You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. It is meant for school staff only – a sort of room of requirement. Baiters, haters, goaders, and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

If you are NOT staff and just have a general education query please start your own thread.

You can play here if you are a member of one the following groups-

-ABBA - anti bashers and baiting association
-SWAB - school workers against bashers
-SWOT - school workers opposing teacherbashers
-STARS - schoolworkers together against ranting + slurs

Do not give the staffroom password just in case it attracts the wrong sort

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes, and the ability to sniff out where the booze is stashed - Thirsty Tuesdays, Fizz Fridays now in operation.

If you come with a stick to goad us then that is not allowed in the staffroom and you will receive a detention

No, no! We can't risk anyone putting their back out. We must help... by drinking the contents and lightening the load.

Can you tell why I've put on weight?

CallmeAngelina · 21/02/2021 21:33

Right and can I pick some brains for what to "do" in my next live catch-up? LKS2.

chocolateisavegetable · 21/02/2021 21:35

I don't think we should drink all the alcohol before Boris' announcement. I won't have time to replace that many bottles before 3.30.

What have you done so far?
SmileEachDay · 21/02/2021 21:37

I had a pet competition with my tutor group Ange they loved it. Those who didn’t have a pet drew one, which was hilarious 😂

I’ve got smaller ones, but we’ve done memory/Kim’s game type things, bingo for numbers/HFW, treasure hunts, I went to the shops and bought..., guess my number etc

Have you done a scavenger hunt? Bring me something red, bring something you can eat with, bring something oval etc? Times table bingo - everyone draw a 3x3 grid - write down a number in the 2 times, 5 times and 3 times table in each square - and then you call out "9 x 2, 7 x 3, 11 x 5" etc etc
CallmeAngelina · 21/02/2021 21:48

Ooh, fab ideas, thank you. Like the scavenger hunt idea, particularly. And the pet one. I have had my dog present on a few lessons already, and he's gone down a storm.
Bingo would be good, too.
God I love this place! I can always rely on you lot.

HercwasanEnemyofEducation · 21/02/2021 21:49

Could you do an age appropriate half term bingo. Eg "went for a walk", "played on a games console".

EnemyOfEducationNo1 · 21/02/2021 21:54

My dd had an origami by zoom lesson.

but if you're going to do that Angelina - for goodness sake do it before you start on the alcohol

Blimey! The mere thought of that is making me twitch.

How would the lockdown bingo work? Give them a range of things to pick from?

CallmeAngelina · 21/02/2021 21:58

Grin Even I don't teach when I'm pissed!

HercwasanEnemyofEducation · 21/02/2021 21:58

Yeah, or a card with them all on and they cross off the ones they did and if anyone has a line or full house they win.

Appuskidu · 21/02/2021 22:02

Yep, I’d give them a range of numbers to choose 5 from. With KS2 you could do number bonds or times tables. Then call the numbers as one/10 less/more than X etc

CallmeAngelina · 21/02/2021 22:04

Right, thanks very much.
By the way, I'm getting weird ddos stuff happening again here...

I hope it’s it started again! (Although I did take screen shots of the attack yesterday to use in my lessons when I have to teach it!)

Random thought of the Day:
It’s only just occurred to me that we don’t have a Deputy Prime Minister 🤔

SmileEachDay · 21/02/2021 22:10

Night you lot. Hope tomorrow goes ok 😊

ChloeDecker · 21/02/2021 22:11

not started again

One ex-teacher I know now makes jams and marmalade that she sells at farmers markets - took early retirement. She makes the most delicious marmalade. Its enough to pay for lunches and days trips with friends

Another one I know took an RHS horticultural course and is now a 'plantswoman' - she will not mow the lawn or do landscaping as such but she will plant up beds/pots, prune roses/wisteria, sources plants from wholesale nurseries etc. She now works three days a week having built up a reputation of fixing problems left by landscape gardeners who have suggested the wrong plants in the wrong borders or not prepared the soil properly. She reckons she is on £25k per annum now plus she does the odd bit of language tutoring/speaking.

My Brownies (who are all KS2) LOVE scavenger hunts!!! We seem to do one every week at the minute. We enjoy "I went to the shops and bought ..." Where they have to remember what everyone before them bought. Or another fun one is "disappear", where one child is "it" and then you just chat about anything until "it" disappears from their screen, and the others have to spot it and disappear as quick as they can. The last one to disappear is out (but they have to still be on screen when the chosen one disappears, they can't just sit off screen all the time)

GuyFawkesDay · 21/02/2021 22:35

@StaffRepFeistyClub that gardening job sounds perfect!!
