If she can’t eve get this straight, what hope is there for an eight year old letter leading to a possible investigation of her father 😵‍💫

Very little chance

All OK - so why are the expectations of MM different then? I understood that she is at fault for not following up on the no crimes mentioned?

I’m going to regret getting involved in this but Meghan was the one who said she was notified of an investigation. If that was the case, posters are wondering why she wasn’t curious and concerned about what was happening in the investigation, as most reasonable people would be. However, we only have her word that there was any sort of investigation, and if the letter did not contain any evidence of crimes, then the Met would not investigate. So both things can be true 😊

Dontevenlookatme · Yesterday 15:42

Lunde · Yesterday 15:29

The Met cannot chase up every vague and unsubstantiated rumour of crime - especially ones involving foreign citizens, living in second countries and perhaps committing crimes in third countries.

In fact at the time this letter appeared - 2018/9 - the Met were severely criticised for pursuing vague and unsubstantiated rumours in the Westminster Paedophile Ring debacle.

AFAIK we cannot even substantiate that this letter was written by the ex-wife.

Quite. The Met aren’t alone in this. Anyone who has worked with or for a regulator will tell you that unsubstantiated allegations and complaints don’t make it through triage. Government departments are far too stretched to chase every hare.

Because MM is a prominent person, and despite it being outside their jurisdiction, they gave her the courtesy of a heads up, through the official communication route of the Office of the D&DoS.

That’s a lot more than you or I would get.

Plus most of us are wondering why she spent so much time trashing the RF when this was known to her.

So why are we criticising MM for not doing following up over the last 7 years if there was nothing to it?

You are aware that had Meghan kept her gob shut and had not released a statement about the letter….her knowledge…then none of these questions would be happening right?

everything that follows is a result of her actions…it was her that linked the letter to markle jnrs allegations..nobody else…and had she not done that nobody would know about it!!!

No disrespect to anyone involved, but do you really think "Australian Kiddo Masterchef" was what the Duchess had in mind 7 years ago?

And there's no way they'll be paying her anything close to what she needs for the lifestyle she thinks they deserve. This is a major come down however you slice and dice it.

No. Not by the longest shot and not even a little bit of “an easy yes”.

But shit happens (that you may or may not have had a rather large shit throwing hand in).
People can be arm twisted only so far. And can point blank refuse to give you the time of day, let alone what you want from them.
Some “stomping off in a huff” roads can peeter out into rocky dirt tracks before you realise how far you’ve wandered off the usual route while otherwise occupied with throwing a wobbly.

And middle age kicks us all in the ovaries/balls with reality checks, physical, emotional and energy-wise.

Sometimes, if lucky, you get something that isn’t what you wanted AT ALL. And it turns out to be a good enough trade-off to get you back on a path where the stones poke through your shoes quite a bit less.

Rhaidimiddim · Yesterday 15:47

AllegationsMayVary · Yesterday 15:15

If that’s your take on the letter - then why are you pointing at MM for not following up on malicious content, no crimes, no evidence, just hearsay? I don’t understand.

MM indicated in her initial mess of a statement that she had heard about CSA in the letter she got from the Met back when.

Assuming she's not lying, that's why we're pointing at her - for not following up on what she has confirmed was an allegation of a serious crime.

But we can also speculate that she was lying about the allegations in that letter, that it was nothingburger, and speculate some more on that premise.

Either way, your girl is looking bad - she's either a liar (well, we know she is) or she kept quiet and allowed an alleged paedo to be left loose for 7 years.

That's when people believed her statement that made it seem like some great crime that the police should be investigating had been committed, connected to the crimes that her brother was accusing their father of.

Now we've learnt that it's just some hearsay from Markle's ex-wife. I do question why she cut her father off immediately rather than asking him if the hearsay was true, though.

I guess the lesson is never to take anything Meghan says at face value.

If only Meghan listened to some PR advice or consulted a lawyer or even just got basic facts like dates right then there wouldn't be this hullabaloo. But, her main goal appears to be presenting herself as the great victim and anyone who questions her as bad, while also using this incident to rewrite the history of her fallout with her dad, so of course she's going to get a negative response.

Noseyoldcow · Yesterday 15:48

Ignoring the letter back in 2018/19 would be a reasonable thing to do if you believed the allegations to be untrue. But Meghan stated that this letter is the real reason she has been n/c with her father since then, which would indicate that she did think the accusations to be true. I wouldn’t want to advertise that I thought my old dad was a nonce, would you? So it is understandable she didn’t want to publicise it. Tom Senior was quite ill at the time, so maybe she just thought he’d cark it and that would put the matter to rest. But he didn’t. And, thanks to Tom Jnr, here we are.

Neal Sean (who seems to have good industry sources) said in recent Youtube videos that she has been touting for work in the UK as a guest judge on Bake Off or a celebrity guest on Saturday Kitchen - but so far hadn't had any takers.

She has some cojones to be looking for work on cooking programmes after the disaster that was WLM 😬

Sounds like tapped up Masterchef Australia, they didn’t want her back after last time, but maybe offered her the Jr version to shut her up.

I wonder if the offer will stand if it emerges that she sat on information about her father that if reported could have stopped his offending years earlier. Or if people begin to feel distaste that the abuse of children is being used as a PR vehicle / source of income. Or if more lies emerge, or details of any deal with the Sun or TMJr. Or if questions are asked about why she protected her father’s reputation by falsely claiming their estrangement was the fault of the media or the RF. A tangled web, innit.

Yes and Masterchef in the UK has of course had a run in with this sort of thing already. So definitely not a good look for the brand over all

Because she is the one saying that was why she distanced herself from her father, doh! So if that's true, why didn't she follow up.... her stories do not make sense

There is also the not so insignificant fact that she publicly claimed on record to the Sun newspaper that she recieved the letter in 2018 with the met clarifying it was actually 2019...

Yet again recollections (or dates in this instance) may vary.

MM described the criticism she experienced as “almost unsurvivable”.

I tend to agree. I honestly can’t fathom why you would put yourself through it. All of this negative attention is self driven. Her pursuit of fame is relentless, pathological even. I wish she could settle for a quiet life.

They don't want a private, quiet life. They could have it if they want

Has it been proven that the 'letter' was written by TMs ex wife. Why now.
If the Met Police don't have a copy. Is it because the letter only contained rambling words and that's
why Meghan has a copy as no further action was needed.

It seems like they find lack of attention “almost unsurvivable” also.

Was just double checking but you are absolutely right... I'd imagine even post divorce there's no getting rid of the Markles, he's stuck with them for life!

The kids are half Markle after all.

It seems most likely that she didn’t find it credible but decided it would be useful now.

I hadn't realised that, even if true, it's only supposed to last a fortnight, jeff

Shame because that blows out of the water the parallels which occured to me with Trevor Engelson, where she married him, found what appeared a better opportunity in Canada and promptly ditched him

It’s still my reading comprehension skills.

I am the one who is supposed to put my “N.B. - written by Markle Clan & Associates” glasses on. 🤦‍♀️

I got all carried away immagining little HAMlets having more wallabies and fewer tense faces in their immediate surroundings.
