You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. It is meant for school staff only – a sort of room of requirement. Baiters, haters, goaders, and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

If you are NOT staff and just have a general education query please start your own thread.

You can play here if you are a member of one the following groups-

-ABBA - anti bashers and baiting association
-SWAB - school workers against bashers
-SWOT - school workers opposing teacherbashers
-STARS - schoolworkers together against ranting + slurs

Do not give the staffroom password just in case it attracts the wrong sort

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes, and the ability to sniff out where the booze is stashed - Thirsty Tuesdays, Fizz Fridays now in operation.

If you come with a stick to goad us then that is not allowed in the staffroom and you will receive a detention

And two days allocated to 'assessment support' so we can moderate etc. We are doing authority moderation between different schools then I think SQA may do some sampling too. Finer details being published 'in due course'; which will be way too late knowing SQA.

At least they are acknowledging the time needed (we all know it will really be longer than 2 days but it's a start).

I am potentially (definitely) going to be involved in assessing at least 2 qualifications this summer and probably 3. My mind is already boggling.

Maybe MNHQ's choice of wording to use and not to use tells us something?

SmileEachDay · 16/02/2021 18:03

In what way, Jan?

It would actually be helpful for HQ to be precise. I can’t abide generalised feedback.

Beachhuts90 · 16/02/2021 18:04

I finished the book I was reading today and then fell down the inevitable wikipedia hole that opens up after I read anything about history. Did you know that the entire Hermitage is available online for a virtual tour? God, I miss museums.

JanFebAnyMonth · 16/02/2021 18:09

YesI was thinking it's a teacher feedback situation!
Maybe it's a coded 'reprimand'

HercwasanEnemyofEducation · 16/02/2021 18:10

Like really shit whole class feedback.

WWW - pics of boot boy and Chris
EBI - thread wasn't derailed

I didn't think anyone had mentioned anything in particular. Given what is said on this site by people it's a joke. I don't mean on this part of course only ever sensible 😂

noblegiraffe · 16/02/2021 18:17

Jan are you on the app and can't see PMs?

noblegiraffe · 16/02/2021 18:35

Anyone wanting to know what went on and why we were put on the naughty step - there was a post about me deleted.

Now reinstated, because it was just bantz.

Reported by lurkers. 👀

Chris Hemsworth wasn't talking about them in his video.

Piggywaspushed · 16/02/2021 18:38

What book did your finsih beach? Because of THREE HOUR LAPTOP work today and making batch after batch of pancakes , I have not finished my very long book. Tomorrow's task...

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 16/02/2021 18:40

I haven’t opened mine, let alone got near to finishing it.

MsAwesomeDragon · 16/02/2021 18:44

Well, you lot have been told off. I only had half a day off!!!

I went for a long walk through the woods and realised that now it's slightly warmer, the mud has defrosted and wellies would have been a better choice than trainers. I had to change my trousers when I got back. Dd avoided our screen free craft day by appealing to daddy to let her go back on Roblox instead of doing fun crafts with me. Harrumph!!! I shall do crafts by myself!!

JanFeb I was teaching The Hunger Games just before lockdown last year. After watching part of the film one day, a Y9 girl said to me, "Miss, if you had the choice between Peeta and Gale, you'd go for Gale, wouldn't you? Be honest." My professional teacher persona slipped for a moment as without hesitation I replied, "Finnick. Finnick is gorgeous" Blush

motherrunner · 16/02/2021 18:52

I challenge with this man. When I was 19 I went to see ‘28 days later’ at the cinema. Saw the most beautiful man in the world and stayed to watch the credits to find out his name. Credits read ‘Cillian Murphy’. I vowed to call my first boy Cillian ... and 16 years later I did.

The weather is properly shit today and I’m feeling increasingly fed up with everything, so thinking of starting Outlander again and spending some pleasant hours thinking about whether I prefer book Jamie Fraser or TV Jamie Fraser instead.

I blame whoever brought up Chris Hemsworth yesterday, it’s reignited my interest in tall strapping men dressed up in historical costume!

JanFebAnyMonth · 16/02/2021 18:57

Finnic is perfect to look at but bloody hell I don't think I'd want to be in a relationship with him.

Whereas Gale ..... aaaahhh.

noblegiraffe · 16/02/2021 18:58

Is it Sillian or Killian, mother? Always wondered.

He looks a bit grubby in that photo.

JanFebAnyMonth · 16/02/2021 18:58

Yes I find that pic quite scary

noblegiraffe · 16/02/2021 18:59

Peeta can fuck off.

StationView · 16/02/2021 19:00

mother 28 Days Later is a great film and I love the homage to The Day of the Triffids in the way it starts. Cillian Murphy is so skinny in it!

I don't usually watch Peaky Blinders (lived in Birmingham for quite a while & didn't enjoy it), but I did get sucked into the recent series where Sam Clafin played Sir Oswald Mosley Blush

JanFebAnyMonth · 16/02/2021 19:00

I know why did she choose him.....

JanFebAnyMonth · 16/02/2021 19:01

Careful peeps, we're getting derailed again!!!

motherrunner · 16/02/2021 19:01

It’s a hard ‘C’. Luckily I married an Irish man who also has to deal with his name being mispronounced! (And agreeable to havin on his son named after my teenage crush)

I don’t care. Even with his with stupid hair in ‘Peaky Blinders’ I think he’s lovely!
