This is the wrong time to go back on that and the excellent palace media team will know it.

The Palace media team must be absolutely furious that this has broken now, with the King's important Caribbean tour and CHOGM happening this week.

(And just seen that Walter Koenig, Ensign Chekov from Star Trek, has died.)

Absolutely. I just don’t get it. The timeline is so obviously off yet the media are brushing this under the carpet.

Yes. I do understand the 'both sides' MSM tactic, but this is child sexual abuse we're talking about not the usual PR crap they deal with, and there really is actual shoddy journalism going on (timeline errors etc). It's leaving a deeply unplesant odour if it is all just a cynical media game, and there's going to be a 'bombshell twist' on Sunday or next week or whenever.

Since when was child sex abuse entertainment?

I’m presuming the offer was made and accepted at least weeks if not months before announcement.

If it holds regardless of current shitstorm, which it could given the announcement wasn’t delayed, I don’t think Australia is a bad move for them for the summer, or longer term.

Her as a TV presenter, him being “just Harry” and the kids far from the British Royal orbit. There’s a fair few positives for the whole family in that, especially if it leads to a longer term career/stay. Good compromise on weather between Californian & Britain. Good compromise culturally between California and Britain. Down to earth in a way that neither posh California and posh Britain are.

As a concept it could offer quite a few positives as a solution to keep the children insulated both in the short (and possibly long) term from the Ghosts of Media Headlines Past.

Anybody know if Australia has an extradition treaty with the USA?

I would think the opposite - the media are using this to take swipes at the RF, eventually there will be articles criticising the RF as to why they have not supported her or issued statements saying they support her.

Oh they won't settle anywhere else but the UK. They need royal glitter. This will be their push back into RF fold in some way. If not, they are being punished for the sins of her father 🙄

Being punished for the sin of the father is an impossible sell given the rift was created very publically, for financial gain, over a significant period of time and it pre-dates the current shit storm.

At some point one or both of them are going to realise that their future reality is less clouds of glitter, just more high speed gravel to the face.

Sand between toes might look more attractive when reality is accepted for what it is.

People can be incredibly tenacious long after all avenues are closed. But it’s hard work pushing on a brick wall. Getting knackered and cutting your losses for the time being is a very human response.

A permanent move to the other side of the world would be good. I hope Australia rolls out the red carpet and makes them feel very welcome 🤞🤞

Please God!

I've always thought "close friend" and "sources close to..." is Markle herself.

Thank you! I'm baffled that anyone thinks a "source" or "close friend" is actually a real person other than MM. It's bonkers.
Also when readers discount a recent fact with "but Harry said in Spare" or "in the OW interview they said. X" as if those are historically accurate documents 😂

Anything that gets the grifters out of the UK is a win in my book, with any luck they will love it so much the move will be permanent

I'll take that win.

Reverting to the Hello! magazine piece in which “a close friend” said MM’s really, really upset, keeps looking at Lili and crying.

If my 80+ dad was accused, publicly, while dealing with early-stage dementia, of possessing images of CSA, and I had previously harbored suspicions that he had abused little girls (suspicions strong enough to cut off contact with him), my daughter - who I had made sure had never even met him - wouldn’t be the focus of my emotions. I’d be upset, of course, but I’d be upset for my childhood, the lie it all was. I’d be angry at the association he’s dumped me with; I shouldn’t feel shame but I would. I’d be horrified at the digging and delving that’s going to go on. I’d be fed up to the back teeth and utterly disgusted by my half-siblings (but I think I’d have been used to them by now). And of course, in my quiet moments, I’d find it impossible not to think about the victims and what he did to them and what it must be like to be a girl with that heaving man doing whatever he’s accused of doing to me; what lives they must live, what’s happened to them, and all the things we all think about cities such as these.

I have a daughter. She would not enter my mind because she has me to protect her as MM says she did, by cutting off her dad. The thought of associating my DD in Hello! magazine with this filthy, depraved criminality… I just couldn’t. I may privately congratulate myself for keeping my DD away from him, but I wouldn’t bring her into the story as a potential victim of a child rapist. Who does that??

I think this “close friend” was either completely making that bit up, or decided to/was dispatched to spin a victim narrative by the vehicle of Lili, or this is a response to the criticism that her intersections have been all about her and the truth is she just cares about children A cack-handed way of changing PR direction. I’m going to go with friend completely making this up because the other two are too awful.

She has known about these allegations for 7 years. Why is it only now that she's thinking about what her dad was allegedly up to? She managed to put it out of her mind for 7 years, and is only now that she is actually contemplating what she might have been enabling?

At the very least she should be shutting up about how terrible she's feeling, for once.

It’s always either Harry or Meghan. Who else would get involved after seeing the trail of bodies they’ve left behind them?

Also agree about treating Spare and Netflix as source of truth. Hearty laugh on that.

Kingzandqueens · Yesterday 11:58

Meghan & Harry chose to leave the royal family & become private citizens. Anything Meghan does is not the royal family's problem

I haven't read the article, but I foresee this situation and media pieces being used to overshadow the forthcoming KC tour. The narrative will most certainly be used to criticise KC further, whilst also dragging up the supposed errors PPOW made on their tour to the same area.

Edit to add - the budget will be making the headlines probably for the remainder of this week, then the weekend papers can pick back up with the HAM/TM articles, I expect with more "exclusives".

My hope, as I have said before, is due process is allowed to run its course for all parties involved which means no newspaper articles, leaks or reporting from "friends".

How can RF navigate removing the titles now ? Meg is very much in victim mode and both of them liable to throw RF under the bus. They also knew about allegations etc. it's all a bloody mess

I think she is one big lie away from pushing BP into removing titles.

She is a compulsive liar, and she hasn't the brain to keep her lies straight. She probably believes a lot of the lies she tells anyway - narcs have that capacity to re-remember things that in a way that never happened, and to forget things that did actually occur.(Like H, in fact.)

I don't know, and am not going to predict, what the lie will be, but it would have to be one that had the RF complicit in e.g. covering up CSA (again); and, provided the RF have the receipts to prove that (this time) they didn't, I think they'd have to act. Not just a - she's telling lies again, but a she's telling lies again and bringing the RF into disrepute, so...

"but a she's telling lies again and bringing the RF into disrepute, so..."

I don't think she's bringing the royal family into disrepute at all. The whole world knows that there's been a fallout, it's been loudly declared that they do not represent the King or the royal family in any way, and this latest episode simply underlines the wisdom of the royal family's policy of keeping quiet and not getting involved. The contrast between William and his family and Harry and his family could not be greater and only shows William and Catherine in a positive light.

I think it’s their press officer / whichever remaining member of staff has been authorized to say on an ad hoc basis abc or xyz to this or that publication. It will never be them directly because they need to be able to say “it wasn’t me” and journos keep records of everything.

I read it, and he is taking it completely for granted that the RF knew about the letter when MM received it, and is bashing the RF for what they didn't do back then.
