You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. It is meant for school staff only – a sort of room of requirement. Baiters, haters, goaders and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

If you are NOT staff and just have a general education query please start your own thread.

You can play here if you are a member of one the following groups-

-ABBA - anti bashers and baiting association
-SWAB - school workers against bashers
-SWOT - school workers opposing teacherbashers
-STARS - schoolworkers together against ranting + slurs

Do not give ‘The Every twat for Themselves mob’ the staffroom password as a number of them are operating in an alternative reality.

No DfE muppets allowed

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes, and the ability to sniff out where the toffee vodka is hidden.

If you are fed up with cakes and biscuits there is now a cheeseboard on offer

If you come with a stick to goad us then that is not allowed in the staffroom and you will receive a detention

I know how to contact you, @MrsHamlet, but no one else.

Stuffed!

monkeytennis97 · 30/10/2020 19:34

@Mistressiggi I'd be up for that (group on Facebook).

MrsHamlet · 30/10/2020 19:34

It was the computer science teacher who introduced me to discord. It feels very techy 😂

Bitbusyattheminute · 30/10/2020 19:35

Someone posted the morrison's thing on my local fb group and it all went off. I did the Internet version of showering with love and just cuddled all one man's shouty posts. Was very proud I didn't bite. Even when he name checked me.

motherrunner · 30/10/2020 19:38

I have zero friends on Facebook. Only on there to be kept abreast of updates for my children’s school. I don’t have an Instagram or twitter account. I’m 41 going on 70 😆 Please don’t leave me 😆

noblegiraffe · 30/10/2020 19:39

I’m not going anywhere.

Happy to call out losers on their own threads.

Loshad · 30/10/2020 19:45

I like being here, and being anonymous, but would be really sad to lose you all. Please do let me know if there is a move to discord or whatever.

echt · 30/10/2020 19:46

What a pity MNHQ is being so heavy handed.

Are we allowed to say get over to X thread and support Republic members?

My 14 yo uses it 😂

Me too - I don’t post a lot but I appreciate the discussions so much - and I sound so informed about stuff compared to my colleagues (who still had no idea about Oak last week when I mentioned it)
namechangedyetagain · 30/10/2020 19:54

I do hope this doesn't disappear. You have all been so supportive to me this week.

Had it not been for this thread, I would have jacked in my PGCE earlier this week..as it is I've just completed assignment 1 and now I'm having a celebratory gin Gin

DreamingofBrie · 30/10/2020 19:56

I like being here too. Already had to leave my dc parent WhatsApp groups due to excessive teacher bashing in the first week after we locked down, not that it's been any loss.

I also appreciate the wealth of knowledge, the camaraderie and the support.

SquashedFlyBiscuits · 30/10/2020 19:56

Please don't leave me behind. Reading what you all put and feeling like I'm not alone has really helped me this term. My dh has found it useful too as you've alerted him (via me) to some things that would become issues in secondary that he hadn't thought of yet. I also love the links to graphs and articles you post. With my real staffroom closed, and a real gung ho attitude prevailing in my school, reading these threads really helps. Thank you!

DreamingofBrie · 30/10/2020 19:57

NameChanged, great news about finishing your assignment Gin Gin.

MrsHamlet · 30/10/2020 19:57

I'm about to make beans on toast to go with my gin 😂 living the high life here!

Loshad · 30/10/2020 20:04

Sounds yummy Mrs H
DH has type 2 diabetes so when they kids are all away we are a carb free house 😢( bar the wine )

Augustbreeze · 30/10/2020 20:14

I did see a (helpful) comment from MNHQ on another thread yesterday which made me think "Crikey, they can't possibly read every post can they?" Maybe they've upped moderation in the current climate?

I sort of see their point, we don't want to become a "mean girls' clique" - there's a fine line between seeking support and talking about someone behind their back.

Yes although moving to another platform is tempting, I can see we'd probably lose lots of "lurkers". (I wonder how many there are??)

I guess if write in slightly more general terms when we're voicing our frustration it should be ok?

Would be interested to know what the Talk guidelines currently say, can someone who isn't cooking tea and their own birthday cake find them and post?

ohthegoats · 30/10/2020 20:14

who still had no idea about Oak last week when I mentioned it

This worries me. Tax payers money has gone into that, at least it should be being publicised to teachers. I've linked loads of stuff on our school webpage. No time for anything else.

I have to work tonight and tomorrow evening - I've done nowt else since 5pm last Friday, so I don't mind. Have got 2 writing lessons to plan, and a science knowledge organiser to do before Monday. PPA all day Tuesday, so just got to get to then.

MrsHamlet can contact me if we get booted from here. Although surely it's just about starting a new thread. What they going to do? Delete every thread where more than one of us posts or something?

TheHoneyBadger · 30/10/2020 20:26

Congratulations name on finishing your assignment.

Mistressiggi · 30/10/2020 20:43

So, does anyone know what "2 air changes per hour" actually means or how you would achieve it? It's in the Scottish guidance on ventilation

Augustbreeze · 30/10/2020 20:53

Helpful of them not to specify, mistress!

WhyNotMe40 · 30/10/2020 21:02

I think as long as we say eg "x thread looks interesting/relevant for teachers" we can't be moaned at. It is singling out individuals that is the problem, or talking about what is happening on another thread, surely?

Danglingmod · 30/10/2020 21:03

I'd prefer to stay on here for anonymity but if everyone does disappear to fb I'd be very sad, feel very left out, and probably join in (if allowed!)

DrMadelineMaxwell · 30/10/2020 21:03

No singing here. I can't find any more up to date information for Wales beyond the fact that singing and chanting etc should be specifically avoided which is advice back from when we reopened in July. I'm normally the one front and centre in singing assemblies, and arranging and rehearsing, then running the Christmas concert so it's a bit of a change for me this year.

SaltyAndFresh · 30/10/2020 21:04

Sorry I dropped that grenade in and disappeared. I haven't really said what's going on in my school for fear of being outed, but needless to say it's nothing like fully open. It would be nice to have somewhere fully private to discuss the reality, but then again its probably a good thing to discuss it in public as no other media will!
