You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. It is meant for school staff only – a sort of room of requirement. Baiters, haters, goaders and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

If you are NOT staff and just have a general education query please start your own thread.

You can play here if you are a member of one the following groups-

-ABBA - anti bashers and baiting association
-SWAB - school workers against bashers
-SWOT - school workers opposing teacherbashers
-STARS - schoolworkers together against ranting + slurs

Do not give ‘The Every twat for Themselves mob’ the staffroom password as a number of them are operating in an alternative reality.

No DfE muppets allowed

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes, and the ability to sniff out where the toffee vodka is hidden.

If you are fed up with cakes and biscuits there is now a cheeseboard on offer

If you come with a stick to goad us then that is not allowed in the staffroom and you will receive a detention

There are also threads where an OP writes about teachers (often aimed at noble) who are apparently on every thread demanding schools close. Those posts are threads about threads so why are they never deleted?! Mine probably will be now!!

In my school, there's no singing even in bubbles as we aren't supposed to sing in groups larger than fifteen. To be honest, based on the difference in infection spread from talking to singing/shouting, I'm totally in agreement at the moment.

Mistressiggi · 30/10/2020 19:10

@DollyMixtureLulus remember senior pupils aren't just S5 and 6, S4 is included too.
The Morrison's thing - in England spirits aren't included, in Scotland it's all alcohol (I think this will be because we don't have cut price alcohol deals here at all, it's a snp policy)

MrsHamlet · 30/10/2020 19:10

@SaltyAndFresh me too!
It's bizarre that (once again!!) we are held to higher standards than EVERYONE else in the entire bloody world.

SaltyAndFresh · 30/10/2020 19:11

Will just wait to see if more are in agreement as I wouldn't want to leave posters behind.

Mistressiggi · 30/10/2020 19:12

@SaltyAndFresh

Anyone for a Facebook group before we get kicked out? I'd prefer to chat privately.
How would we be sure no one pretended to be "one of us" in order to get in? And would then have our rl identities. (I may be watching too many superhero videos with dc)
Saucery · 30/10/2020 19:14

Invite only via PM, Mistressiggi? Only to regular names?

Tempted, but best not. Don’t blame you for wanting to talk without being picked and piked at, Salty, however.

SaltyAndFresh · 30/10/2020 19:15

@mistress, good point. I don't know. Anyone?

MrsHamlet · 30/10/2020 19:15

Invite only would be best, I reckon. Sad to feel like we're being chased away though.

Saucery · 30/10/2020 19:16

I mean, I’d best not join, not that it’s a bad idea!

TheHoneyBadger · 30/10/2020 19:18

There was a teacher on here recently complaining about taat or talking about other posters.

MrsHerculePoirot · 30/10/2020 19:19

@SaltyAndFresh I’d be up for that.

I nearly started a thread in site stuff the other day about allowing misinformation on threads to stand. I find it bizarre that so many posters are allowed to post about not wearing masks, no following the rules at all because they’ve had enough, or civil liberties or whatever other reason. The numbers are absolutely sky rocketing and in real life the proportion of people I know who think like that is tiny. Sometimes I find myself wondering if they are right, then I read some actual scientific evidence and realise they aren’t. I actually think it is morally irresponsible to allow the site to be used in that way, encouraging law breaking essentially in my opinion.

DreamingofBrie · 30/10/2020 19:21

These posters who are not school staff, who look at these threads purposely to find stuff to report, they remind me of a certain type of parent! The ones who insist that they know best and think they can treat us as "their" employees, but who make the most noise if we do anything that displeases them or their children Hmm.

I wish MNHQ were more even handed in their moderation. Maybe it's because I frequent the Staffroom and FWR boards frequently, but they do seem to bow to those who shout loudest on those two boards.

Saucery · 30/10/2020 19:22

I’ll miss you . Leave me a bit of Bottle Green cordial and some prewrapped chocolate biscuits......

StaffAssociationRepresentative · 30/10/2020 19:24

Yes a private group by invite only - we know who we are (so to speak)

DreamingofBrie · 30/10/2020 19:24

Unless it is a member of school staff reporting. I'd be more sympathetic to that, there are only a handful of posters in the school threads who piss me off completely, but I've just learned to scroll past their posts.

MrsHamlet · 30/10/2020 19:24

Does anyone use Discord? I'm in a really odd group on there and it can be anonymous.

motherrunner · 30/10/2020 19:25

@StaffAssociationRepresentative can we leave that in your ever so capable hands for organisation?

StaffAssociationRepresentative · 30/10/2020 19:27

And seeing as others are reading

  • too many people at the DfE have little understanding of what goes on in schools at the coalface and certainly have no idea what their directives means in terms of workload for schools
  • Gavin Williamson is the worst secretary for education ever. Why he has not been sacked for incompetence (and now for not giving a shiny shit about FSM) is a national disgrace!

Raises hand timidly- I'm only a lurker and rarely post on mn. I will really miss this thread if it goes. It's been a massive support to me this term, just reading about others in the same boat. X

CallmeAngelina · 30/10/2020 19:29

We should be fine to continue on here as long as we stop mentioning "you know who."

MrsHamlet · 30/10/2020 19:29

She who must not be named

motherrunner · 30/10/2020 19:31

@OytheBumbler All in it together 😊

Saucery · 30/10/2020 19:31

Speak never of that poster,
A reaction always pleases.
She just reports to get a rise,
Because she knows it teases.

StaffAssociationRepresentative · 30/10/2020 19:33

Ooh yes I use Discord - that is a good shout
