So continuing on from our boycott/flowers we need to continue to defend our profession. This is teacher/school staff chat - if you do not fall into that category please start you own thread elsewhere.

Omg that is ridiculous great ! Academy??

Piggywaspushed · 04/05/2020 17:11

That's good neuro although I am continually narked by the suggestion that secondary school children can and will...

greathat · 04/05/2020 17:16

Yup. @Piggywaspushed rated "good" but staff have been leaving in droves so I think it's going to shit there.

Piggywaspushed · 04/05/2020 17:18

Well, perhaps they are trying to kill everyone off...

NeurotrashWarrior · 04/05/2020 17:22

piggy there were a lot of comments about needing exemplary behaviour...

NeurotrashWarrior · 04/05/2020 17:24

They did discuss the possibility of ppe for Sen settings.

NeurotrashWarrior · 04/05/2020 17:25

Which might be more of an issue as it will be unsettling for many pupils Sad

pfrench · 04/05/2020 17:26

Higher level of education than average.

That is not evident to me. Having posted on here when I was pregnant, and then not really since, I came back to 'see' what was going on regard opinions about what schools were up to.

It's clear that there are a huge number of either uneducated people on here, or just not very clever people on here. They are also much more right wing than I remember. But in my mind those two things go together. Ha.

pfrench · 04/05/2020 17:30

Out of 120 families in KS1, 19 of them responded to our survey about work provision.

Shove THAT Lord Adonis.

TheFallenMadonna · 04/05/2020 17:30

Our LA is asking schools for phased return plans. We are writing our proposal this week. We do not have exemplary behaviour.

TheFallenMadonna · 04/05/2020 17:31

We're a PRU. I suspect we will be in the first wave of reopening even though we are secondary.

phlebasconsidered · 04/05/2020 17:37

I was pondering my possible viral load and who might be the worst culprits. Snotty kids, spitty kids who spray when they're talking, criers who weep and spit (usually girls over an imagined slight at break), dribblers/droolers on the desk, nose pickers, farters, pencil and pen eaters, paper chewers, kids that don't do any of that but just don't wash their hands after a wee..... The choice is so vast.

pfrench · 04/05/2020 17:38

We do not have exemplary behaviour either. Is that now part of the assumption for return? Hilarious - we're going to have a load of new school refusers kicking off in addition to our normal lovelies.

pfrench · 04/05/2020 17:39

I've got one who licks my face.

Piggywaspushed · 04/05/2020 17:39

My SLT think we do. So they won't risk assess for that.

pfrench · 04/05/2020 17:41

We just had SLT this afternoon, we're all VERY aware of non exemplary behaviour!

NeurotrashWarrior · 04/05/2020 17:41

No, but as they were musing on how wide the corridors were, and the lack of space, Sir Dan made the comment about behaviour and expectations. The other staff member paused (various scenarios flashing through her head) and said, "yeah.."

NeurotrashWarrior · 04/05/2020 17:42

You'd need to listen to it really, I didn't think he sounded as confident as he did last week!

Key thing is that it's all speculation as there's no conformation as yet.

TheHoneyBadger · 04/05/2020 18:29

On a positive though exhausting note I managed to get ds onto the maths platform and to complete 3 homework tasks that he has missed. This involved resorting to a playstation ban and going through tears and tantrums to get him logged in and settled into it.

Does anyone else have a teen who goes to their own school and isn't exactly a model student? He's definitely not on the really naughty list but he does more than his fair share of after school detentions for homework not done.

I have a dd in year 7. Not having detentions yet but she thinks she is too cool for school with her skirt rolling up and phone in a blazer pocket.

MsAwesomeDragon · 04/05/2020 18:44

Our SLT think we have exemplary behaviour too. We don't. I mean, it's better than in some schools, but it's not exemplary, and year 10 are a particular problem year, have been since they were year 7.

TheEmojiFormerlyKnownAsPrince · 04/05/2020 18:44

RigaBalsam oh yes! I swear it’s worse for me than them!!
Ds used to arrive at school late every single morning in 10 and 11. I would find a letter from the inclusion manager in my pigeon hole every week🤷🏼‍♀️😁. He still went onto to do annMa

MsAwesomeDragon · 04/05/2020 18:49

Riga I don't, but our head does, lol, and one of the deputies does too. I think it's quite embarrassing for them as they talk about behaviour in school and their own children are getting detentions for talking in class (homework is always done)

RigaBalsam · 04/05/2020 18:52

*Theres hope then.

Dragon I can imagine. All of this explaining why she hasn't done the projects from History and RE she has been set. It's hard work sometimes.*

WhyNotMe40 · 04/05/2020 18:54

So today seems to be the day when parents, without saying a single word to me, have complained about the work set to my line manager. Haven't had the actual students complain either.
And today is also the day when my 3 year old can't exist without clinging to me or sitting in my lap. While I try to home school my other children, reply to parents/line managers, keep everyone fed, and keep my sanity.
It is really really hard to type sensible emails with a 3 year old on your lap or wailing at your feet....

... I may not have succeeded in keeping my sanity today.
