You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. It is meant for school staff only – a sort of room of requirement. Baiters, haters, goaders and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

If you are NOT staff and just have a general education query please start your own thread.

You can play here if you are a member of one the following groups-

-ABBA - anti bashers and baiting association
-SWAB - school workers against bashers
-SWOT - school workers opposing teacherbashers
-STARS - schoolworkers together against ranting + slurs

Do not give ‘The Every twat for Themselves mob’ the staffroom password as a number of them are operating in an alternative reality.

No DfE muppets allowed

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes, and the ability to sniff out where the booze is stashed - Thirsty Tuesdays, Fizz Fridays now in operation.

If you are fed up with cakes and biscuits there is now a cheeseboard on offer

If you come with a stick to goad us then that is not allowed in the staffroom and you will receive a detention

Sorry to hear that monkey.
Hope your dp feels better starry.

noblegiraffe · 04/11/2020 13:45

Oh shit monkey that’s terrible. Are they sure of the rules?

So, so sorry to hear that Flowers

Get well soon Starryfamily

monkeytennis97 · 04/11/2020 14:31

@noblegiraffe just spoke to the overall boss of the homes they will review on a weekly basis subject to government guidance... we'll see... thanks everyone x

monkeytennis97 · 04/11/2020 14:32

@starrynight19 wishing you all the best through it xThanks

Saucery · 04/11/2020 14:37

I hate the way homes are having to do blanket bans on visiting in order to try and keep service users and staff safe, monkey. There has been news coverage of this quite often but nothing seems to be being done about it Flowers
Wishing you and your family a trouble-free recovery, starry.

On a trivial note, M&S have fucked up my delivery of thermal tops and face masks. Thanks, *M&S, the two things I need for work Angry

starrynight19 · 04/11/2020 14:39

On a good note when you book a test it now actually asks if the person you want a test for is in education and then goes on to ask for the name of the place they attend. That wasn’t an option four weeks ago when we last had a test.
Hopefully they will now be collecting data on that. Whether it will become public or not is another thing.

starrynight19 · 04/11/2020 14:39

Thanks for well wishes everyone Smile

monkeytennis97 · 04/11/2020 14:40

Oh poo @Saucery that's blooming annoying!

Yes I agree with you about blanket rules. Bojo said in pmqs earlier that there was some guidance coming out regarding facilitating family visits hopefully we will still be able to see our beautiful boy in some way other than the 3 seconds he tolerates FaceTime.

Saucery · 04/11/2020 14:45

I hope they move quickly on that guidance, monkey for you and everyone else prevented from seeing their loved ones.

CarrieBlue · 04/11/2020 14:56

So sorry monkey

Get well soon starry and family

MrsHerculePoirot · 04/11/2020 15:12

So sorry @monkeytennis97

@starrynight19 hope you all feel better quickly

Danglingmod · 04/11/2020 15:53

Face masks in communal areas compulsory at least in secondary!!

monkeytennis97 · 04/11/2020 15:56

@RigaBalsam that's what I thought. Gutted no compulsion for masks in secondary classrooms. Shocking negligence.

Danglingmod · 04/11/2020 15:59

I think (hope) more kids will keep them on lessons now, though, as compulsory in corridors? And as it gets colder...?

RigaBalsam · 04/11/2020 16:01

Love how the speaker in the commons just got so cross at MPS not social distancing. She should come to school at lesson change over.

Piggywaspushed · 04/11/2020 16:04

Isn't that face covering bit about out of school settings?

Piggywaspushed · 04/11/2020 16:05

Ah, just read more!

Piggywaspushed · 04/11/2020 16:10

Well, my head said yesterday he 'never wants to see children in masks'.

TheHoneyBadger · 04/11/2020 16:17

Sorry not caught up so this will be out of synch but remember nobody could get tested in the early months unless they were admitted to hospital. So those figures show nothing other than children and parents of school age children weren't being admitted to hospital with COVID not whether they were infected. How they'd know that 8% figure when there was no testing is an interesting q

Keepdistance · 04/11/2020 16:20

Even if the kids dont actually mind.
I think lots of teens would choose a mask over long covid. A fb post where the kid went from horse riding to chronic fatigue type and crutches.
God knows what is going on with cases though. Our la is still climbing and my msoa or whatever up 100% . So concerned a bit that as the increase was initially schools it wont go down here. Pretty sure i heard some one on school run still talking about groups of 6.
Our r is very high so if say 2 then retail closing wont help?

Piggywaspushed · 04/11/2020 16:21

Our MSOA is up 278%!!

ChloeDecker · 04/11/2020 16:38

Just catching up. So sorry to read your news monkeytennis - it’s so barbaric isn’t it!? Flowers
