You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. It is meant for school staff only – a sort of room of requirement. Baiters, haters, goaders, and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

If you are NOT staff and just have a general education query please start your own thread.

Do not give the staffroom password just in case it attracts the wrong sort

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes, and the ability to sniff out where the booze is stashed - Thirsty Tuesdays, Fizz Fridays now in operation.

Got my union email to await further advice.

Sounds ominous 🙈

rainingcats · 22/02/2021 22:02

I am very confused by the whole testing!

We have a meeting after school tomorrow so hoping that we will be told more then.

We break up on the 26th - was supposed to be going to Cornwall the week after but that’s out the question now!

MrsHamlet · 22/02/2021 22:04

Bob is in year 11.
Bob is fond of making himself known to all and sundry.
Bob says things like "you're a fucking cunt" and when SLT tell him that he didn't say that because they don't want to deal with Bob he says "yeah I did, cos he is"
Bob will tell you "that's not happening miss" if you require him to do something he thinks is even remotely "wank".
If you ask Bob "it's wank, is it?" with a middle aged teacher raised eyebrow, he'll mumble a bit and look awkward. Because no one wants to hear a middle aged woman say that.
Bob once put his first through a door because someone dared him to. That was messy.
Bob did not moon the whole school on sports day. That was the Bob who left 3 years ago.
Bob has a 6 target and no chance.
Bob could be Ed sec because for all of his many faults, he sees things clearly.
No one really likes Bob. I like Bob. I wish I wasn't responsible for his GCSEs.

chocolateisavegetable · 22/02/2021 22:07

Unison have booked a Teams call for Wednesday. Have the other unions booked theirs yet?

ineedaholidaynow · 22/02/2021 22:08

What do you think Bob will say about the testing

Appuskidu · 22/02/2021 22:08

The NEU sent a survey out a couple of hours ago, but not heard anything about a meeting.

HercwasanEnemyofEducation · 22/02/2021 22:09

The first LFT plans made it clear students should be socially distanced before testing so if there's a positive, the whole lot don't need to isolate. I hope secondaries do it in small batches, a year group at a time, and where possible students travel alone. Rurally this may be difficult but if only one year group per day, could they distance on the bus. Presumably school only services haven't been running through lockdown?

It's wank?
Cantaloupeisland · 22/02/2021 22:10

Ah we have a Bob. Today he came in wearing a hazmat suit type thing, kicked off about something or other, pushed some chairs over, left. Fairly standard behaviour

ItsIgginningtolooklikelockdown · 22/02/2021 22:11

listening to Dr Deepti Gurdasani on Sky news (catch up). She is very cautious about reopening in general and schools in particular - has anyone else heard her before? She sounds and looks very worried!

MrsHamlet · 22/02/2021 22:11

You got it choc
If he's not in bed, or swinging with a cider.

MrsHamlet · 22/02/2021 22:12

Yep cantaloupe... Bob has many relatives 🤣

RuleWithAWoodenFoot · 22/02/2021 22:15

Am I going to be able to go to my place in Cornwall on Maundy Thursday?

MrsHamlet · 22/02/2021 22:16

I've just seen a horrible thing and I need to bleach my eyes... someone OUT THERE has referred to "double jobbing" and I can't Unsee it.
I'm going to bed to recover.

RuleWithAWoodenFoot · 22/02/2021 22:16

To be fair to Bob, this whole thing is wank.

JanFebAnyMonth · 22/02/2021 22:20

Maybe Bob could take over from Gav.

CarrieBlue · 22/02/2021 22:21

I have a Bobette. She doesn’t swear but she sees through all the DfE crap and says it like it is. She would be an awesome Ed Sec.

SmileEachDay · 22/02/2021 22:22

Maybe Bob could take over from Gav

Has...has anyone ever seen Bob and Gav in the same room?

ineedaholidaynow · 22/02/2021 22:25

Does Bob have a whip?

ItsIgginningtolooklikelockdown · 22/02/2021 22:29

Oh I'm so fed up with this day. I'm eating too much and harumphing all over the place. Would be best to go to bed!

HercwasanEnemyofEducation · 22/02/2021 22:29

What on earth is double jobbing? Should I Google it?!

RuleWithAWoodenFoot · 22/02/2021 22:30

I haven't seen sight nor sign of my Bob since late November. I called him on his birthday, he didn't want to talk to me - 'fucking hates' me apparently. He's 7.

JanFebAnyMonth · 22/02/2021 22:33

Bobs should be older than 7. Very sad rule. ☹️

Cantaloupeisland · 22/02/2021 22:40

We also have a Bobette whose response to any question is 'I dunno maaaate do I?! Godddd...'
I often think if they ever did one of those Educating Yorkshire type shows where we are she'd be the absolute star!

piggywaspushed · 22/02/2021 23:00

Enjoying watching people now suddenly deciding we all need to be terribly worried for secretaries (who they knew nothing about before) and pulling apart those stats to tell us they don't show what the ONS say they in fact do show. Hey ho.
