You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. It is meant for school staff only – a sort of room of requirement. Baiters, haters, goaders, and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

If you are NOT staff and just have a general education query please start your own thread.

You can play here if you are a member of one the following groups-

-ABBA - anti bashers and baiting association
-SWAB - school workers against bashers
-SWOT - school workers opposing teacherbashers
-STARS - schoolworkers together against ranting + slurs

Do not give the staffroom password just in case it attracts the wrong sort

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes, and the ability to sniff out where the booze is stashed - Thirsty Tuesdays, Fizz Fridays now in operation.

If you come with a stick to goad us then that is not allowed in the staffroom and you will receive a detention

Well, if we're about to have a punch-up, I can ask what piggy meant by the disparaging tone around McAvoy going to the catholic school.

MrsHamlet · 16/02/2021 21:01

If you're going to hair pull, can I ask that you tidy the clumps off the floor afterwards.

noblegiraffe · 16/02/2021 21:04

Chloe if you're watching Cobra Kai, what do you think of Johnny?

Back in the 80s, Ralph Macchio was the best looking but now it has definitely flipped.

ChloeDecker · 16/02/2021 21:04

I was always a bit left field in my ‘heart throbs’ Mistressiggi Grin

DreamingofBrie · 16/02/2021 21:05

@motherrunner

Anyone remember ‘North and South’? I used to watch it with my mum and wish I’d marry Patrick Swayze.
Oh, when you mentioned North and South I thought you meant the Richard Armitage and Daniela Denby-Ashe programme!

Must admit whispers, I'm not that keen on Chris Hemsworth... in fact have been racking my brain all day trying to think of someone anyone whom I do actually fancy nowadays Hmm. But I do remember being rather partial to Richard Armitage, in Spooks, in The Vicar of Dibley, in North and South......

ChloeDecker · 16/02/2021 21:08

I never really noticed Johnny in that way in Karate Kid noble but I definitely like him in Cobra Kai! Ralph Macchio just looks so damn young still! I’m surprised he was already in his twenties in the first film -lil’ baby face!
The two on screen are very good in my opinion. They have done very well on this tv series. Laugh out loud stuff mixed with enjoying the fight scenes!

ChloeDecker · 16/02/2021 21:12

Oh, when you mentioned North and South I thought you meant the Richard Armitage and Daniela Denby-Ashe programme!

Do you remember the boy band North and South!?

Piggywaspushed · 16/02/2021 21:12

It wasn't a disparaging tone noble , It was a slight whisper. You didn't fraternise with boys from the Catholic school. Glasgow was not very advanced in its religious mixing in those days.

namechangedyetagain · 16/02/2021 21:19

Pretty sure Fiennes went to DS school...

Anyway my laminated list... Aiden Turner, Morten Harket, Dave Grohl, Idris Elba oh and of course the long held teenage crush that is John Taylor.

namechangedyetagain · 16/02/2021 21:20

Sorry absolutely not school related at all!

DreamingofBrie · 16/02/2021 21:21

Just about showing age.

On a happier note, dd and I went to see And Juliet when it came out in Manchester a few years ago, and it was EPIC. I was so so worried that she wouldn't like it, as I was looking forward to it so much, but she loved it.

RandomGrammarPun · 16/02/2021 21:22

@Piggywaspushed

I never watched Shameless. I am more of an Atonement McAvoy.

I grew up in the same postcode as him (me, James, Susan Calman). Unfortunately, I never knowingly encountered him.He went to the Catholic school.

And yet another time I wonder if Piggy is me (Atonement McAvoy).

But I am no from Glasgae.

BustopherPonsonbyJones · 16/02/2021 21:28

The Hemsworth adoration has made me laugh. Who would you put on your ‘fancy but don’t know why’ list? The financial whizz that is Martin Lewis makes my list and James May from Top Gear. Did I see Brian Blessed or was that just a mistake?

No idea who North and South were so I will have to Google.

noblegiraffe · 16/02/2021 21:37

Ah then I can stand down, piggy. I was taught by nuns Grin

John Taylor of Duran Duran?
CallmeAngelina · 16/02/2021 21:44

I know what you mean about Martin Lewis. My list also includes the gorgeous Matthew Baynton, Miles Jupp, Gregg Davis, Alexander Armstrong, and bizarrely, Nick Hewer.
I am too old for some of this list, and too young for one of them.

CallmeAngelina · 16/02/2021 21:46

God, I had a MAJOR crush on Simon LeBon back in the early 80s and was gutted when he picked Yasmin instead of me! Since I've grown up and seen him interviewed then and now, I can't imagine what I was thinking.

twinkletoesimnot · 16/02/2021 21:46

@MrsHamlet I know Joseph Fiennes' twin brother!

I like James Nesbitt - can't really explain why and it makes my dh laugh every time he comes on the tv!

noblegiraffe · 16/02/2021 21:48

Where are you up to, Chloe? I can't believe that they managed to get pretty much all the original actors back! It's definitely a fun watch if you don't take it too seriously. Where are the risk assessments??

chocolateisavegetable · 16/02/2021 21:49

@CallmeAngelina I have met Simon LeBon in real life - I went to his house. OK, I didn't go IN his house, but he did come out and talk to us. I know you'll all find this very difficult to believe, given my rare and subtle comments about Chris Hemsworth - but I was a major stalker of Duran Duran back in the day.

namechangedyetagain · 16/02/2021 21:49

@chocolateisavegetable yes of Duran Duran 😍

Piggywaspushed · 16/02/2021 21:49

LOL, I think you rather gave that away with Glasgae , Random!! Grin

noblegiraffe · 16/02/2021 21:51

Martin Lewis??

Mind you there's always threads on here where people confess to fancying Mr Tumble.

chocolateisavegetable · 16/02/2021 21:52

namechangedyetagain I was a Roger girl myself, but they were all gorgeous. Saw them in concert soooooo many times, went to all their houses (see previous post), went to Nick's wedding (obviously standing outside).
