Poor Harry. As if his week hasn’t been bad enough he has now had to watch his brother appearing on the best talk show , holding his own, looking comfortable and relaxed, keeping up with the banter, making half decent jokes, telling stories against himself with humour.

Makes Harry’s attempt at tv chatting seem even more uncomfortable.

“Call me William” versus “I am a prince.”

So you didn’t watch it?

Obviously not, it was a funny story!

Charlize43 · 24/10/2026 13:18

Is it true that a 'We're the Windsors' reality tv show is in the works? People are blaming their friendship with the Beckhams.

There were rumours back in the 2000s that Camilla was chomping at the bit to appear on Celebrity Big Brother as part of her PR team's attempt at rehabilitation of her image post Diana. Her Majesty absolutely forbade it and it was nixed.

And whatever you think of the monarchy, quite honestly we've got bigger problems just now.

To dismantle the system would be comparable to the Brexit disaster: 10 years of public consultation, public information/education on the different options, re-jigging the constitution, electing a president etc etc.

It wouldn't happen overnight and honestly, I don't think the British public care enough.

I'm old, but I really do think the population has been dumbed down. Far fewer people now take an interest in politics or current affairs and the political climate here, as elsewhere, is in danger of tipping over into dangerour populism: simple answers to complicated questions. Personally I dread to think who might be chosen as our HoS. KC is doing a cracking job so let him get on with it.

I think constitutional deconstruction is the last thing we need at the moment, with the govt advising us to prep for wartime-style emergencies and shortages.

No one is asking to dismantle anything. That is always the last refuge of royalists when they can’t maintain the justification.

We know the Windsors have generations of pedophiles and protectors of pedophiles. We know they lie and coverup .

Small changes .
Stop the red boxes. That’s an utter nonsense and more Windsor PR that does precisely zero for the rest of us .

Stop royal consent ( that’s the secret first look William and Charles get at Bills which they can then refuse to follow and exclude themselves then it’s passed as law for the rest of us to obey). That is pure convention and could and should be stopped tomorrow

Stop the tax exemptions. Have them subject to the same tax law as the rest of us .

Thats a start .

Well humour is subjective

So what did I miss out ?
And do you think it happened exactly as described ?

How long do you intend to wait?

I don’t expect to see it in my lifetime, though it’s easy to see certain things that could happen where it becomes more realistic. I have no idea how long it will take. They have a formidable grasp on power.

I’d be keen on a royal celebrity big brother show. We’d get to vote them out one by one.

Busy people in general don't spend time chatting to random strangers on an internet forum. Indeed my family and friends think it strange that I do and a sign that I am wasting my time. I think they're right !

William said on Graham Norton he posts on an Aston Villa forum anonymously!

Every good review begins with “I didn’t watch it but…”

It’s the close kin of the eulogy that starts off “I never met John, but…”

I doubt it. The documentary they did ig the 60s was basically banned from being shown again, and then the Royal It’s a Knockout made them an absolute laughing stock.

I don’t think they’d gamble on a reality tv show. They’d either have to show themselves as very ordinary, which would make people question funding ordinary people, or they’d have to go all out royal / different / glitzy and that would be tone deaf in a time of cost of living etc. it would get too high risk of a PR disaster imo

EmpressSisi · 24/10/2026 13:31

He came across really well. He’s very funny and self deprecating, which I think will charm most people. I love how passionate he is about Earthshot and the environment, and it was lovely to see that side of him. I also really liked that he talked about some of the businesses run by the winners and nominees. I already knew about NoPla, but it’s so good to see the positive work being done and the environment being discussed in such an optimistic, solutions focused way.

Robert Irwin was lovely too, so funny and charming! He reminds me of an excitable puppy with all that energy 😂. Cate Blanchett was quieter but had a certain stoicism about her. I’m usually a big fan of Hannah Waddingham, but I thought she came across as a little rude and rather “me, me, me” in this. Hopefully it’s just a one off and she was having a bad day 🤷🏼‍♀️

Imagine telling people you got flipped out of a chair by the future King 🤣

SirChenjins · 24/10/2026 13:33

I really liked it - both William and Robert came over very well, although I was frustrated that the women weren't given an opportunity to talk more. GN has form for this though.

Robert is so like is dad, although I feel ancient watching this very articulate, capable, intelligent man as I remember him being born! He was genuinely mortified by the trunks photos, wasn't he 😂

Funny stories can be created too and often are or are polished up for chat shows . So you think that’s what happened?

ABitFab · 24/10/2026 13:35

Will be shown in Australia on Sunday night - can't wait to watch it.

Ukisgaslit · 24/10/2026 13:36

You have taken time to post suggesting that because I don’t sit watching chat shows on a Friday night and didn’t watch that one that I shouldn’t be commenting .
I read about it and thought it had a manufactured feel.
I’ll ask again. What have I missed out?

Good lord.

Of course they can, that’s how chat shows work. Research is done in to anecdotes that the guest can tell and the relevant question is asked. But given that you didn’t watch it, you are not seeing any context and the story was amusing (ok, probably not fall off your chair laughing, but still). And William also made several genuinely funny off the cuff remarks and reactions that you won’t have seen because you didn’t watch it. Especially in relation to Robert Irwin and his python 😎

Yawn

I'm always curious as to whether people are this rude to anyone who just so happen to have a different opinion to them in real life, or it's just when they're anonymously hidden behind a computer screen!

Edited

Anyone can comment. But giving an opinion of a show you didn’t watch has a manufactured feel, also. (I read your comment before forming this opinion of it.)

Why not watch for yourself?

BermudaRhombus · 24/10/2026 13:44

I thought he was quite engaging and has shown real improvement at this kind of stuff. He doesn’t haven’t his brother’s natural ability for this sort of thing, but with practice and some coaching he can definitely do it.
