Well we have had the attempted upstaging of the Welsh senate …..now the Oman state visit….we all hope that whatever advisors that they still have will not allow any thing to interfere with Aberfan! 🤞

HMTLQ even gave M the patronage of the National Theatre!
I do think the RF really did try for H's sake. But once it became clear just how ridiculous their ideas were, I suspect Megxit was a relief.

Still can't get over her comment that the last 7 years have been the worst of her life. Her son is 7.
H says the last 10 years have been the best of his life.
🤷‍♀️

She's always had this deep need to insist that she "gave up everything" and that her life was so much more wonderful before she joined the RF. When it is clearly documented as family estrangements, failed marriage/relationships, a disappointing career that had probably already peaked, and a grubby, work intensive, very determined climb painstakingly up the socialite ladder.

diddl · 22/10/2026 14:25

Something I have wondered about is that H has said in the past that the press would hold back a "bad" story about William in return for printing one about him.

It does make me wonder if some of the stories about William might have been laughed of in the same way.

I guess it would be age/content related & maybe they weren't as bad as mig feared?

Of course if that was happening H could just have made sure that there was nothing bad about him to go to press...

MrsDanversGlidesAgain · 22/10/2026 14:25

MM could have been in the history of the RF as the first mixed race woman to marry in close to the throne and have the influence to be a positive role model for women like her. Instead she's going to be known very differently.

Her own patronage no less.

I might have (very fleetingly) considered H for that!!😂

It's awful, isnt it?
I can well believe the past 7 years have been hard beibg married to H. She's been married for 8 years, so I assume that she was happy enough for a while.

I've just worked that 8 years ago this month she would have been approx 3 months pregnant with Archie. Isn't that when she was suicidal? So she was suicidal 8 years ago but the 7 years since have been the worst of her life?

ThatCyanCat · 22/10/2026 14:20

She could have done, though! She broke the standard mould for marrying into the family and initially she was warmly welcomed and popular with the public. Had she played the game, she absolutely could have become credited with being a breath of fresh air in the stuffy institution. Not being king and queen in waiting, she and Harry could have bent the usual rules a bit, been a bit more dynamic and really been an asset. I was really looking forward to it!

Me too, they had the most incredible opportunities. Think about the last few years, and how they could have stepped up.

FancyKitten · 22/10/2026 14:34

When did MM say the worst 7 years of her life? I missed that, was it a recent interview?

ScruffMuffin · 22/10/2026 14:36

Yeah, I really wanted to like her and was also looking forward to the projects they might get involved with, while cultuvating a more modern/ fun image.

I know, especially the Vice Presidency of the Commonwealth Trust. All that travelling, meeting lots of young people, movers and shakers. That would have been great.

FancyKitten · 22/10/2026 14:38

Harry’s childhood might have been more Stately Homes (quite literally) than we imagine… Didn’t KC have a terrible time at Gordonstoun? (according to The Crown, that’s my only source!). MM certainly found royal life not to be as cushty as she’d like!

It must rate fairly highly in the ranks of opportunities wasted would have thought.

I'm trying to think of someone else who had so many amazing opportunities and such an incredible life... and trashed it all.

I think it was the hardest 7 years, not the worst, based on astrology and something to do with the stars aligning in uranus

Imagine just thinking it would be cushty. How foolish and ignorant.

I remember discussing the wedding with a young mixed-race woman in my then work team, and she told me she'd found it incredibly moving because "I never thought I'd see someone like me be at the centre of something like that". It's just so sad, what they threw away without any thought for consequences.

Wrt KC3s health:
He knighted his dr in his NYH list - hepatic specialist. So, its likely pancreatic or liver 😕
KC3 has every right to privacy on his health.
I like that he has spoken about men checking for prostate cancer.
I think the SS hounding of C whilst she was undergoing surgery is unforgivable.

Oh my word. His treatments must be gruelling. He does amazingly well in the circumstances.

The Commonwealth, fgs! Considering how devoted HLM was to the Commonwealth, giving them that was the most tremendous compliment. They could have done so much with it.

Anyone else get the Viscount adverts in their heads when they read that Haz said this?! 😆

There was a poster (I think it was @wordler) who pointed out some time ago that the 'British press' doesn't act as a single entity, in the way that a Californian celebrity agency might do.

She also pointed out that if a UK news organisation was offered a story about one member of the RF rather than another, they now had 3 stories: the original one, the new one and the story of the attempted cover-up.
