You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. It is meant for school staff only – a sort of room of requirement. Baiters, haters, goaders, and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

If you are NOT staff and just have a general education query please start your own thread.

You can play here if you are a member of one the following groups-

-ABBA - anti bashers and baiting association
-SWAB - school workers against bashers
-SWOT - school workers opposing teacherbashers
-STARS - schoolworkers together against ranting + slurs

Do not give the staffroom password just in case it attracts the wrong sort

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes, and the ability to sniff out where the booze is stashed - Thirsty Tuesdays, Fizz Fridays now in operation.

If you come with a stick to goad us then that is not allowed in the staffroom and you will receive a detention

Well, trying to be positive, I will be really happy to see my students face to face, especially my EAL bunch, but most of me is just bewildered* that the government can really be this fucking reckless Sad

*bewildered is the polite version. Big swears are happening. Sad

MrsHamlet · 21/02/2021 22:54

I like kids like Bob. He says it how he sees it. I appreciate that.
Senior person: mrsH why di you need Bob removed?
MrsH: well he called Tom a fucking cunt
SP: I'm sure that's not what he said is it Bob?
Bob: it is. He's a fucking cunt.
MrsH: see you next week Bob.

I wish I wasn't responsible for Bob's GCSEs though 🤦🏼‍♀️

HercwasanEnemyofEducation · 21/02/2021 22:58

How can they justify it, especially with Scotland and Wales going for a gradual approach? I'm pissed off again.

noblegiraffe · 21/02/2021 22:59

Need to see the detail of whether we're supposed to mass test them all, and when. That could be a massive ballache.

On the plus side, not having to juggle remote learning and homeschooling will leave me with far more time to post on MN. I'm sure that those who were in favour of the Big Bang approach will be delighted to hear that this is what they were campaigning for.

HarrietDVane · 21/02/2021 23:00

On the one hand I will be pleased to get my normal job back: teaching in person and online is tough.

But as a parent I am concerned about my children going back into secondary school. And as a teacher I am worried about being stuck in a poorly ventilated room with 32 other people for six hours a day.

So much for 'following the science.'

And don't get me started on 'summer school catch up.'

HercwasanEnemyofEducation · 21/02/2021 23:00

The mass testing is going to be interesting and a huge waste of money if only done once and then kits sent home. It'll take a day per year group I reckon.

RigaBalsam · 21/02/2021 23:00

They could be isolating again after a week back. Ffs

HercwasanEnemyofEducation · 21/02/2021 23:02

riga happened to my 4yo in Jan. He's isolated 4 times now, don't know how he hasn't caught it.

noblegiraffe · 21/02/2021 23:02

They're supposed to be tested twice (or at least they were last time), Herc.

So god knows how that will be fitted in.

ChloeDecker · 21/02/2021 23:06

Scotland and Wales have obviously put down that magic tape along the borders.

Impressive stuff that tape....

WhenSheWasBad · 21/02/2021 23:07

To be fair to Bob I’m sure he is a fucking cunt.

Boris Johnson on the other hand, words fail me.

MrsHamlet · 21/02/2021 23:08

Bob did once ask a senior member of staff "who the fuck are you to talk to me?".... I'd like Bob to meet Bojo. It would be a frank exchange of views.

noblegiraffe · 21/02/2021 23:09

Interestingly the majority view on the thread about this in the covid section is 'why the fuck are all the kids back at school at once?'

Political journalists on twitter describing it as 'risky'.

Boris better have everything crossed. I don't think they'll be able to hide the data this time either.

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 21/02/2021 23:14

So outdoor after school clubs are back on the 8th too. Which is going to mix kids from different schools in large groups. I know it's outside, but children and teens aren't well known for their ability to keep well away from each other.

How exactly is this plan 'taking things slowly' and based on the data. I'd be interested to find out what Chris Whitty actually thinks.
