You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. It is meant for school staff only – a sort of room of requirement. Baiters, haters, goaders and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

If you are NOT staff and just have a general education query please start your own thread.

You can play here if you are a member of one the following groups-

-ABBA - anti bashers and baiting association
-SWAB - school workers against bashers
-SWOT - school workers opposing teacherbashers
-STARS - schoolworkers together against ranting + slurs

Do not give ‘The Every twat for Themselves mob’ the staffroom password as a number of them are operating in an alternative reality.

No DfE muppets allowed

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes, and the ability to sniff out where the toffee vodka is hidden.

If you are fed up with cakes and biscuits there is now a cheeseboard on offer

If you come with a stick to goad us then that is not allowed in the staffroom and you will receive a detention

Can I just ask Primary bods on here what your schools are doing about singing? I heard someone (a friend of a friend) say today it's allowed as normal in Primary, just not in secondary. Is that right?

Singing not allowed in Scotland anyway :(

Spread out groups of 15.

Singing OK in bubbles. Our bubbles are around 22 though atm.

DollyMixtureLulus · 30/10/2020 18:15

Face mask rules in Scotland...

At all levels face coverings should be used by adults when not working directly with children, for example when moving around settings or when in staff rooms, administrative areas or canteens across all school settings.

At Levels (Tiers) 1-2 face coverings should be worn by adults where they cannot keep two metres from other adults and/or children and young people... The 'sustained period' 15-minute caveat no longer applies.

At Levels (Tiers) 3-4 face coverings should also be worn by adults and young people in classrooms in senior phase (S5 and S6).

Ooh Ive just checked - £120 more! Shock that can't be right surely?! Unless it includes all the extra hours I've claimed, covering for a colleague - but I wasn't expecting that to go through until next month!

NeurotrashWarrior · 30/10/2020 18:21

@Piggywaspushed

On a point of order, Morrisons have actually always done this. I had it pointed out to me about a year ago but didn't have any proof!
Ooh wow!
Augustbreeze · 30/10/2020 18:30

Thanks @DollyMixtureLulus , and good to know the

TheHoneyBadger · 30/10/2020 18:40

I appear to be £50 down this month Confused

I will have to try the labyrinth path of attempting to log onto the company who manages our pay to try and see a payslip and work out why

Piggywaspushed · 30/10/2020 18:42

The always lovely Dr Chris Smith on Look East just now . But he just wound me up by saying that it was important to keep schools open. As long as we do that we have some sense of normality and daily life.

So this is another new responsibility for us; carry on regardless. Tally ho! Nothing to see here. Everything is so normal!

starrynight19 · 30/10/2020 18:46

Yes we are singing in individual classes so strictly in bubbles.
No whole school hymn practice though or in assembly etc

MrsHamlet · 30/10/2020 18:48

I've just been chatting to my aunt who taught for 40 years (most of them in a private school in the Alps!) and it's really interesting how much the job has changed.
I don't mind being accountable for their exam results, to a certain extent.
I also don't overly mind being responsible for their pastoral care.
But now I have to be a moral guardian of standards and doing the right thing in the face of overwhelming evidence that it's a terrible idea.
What?!?

SaltyAndFresh · 30/10/2020 18:51

Mine is £120 but that's backdated, so it'll be just short of £60 a month.

On the other hand I checked my pension today and my lump sum seems to be decreasing, as does the final salary portion of my overall pension. Can anyone explain that to a maths idiot please?

Also I sold out and am marking exams next month despite saying I wouldn't after going unpaid in summer. I can't afford to take the moral high ground Sad

FeedTheVoodooLilyMumsnet · 30/10/2020 18:52

Hi folks,

We've deleted quite a few mentions about posters on other threads - it isn't really in the spirit and if it continues, we will have to take this down.

StaffAssociationRepresentative · 30/10/2020 18:53

OMG - just realised that Gav 'the muppet' Williamson voted against voted against Marcus Rashford’s idea of providing FSM during October half term. That man can not sink any lower!

It could be index linked so markets down which could affect pensions ????
StaffAssociationRepresentative · 30/10/2020 18:55

Crumbs staff have been told off again. So instead of deleting posts, the option is to take the republic out completely.

Bet the DfE peeps have dobbed us in

Yes he did but I used to teach in the area he represents and believe me it is Blue through and through.

It does make you wonder who else reads the Republic threads!

Gosh, are veiled references to a poster who has repeatedly denigrated our profession, in our one safe space, not in the spirit of Mumsnet? Aside from this thread, Mumsnet really is no longer the place for me. I don't know why I bother coming back.

Over the summer I posted a thread In AIBU about what was the point in obeying the rules if I was going to face 150 students a day I’m in Sept. I made a reference to that thread here. A poster in AIBU referenced comments I made here in AIBU, they were either scouring these boards or searching me.
Saucery · 30/10/2020 19:00

Someone’s whining, Lord, kum by ya! Wink

Singing in class group bubbles only at my school. Which is still way too much air being spread about for my liking.

SaltyAndFresh · 30/10/2020 19:00

Anyone for a Facebook group before we get kicked out? I'd prefer to chat privately.

Me too. I hope it's a paper about sunshine and rainbows.

motherrunner · 30/10/2020 19:04

@SaltyAndFresh I’d be up for that. I’m really annoyed that we can’t speak freely on a thread that is intended for teachers within an education forum. There are so many threads berating us, why can we not air our grievances here?

Yep, I’m in.
