Someone online pointed out she didn’t need hard evidence to speak out on her father.

In the Oprah interview, all she had to do was allude to racism allegations. She didn’t actually say anything: she was out to destroy and knew how to do it, let Oprah do the talking.

BUT she couldn’t to allude to allegations about her father??

No she made it crystal clear she felt betrayed by her father for selling a photo of himself getting fitted for a suit & Harry says he himself is the blame for Meghan having no relationship with her father.
The lies & contradictions are extraordinary..

MrsDanversGlidesAgain · 23/10/2026 13:18

Can we reasonably assume that the Royal Family knew about these allegations if Meghan used her protection to report them? And if so, why did they stand aside while the press attack dogs savaged her for distancing herself from Mr Markle?

The one thing we ( and who the hell elected you to speak for us anyway?) can reasonably assume is that this is a load of balls. MM refused help from the RF, said PH could tell her all she needed, has said that she got no help with her MH and that no-one asked how she was on a tour, and yet she went running to the palace to say 'DF's a paedophile, what do I doooooo?'

'If' MM used her protection to report them' is doing one hell of a lot of heavy lifting there.

Speaking candidly to OK!, Jennie didn't mince her words: "I think it's rather a ridiculous idea to set up a fund for Thomas Markle. I'm sorry that his daughter doesn't want him in her life and I think it's quite cruel of Meghan. However, he has another daughter and a son who surely can perfectly well look after their father."

She continued her critique by saying: "There are an awful lot of people in the world who need money far more than Mr Markle. So I think it's really a mischief-making exercise to make Meghan look bad.

"Meghan seems to have completely severed ties with her American family, except for her mother and perhaps a cousin. It's incredibly sad for Thomas not to know his son-in-law or his grandchildren."

Except alot is speculation and gossip. I never said it would be perfectly nice I never said you couldn't criticse but even then when you do criticise it doesn't need to be done in nasty way.

So long as you have all the facts go ahead except here we can see people didn't have all the facts did they, especially when they made vile comments about why she went no contact with her father. Are those people apologising for being wrong, making a misake in making those comments. Surely now knowing what you do its a good thing she distanced herself and her children or will you maintain that its still an awful thing she did.

Most of us are using facts, and evidence from the Sussexes themselves; their words, their actions.
What we are responding to is something very silly which is trotted out with surprising frequency; we should not comment on Harry and Meghan because we do not know them, which, I'm sure you'll agree, is a stupid argument.

SomethingUniqueThisTime · 23/10/2026 13:22

I suspect that during their engagement and leading up to the wedding the Met close protection service and other HMservices were tasked with investigating Meghan’s family background and identifying any current or future risks to the safety (and reputation) of the RF.
As mentioned upthread many cases of CSA - particularly indecent images are identified through forensic analysis of persons downloading images or subscribing to sites. It is very likely that the FBI will have provided the UK services with information that Markle Snr was under some suspicion although not sufficient (at that stage) to pursue and as no longer resident in the US unlikely to go further.
This information will have been shared with HMLQ and then Meghan presumably. Maybe advised or decided to cut contact, frankly the Markle family were a PR nightmare with all their dysfunctional behaviour and selling stories to the press anyrate. Now I have very little sympathy with M in her behaviour in many many other ways - but on this I cannot help think this must have been a nightmare for her and could have been part of the trigger for her claimed mental health crisis and will for the time being give her the benefit of the doubt. There is enough other stuff to castigate HaM about!
However I do think this story will run and run for months and unfortunately both HaM are proven as unreliable narrators of their own story.
And there are also questions of how this may have been handled behind the scenes - What did the RF know? Did the FBI cover anything up? Why did Thomas Jnr’s original report earlier this year not go anywhere at first?
I do think this is why they returned to the UK.

Edited

She has stated in her statement today that she reported it to her protection officers, and that has been reported in print. The rest is a reasonable inference from that starting point. Whether individual members of the Royal Family knew is a moot point. However, I would have expected the matter to have reached the attention of the relevant Private Offices, particularly if the police were involved. Given how difficult Meghan was reportedly finding life within the institution, it seems unlikely that something of this nature would simply have been ignored.Consider the heavy weight lifted !

What's the point of this?

A reminder of the brickbats that were hurled at Meghan in the not-so-distant past, and an opportunity to reflect on the news we now know. How cruel, and how presumptuous, some were to judge her without understanding what she might have been going through.

Starryfifty · 23/10/2026 13:26

They came back hoping to get full RF protection? Then palace letter came out stating they were akin to private citizens

We had what Meghan said herself. So you're right, what she says isn't always factual, that's true.

There are at least three assumptions in that paragraph. Four now I come to re-read it.

Consider the heavy weight lifted !

Don't tell me what to consider, thanks. And no need for the exclamation mark, full stop is fine.

Well then perhaps you can qualify exactly what you meant by hoping no more threads would be started?
and frankly I’m fed up with you trying to police what posters can discuss!
it isn’t the first or even second time!!

Your fedupedness is selective and I won’t be sitting here thinking twice about posting incase you have me in your sights on any particular day.

As for policing what posters discuss - well a trawl through even half a dozen previous threads would show that I’m not alone in that.

Not that I never complained about your Gifs - unlike others who police the threads when I’m off duty. 😛

Why is that?

Yeh, it must have been very hard maintaining for 8 years that she cut him off because of his collusion with the tabloids and not because he was an alleged pedophile.

It makes it better for TM (Snr ) I would say if these headlines are not just quite so cut and dried as it sounds. Who knows what the truth is. Not me for a start so I'll leave it for now.

You and me both BasiliskStare

I've been on the thread created for this, vainly trying to point out there's so much we can't know yet, but predictably the few remaining fans are adamant that it all proves this and that

Yet again this is the sort of allegation people can be hesitant about querying, but after all the lies which have been told - and often at very convenient times - you'd think folk would have learned Hmm

So in all the years of campaigning for online safety, they have in fact been keeping quiet about child sex abuse by a member of their own family because 'it's someone else's responsibility to deal with it'... that's not a good look is it?! Protecting their own lives/children and turning a blind eye to the potential damage being caused to other families? Talk about saying one thing while doing another...

I wonder why she didn't. I also wonder what would have happened if she had. I suspect it would have gained little traction next to the Royal "revelations" but at least looking back the narrative would be consistent.
