You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. It is meant for school staff only – a sort of room of requirement. Baiters, haters, goaders, and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

If you are NOT staff and just have a general education query please start your own thread.

You can play here if you are a member of one the following groups-

-ABBA - anti bashers and baiting association
-SWAB - school workers against bashers
-SWOT - school workers opposing teacherbashers
-STARS - schoolworkers together against ranting + slurs

Do not give the staffroom password just in case it attracts the wrong sort

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes, and the ability to sniff out where the booze is stashed - Thirsty Tuesdays, Fizz Fridays now in operation.

If you come with a stick to goad us then that is not allowed in the staffroom and you will receive a detention

Book 4 is The Gang's Secret Feast in which chairs are sat upon and Hamletta foolishly takes a photograph.

borntobequiet · 14/02/2021 17:28

Nobletta Cameleopardus Handgel-Facemask is her full given name. She’s really an Hon. but doesn’t like to advertise her connection to the Royals.

I think surely Hhandgelle- Ffffacemasque-Smythe.

borntobequiet · 14/02/2021 17:31

Pronounced FFS

chocolateisavegetable · 14/02/2021 17:33

Very tempted to name change to Noble'sBitch

Have you all seen this - could she please take over the DfE?

Saucery · 14/02/2021 17:40

noble is a maths specialist. It truly must be the legendary Cold Day In Hell for me to find common ground with her Grin
Disclaimer: that’s a comment based entirely on my experience of maths from primary to secondary and as the mother of a Maths Changeling and not an attempt to besmirch noble in any way, shape or form. Or to ‘equate’ Maths to some impenetrable maze of perpetual misunderstanding or anything.

My mistake :)

[/quote] Obviously been leant on by the Hon. Nobletta FFS......
Piggywaspushed · 14/02/2021 18:01

Wil the DfE listen to Dr Deepta?

Will they heck. Even Rachel Burden asked her questions like she was deranged.

noblegiraffe · 14/02/2021 18:19

Wow, that was like listening to someone read out my threads.

She's got some people spooked, there was a troll thread started about her yesterday claiming she wanted schools to stay shut until covid had been completely eradicated.

noblegiraffe · 14/02/2021 18:26

Meant to say Hello! To motherrunner, glad you are feeling a bit better and hope things continue to improve for you Flowers

It seems to be Covid is like flu weekend on the coronavirus boards again.

Hancock should probably have steered away from even mentioning the f word.

Wasn't his finest choice I don't think....
JanFebAnyMonth · 14/02/2021 18:41

Dominic Raab has told the COVID Recovery Group to back off, when they called for all pupils back in on the 8th, according to the Northern Echo:

He said they were still aiming to start reopening schools on March 8 – although he would not be drawn on whether they would all be able go back at the same time.

“We need to wait to evaluate the data carefully and allow those plans to be put in place,” he said.

“Because we are making progress I think we can be confident we will be able to start that process.”

Beeb story here about what he said, but this doesn't mention the schools part:

Argh I ventured onto edutwitter and there's the remnants of a pile on. Every half term descends into chaos on there. Can they all move on from Oak Academy?!

Piggywaspushed · 14/02/2021 18:56

Oh, EduTwitter are always bickering. Such egos on nearly all of them.

Saucery · 14/02/2021 18:59

I have Opinions about Oak Academy. Not the core subjects but stuff like Music and PHSE. Quite dreadful in execution.

FrippEnos · 14/02/2021 19:08

Saucery

Oak academy has only just started putting stuff up for my subject and from what I remember are refusing to do Ks4 (Ks3 is rubbish and incomplete)

Saucery · 14/02/2021 19:15

Replacing the last line of ‘Oranges And Lemons’ with “here comes a mother, to make sure you’re fed”
Not enough Hmm faces in the world when I had to press Play on that bollocks. I did pause it to point out it could be a Father, or a Grandad, or a Brother, or a Sister, or a Chef.......

ChloeDecker · 14/02/2021 19:17

To me, what’s interesting about Oak Academy is that the teachers on there since last July are paid £100 per lesson. Even the 12 minute ones. However, each teacher doesn’t get a say in what they teach-everything is provided for them including a full script. Shows we are all definitely due a pay rise!

Saucery · 14/02/2021 19:23

It’s as though they have been auditioned for being bright-eyed, bushy-tailed and that’s it. The sound quality on some of the PHSE stuff was awful. If we’d turned that out then parents would have been justified in complaining. I’m sure the subtitles don’t meet accessibility standards either.

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 14/02/2021 19:31

That makes no sense. I could understand the audio on the stuff put up in August being rubbish. It was done in a rush. But they've had ages to do the new stuff. And they've managed without it long enough to keep going without until they get it right.

There's going to be some very confused kids if they ever end up playing oranges and lemons.
noblegiraffe · 14/02/2021 19:36

I know someone involved with trying to rope in teachers to do the lessons and they tried really hard to get a more diverse mix, but it was mainly the bright-eyed bushy ones who'd actually do it.

He ended up having to do some of the lessons himself.
