Where the dickens has it gone? Is it gone gone? Has it been renamed and I just can't find it?

As @Neededabreak has intimated above, there really needs to be mainly political websites where political ideas can be debated freely, just as we need an educational website that deals with mainly educational issues.

The TES website became too many things, to so many different groups and as as such, it became untenable. If TES Global do decide to create another forum, it will definitely not be like it was before, as it was unmanageable.

Since the website NAB is proposing is a paid for, educationalists' only website, it would not suit a Trump supporter who wanted to repeatedly proclaim how wonderful Trump was, as president, would it?

Where is the agreed button?

That is pretty much spot on staymotivated, thank you.

It is really important when a new website is created, users understand fully what it is intended for and what is and isn't permissible. If not, there will be a lot of misunderstandings and a lot of distress caused.

What we all need to do is to ask ourselves what needs did the old TES Community website fulfil for me, and then seek alternatives.
@Brian35 It wasn't in the rules that Trump supporters could not post. Are you saying such people are not welcome on the new site?
It looks that way.

There are still plenty of places you can declare your love for the fascist, of course.

DrLinus · 26/01/2021 12:52

It is good that the Biden-Harris fans have their own place to extol their love of communism.

Neededabreak · 26/01/2021 13:17

The point wasn't that any particular political belief would not be welcome it is more that there are sites for political debate but currently few for educational discussion. In order to provide a service one aims to meet a realistic need, to fill a gap so to speak, I have a general interest in politics and gardening for example but a specific interest in Education. Thus I am also a member of the gardeners world forum for example... however the options for Education are limited.

Indeed.

I would add that the professional education forum we are working toward is more than a chatroom for a coffee although that may of course have a part to play.

As staymotivated has said it is important for any organisation to have a clear view of what they want to provide and how they are going to to it, I would not want to duplicate any existing provision so the new venture must have a different USP, thus the professional angle which actually has emerged from reflection, research and feedback from potential members. I say potential because as we have identified it might not be for everyone, people may not feel it fits there need hence my agreement with staymotivated who identified that the TEC Community goals became diluted as it was trying to be all things to all people, there would be little point in repeating that in my view but if others prefer that model there are perfectly viable options out there.

Never apologise for lunch.
Neededabreak · 26/01/2021 21:02

Lol @DrLinus.

I can't understand why I could not simply reply to you, the formatting seems to change sometimes or I am not using this site correctly... good job I won't be responsible for tech anywhere any time soon.

Neededabreak · 26/01/2021 21:09

I meant quote and reply, I am sure I quoted before and other messages have the quote tab... how curious.

Scaramooche · 26/01/2021 21:13

I don’t think you can quote a post which already contains a quote (if that’s what you’re trying to do)

It would be interesting to have a section devoted to autistics on an education website.

Done a lot of positive work in schools with these youngsters. More recently become aware of autistic adults within the community. Many are undiagnosed.

Asking a local councillor to arrange clearance of ivy I had cut down in a local play area seems to have uncovered another one. The parks manager was having a very strange correspondence with him. Talking to the councillor it emerged that the same occurred in different situations.

Probably better for society if there were a greater understanding generally.

There are some threads on here about autism. Have you had a look to see if you could contribute on those? Some of them are a few months old though. Or, meanwhile, you could start one of your own.

Has anyone got the link to the new site?

Ah that will be it.
DrLinus · 27/01/2021 16:57

Otherwise I am eminently quotable.

It's got to be a genuine community I think. TES forum was quite good at getting that balance. If it's all pre-moderated and screened for the "right" opinions it becomes an echo chamber , a bit like Schools Week?

TES was beginning to feel like one of those primary classrooms in which the teacher only ever calls upon the girls to answer questions.
