11 said boys look well fit in masks.” which I think boosted our numbers of year 10 boys in masks exponentially Grin So if you have a willing year 11 girl who’ll take a bribe, that’s a very effective strategy!

EnemyOfEducationNo1 · 23/02/2021 00:33

Can't sleep.
Everything is just shit.

"looks good in a mask" could be the new underhanded insult ala "he has a face for radio"
noblegiraffe · 23/02/2021 00:38

Enemy, you ok?
