I don’t think that’s the end of it. What I find mind boggling is that she knew about the allegations in 2018 and said nothing publicly, but instead sued over a letter she had written to her father. So she took action over a stupid letter but not those awful allegations? Was her father protected from prosecution because of who he is? There’s been a cover up over this.

Generally you don't go saying stuff in the media that would harm an investigation. If someone said you son is accused of doing it would you go running to tell everyone or want to wait until an investigation had been done and it was proved he did it.

Mondommountain · 23/10/2026 11:54

Guess it also answers why they never said a word about Andrew, knowing much worse was lurking in their own family.

MrsLeonFarrell · 23/10/2026 11:54

AtIusvue · 23/10/2026 11:52

Exactly.

She did it to take another hit at the press- ‘see…this is why I cut contact in 2018….’

In her fervent glee in trying to get one up on the press- she’s revealed she was aware of CSA allegations and did not to speak out on it. Instead concerning herself with soap opera drama with the RF.

She could have done with removing that bit. But neither of the Sussexes can resist having a dig at the press, even when it erodes sympathy. If only they had good PR advice that they listened to.

Kingsandqueenz · 23/10/2026 11:55

MrsLeonFarrell · 23/10/2026 11:51

No idea why Harry used that particular explanation. I think at this point we all know that neither of them are good at being consistent with their narrative.

My assumption from the statement, and I could be wrong, is that it wasn't the Met investigating but the Met passing on information they had received as part of the 5 Eyes intelligence information sharing. Whilst the Sussexes were still being protected by RAVEC it would make sense that information which could have been used to pressure them would be communicated to them.

As to why the investigation seems to have faded out over 8 years, sadly I think we all know that sex crimes investigations often go nowhere.

Edited

Thanks @MrsLeonFarrell none of it makes sense. I think Meghan completely over explained in her statement & it has exposed so many of the contradictions they have told over the years..
It would appear they don't have a very competent press team who is up to speed on everything they said in the past which all contradicts Meghan's latest statement.

Well whether it is far worse remains to be seen. We should in all fairness use alleged - there are a lot of allegations out at the moment and precious little hard evidence.

jeffgoldblum · 23/10/2026 11:56

valeriy2 · 23/10/2026 11:51

We don’t know, and I can only imagine what a burden that knowledge must have been to bear. But what we do know is that the late Queen paid millions of pounds to settle the allegations against her son, who maintained contact with a convicted paedophile whilst Virginia Giuffre, one of the women who accused Andrew of sexual abuse, later died by suicide. Meanwhile, Andrew continues to live on the Royal Estate under the protection of his brother, the King. And this dwarfs any supposed transgressions by Meghan in perpetuity.

But Andrew has not worked in some time! Nice try but no , and now ham seem to have their own Andrew situation….will you be scandalised by them keeping silent too?

There’s no way Liam can handle this on this own. The press will smell blood and I’m sure there will be more to come out.

This has opened a Pandora’s box of questions. Meg has revealed she knew for 8 years!!!!!
I'm sorry but there no coming back from that

But she hasn't helped herself at all. I cut contact with my peadophile father. Protecting my children. Just not anyone else's. Her lack of self awareness is incredible

It is nowhere near equivalent - no-one is accusing Meghan of illegal acts - it is her ailing father that is in the frame.

mysoddenbananabread · 23/10/2026 11:59

I'm a bit confused @jeffgoldblum by recent postings. Several people posted and have done in the past about Meghan's sex scenes and advertisements etc and there wasn't an outcry. I don't agree that it's slut shaming her to do so but that's only my opinion. We're all adults here and so opinions will vary. Eg I have no reservations about commenting on Meghan's style, looks, her career choices etc. Some people don't. 🤷‍♀️Ditto as I already posted it's fair enough for people to talk about this latest situation - it's inevitable. It's going to happen. It's a major development in the ongoing Markle saga.

All the while saying ‘oh why don’t you look over there, Catherine didn’t want to share her lipgloss with me, and we lived in a tiny two bedroom cottage” . The audacity of them, when they were well aware her own father was being accused of one of the most depraved atrocities to be carried out on little children’s.

Such bullshit.

It's hard to tell at this point but it may be that she felt she couldn't say anything because an investigation was happening? It may be that wanted to distance herself. It may be she was advised not to say anything? We really don't know. From experience I would say that people rarely react perfectly to evidence of sexual crimes or abuse in their own family. It is usually messy and difficult.

Meghan of course wants to present her response as perfect, hence the contradictions in her past statements and this one. It isn't perfect but I'm not going to attack her for that.

To be clear what Meghan did as an actress was her job and should never be used against her .
I think we can all agree on that.
pointing out it is at odds with feminism claims is one thing using a scene in a tv show to shame Is another.

I am stating the facts as we know them. Samantha Markel says this is a put up job. Meghan with her statement says otherwise and appears to agree with her brother. It's all an almighty terrible , horrific mess and tangentially it reflects on the overall image of the Royal Family in as much that's it a grim never ending soap opera.

There was nothing stopping them using their press contacts- to leak info that they had received a letter with concerning allegations and have decided that because of this information they were given, have decided to cut off contact.

Didnt have to spell out the allegations, didn’t have to give any revealing info. That was enough. Enough for the press to do their own digging.

But that is really human. We aren't consistent, we don't focus on the worst stuff it's often the little things that cause the greatest offense and we can complain about the spek in someone else's relatives when ignoring the plank in our own family.
