You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. It is meant for school staff only – a sort of room of requirement. Baiters, haters, goaders and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

If you are NOT staff and just have a general education query please start your own thread.

You can play here if you are a member of one the following groups-

-ABBA - anti bashers and baiting association
-SWAB - school workers against bashers
-SWOT - school workers opposing teacherbashers
-STARS - schoolworkers together against ranting + slurs

Do not give ‘The Every twat for Themselves mob’ the staffroom password as a number of them are operating in an alternative reality.

No DfE muppets allowed

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes, and the ability to sniff out where the toffee vodka is hidden.

If you are fed up with cakes and biscuits there is now a cheeseboard on offer

If you come with a stick to goad us then that is not allowed in the staffroom and you will receive a detention

On a point of order, Morrisons have actually always done this. I had it pointed out to me about a year ago but didn't have any proof!

MsAwesomeDragon · 30/10/2020 17:06

I only ever go into our staffroom to collect stuff from my pigeonhole (I discovered stuff still there from March last week).
The department office is our staff hub, but I'm only in there to get my lunch out of the fridge, collect printing, or in my 2 frees a week where someone else is using my classroom. So there are rarely any more than 3 of us in there at a time. But yes, of course that's where I'm most likely to catch a highly contagious virus, not in the 4-5 hours a day I spend in the company of 10-30 teenagers, most of whom are in the age groups who are experiencing the highest rise in cases. Of course that's it!!

DollyMixtureLulus · 30/10/2020 17:06

Morrison's discount doesn't apply to gin, I've already checked

Whaaaat?!

I’m having Edinburgh Gin’s Bramble (I think like the cocktail?) tonight. I treated myself to pretty pink glasses at pay day.

Helpfully no one has made any official announcement re masks here- have I to wear it in class at all times?

MsAwesomeDragon · 30/10/2020 17:09

I always shop at Morrison's, as that's my closest supermarket. Actually, dh normally does the shopping, but now there's a teacher discount I'll be the one who goes (and he'll get out of it, like he's been wanting to get out of it for months)

MrsHamlet · 30/10/2020 17:10

Of course it doesn't apply to gin or we'd all be too pissed to go to work.
I discovered honeycomb gin in a pub the other week. It was lovely but we're in tier 3 and they don't do food so they're shut and IT'S NOT FAIR!

MsAwesomeDragon · 30/10/2020 17:14

Is it specifically gin that's not included, or all alcohol? I don't drink, but dh made noises about wanting me to get him some whiskey.

CallmeAngelina · 30/10/2020 17:14

Anyone got a payrise yet?
Nothing here.

Augustbreeze · 30/10/2020 17:14

BBC reporting here and headlines on R4, on SAGE's latest worrying minutes, they're basically screaming at the govt to lockdown (imho!):

But an official Sage document, dated 14 Octoberer_ and published today, reveals we are in a worse position than expected.^

Scientists crunching the numbers estimated that, by mid-October, there were between 43,000 and 74,000 people being infected with coronavirus every day in England.

Their report said: "This is significantly above the profile of the reasonable worst-case scenario, where the number of daily infections in England remained between 12,000-13,000 throughout October."

It added that the number of people with Covid needing hospital care is already higher than the winter plan and deaths will "almost certainly" exceed the plan in the next two weeks.

Pay rise next month for us. Governors only met recently to agree it.

Piggywaspushed · 30/10/2020 17:17

Yes, we got ours this month angelina. Sorry.

monkeytennis97 · 30/10/2020 17:18

Next month or possibly December for me I think.. can't remember.

CallmeAngelina · 30/10/2020 17:18

Well, I'm not getting overly excited about it, as I think it could amount to less than a tenner, but still. It's the principle. I think.

monkeytennis97 · 30/10/2020 17:19

Exactly @CallmeAngelina

MsAwesomeDragon · 30/10/2020 17:20

Yes, we got ours this month callme. Sorry you haven't had yours yet.

Hercwasonaroll · 30/10/2020 17:24

We've had the uplift but not the going up the pay scale payrise yet.

MrsHerculePoirot · 30/10/2020 17:24

We also get ours this month or next, backdated to September. Happens every year.

MsAwesomeDragon · 30/10/2020 17:26

Mine feels like it's a lot extra, BUT I've just finished paying off my student loans, and I'm no longer paying for childcare vouchers by salary sacrifice. So I don't actually know what the pay rise amounts to, as it's arrived at the same time as those other 2 things. But I do feel a bit rich this month (which is quite good, as I have just arranged to have a new bathroom fitted in January).

Saucery · 30/10/2020 17:27

@Mistressiggi

Morrison's discount doesn't apply to gin, I've already checked Grin
Oh whaaaaaat? Shock Meanies!
Sureitwillbegrand · 30/10/2020 17:44

😂😂 I got 20p 😂😂 not sure if that's the pay rise or just adjustments!

MrsHamlet · 30/10/2020 17:49

Wow! Don't you go spending that all at once 😂

Hercwasonaroll · 30/10/2020 17:49

Student loan makes me weep, it'll be years before mines gone. I spent far too long at university!

CallmeAngelina · 30/10/2020 18:01

Can I just ask Primary bods on here what your schools are doing about singing? I heard someone (a friend of a friend) say today it's allowed as normal in Primary, just not in secondary. Is that right?

ohthegoats · 30/10/2020 18:01

No payrise here yet. Usually November.

Appuskidu · 30/10/2020 18:03
