Well we have had the attempted upstaging of the Welsh senate …..now the Oman state visit….we all hope that whatever advisors that they still have will not allow any thing to interfere with Aberfan! 🤞

Great article, except for "Welcome home, Harry." Hopefully, that was drenched in sarcasm.

I thought he said his childhood was terrible. KC was a shit dad and it's exactly NOT what he wanted for his own children? Jesus Christ, pick a lane and stay in it

ilovemykindle · 22/10/2026 11:52

If Diana was still alive there is no way on this earth that Harry would have married Meghan.

BigWillyLittleTodger · 22/10/2026 11:50

He’s “getting better” according to Harry in that interview, as if he has any inside knowledge and even if he did how dare he speak about it in an interview, and it’s not the first time he’s done that either “I don’t know how much longer my father has left” or words to that effect, he is an utter disgrace, he must NEVER be allowed to return in any form.

It's giving the vibes, oh we are very close blah blah

IMO she'd have said the same as William and H might actually have listened to her.

I think it’s something of a chronic nature that should see him surviving for quite a few years yet.
I really hope so - not just for him but for William and Catherine, and the children.
Another ten years should see the children at university or nearly finished school in Louis’ case.
Plus W&C are excellent P&P o W.
What happens to the Duchy if the Duke of Cornwall is under 18?

Please no R words….

What happens to the Duchy if the Duke of Cornwall is under 18?

The day to day management would continue under the people that have already been appointed by William.

The Duchy income, which would normally go to the Duke of Cornwall, is rolled into the Sovereign Grant until the Duke comes of age. The Sovereign Grant can therefore be reduced as required.

This is my recollection - I haven’t looked up the wording this morning.

MrsDanversGlidesAgain · 22/10/2026 11:56

If Harry is giving hints about his father's health then that's even more reason to keep him at arm's length. BP has refused to release any specific details - rightly, in my opinion - and they know that if H gets inside knowledge it'll be in an interview before they can turn around. he has absolutely no concept of respect for other people while demanding it for himself.

Surely it's more likely to be what his expression does to them, AutumnCrow?

These days he often looks just plain tortured, either angry or as if he's just about to be angry and it can't be a happy way to live

Harry the Lovable Rogue era is well & truly over. I think others are right in saying that this was a carefully crafted persona. Left to their own devices, HAM’s public image is in tatters…

Warmhandscoldheart · 22/10/2026 12:04

I think a very good indication of KC's current health will be if he goes ahead with his upcoming Caribbean tour.

He was never a loveable rogue. That's so very obvious now. He is and has always been a loathesome individual. My god though, those MIGs certainly know how to do their job.

That's a good point, George is likely to have to step up earlier than William had to I hope he can still be allowed to live as normal a life as it's possible as William was (accepting that this normal is different!)

I think this is why William and Catherine spend as much time as they can with the children, especially doing few RF things during school holidays. They are aware of how much time they will be away from the children, irrespective of their ages, when William becomes king, so are being very firm (correctly imo) their family, currently comes first.

Of course this comes back directly to the WRF being 2 short following HAM leaving.

Starryfifty · 22/10/2026 12:20

If Diana were alive and HAM were married. Diana would be estranged from both of them also. She's only valuable to them because she's dead. Diana would be 💯 behind her son as mother of the future king. I'm sure she would be so proud of William

I often think that William is dammed if he does and dammed if he doesn't.

Spend time parenting his children and he is workshy
Leave them with nannies and he is out of touch distant and perpetuating the faults of previous generations

He had the advantages of being young, so it could be youthful folly that he learned from and left behind as he matured, and being the spare, so it didn't really matter if he did stupid things because he didn't have the responsibility of becoming king looming over him. William simply could never have had that kind of leeway, even as a youth.

I thought, back in the day, that he hated being royal and wished he could just live like common people, and I sort of liked him for that. And when they buggered off to America I took that as proof and thought he was going to do that; obviously not like actual common people but relatively low key and normal, like Zara. But it's clear now he does enjoy being royal when it suits him... hearing him whine about having the smaller room in Balmoral in Spare really pissed me off. I'm the youngest of three, Harry, I always got the box room when I wasn't sharing with my sister because there were only two rooms. That's just how it is!

I think he was always inadequate and entitled, and was always bound to end up loathsome although had he married more wisely then the public may have remained unaware of his true nature.

However I think a lot of the simmering rage and extreme bitterness is something Meghan has cultivated in him.

This is why I've sometimes wondered if the family were only too glad to see Megxit, Starryfifty, and whether how Harry's behaved since is really any surprise

Totally different circumstances of course, but I've no doubt Edward VIII's abdication suited some just fine too. A mess at the time of course and a hell of a burden for the fragile George VI to take on, but perhaps better that than a traitor king?

readbutdonotpostoften · 22/10/2026 12:28

Interestingly with the abdication v HAM, it has always been reported Edward did not want to be king, Wallis was a very convenient way of not continuing. Wallis never wanted to be Queen I am sure - there are many reports she did not want to marry Edward or for him to abdicate.

HAM, most certainly want to be king and queen!

One had it all and gave it up, one had a pretty good life but wants more! Both couples causing damage to their family and the RF.

I think so too. They were probably relieved he was gone.

He was never going to marry a sensible, wholesome type though. He's so shallow. He was thrilled to get the "hot girl". He didn't look at the very obvious red flags. He's exactly where he deserves to be

Meghan would have loathed Diana's role in Harry's life had she been alive, she couldn't have tolerated it. I dont think there is a family on this earth that Meghan could have married into and truly developed genuine affection for. There's something genuinely wrong with her.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 22/10/2026 12:31

Agree about the cultivation, @SiegfriedSassoon, though I've always thought she found that necessary in order to build her narrative of "needing to leave"

Harder to see why it needed to continue once in the US though, since spite and fury was never going to get them what they wanted, but they may not even have the insight to understand that

As I've said so often, total and utter inadequacy ...

She doesn't even like her own blood family so no chance of liking anyone else, she just seems so fake but maybe she's just completely out of her depth

They are playing a dangerous game with the media. On the one have it’s oxygen to Meghan (I mean As Ever) they need the promotion, the buzz. On the other hand they worry about privacy, security. They need to constantly work at their profile so that they don’t actually risk becoming private citizens.

But what about Harry’s battles with the press? It’s like a game of cat & mouse with the DM. MM, say what like about her, has definitely been a victim of “build em up & knock em down” Remember them on the cover of Time? On the eve of worldwide glory… Well, that didn’t quite happen!

Edited

I don’t think there was a deliberate media attempt of ‘build them up knock them down’

H&M were very popular with the public in the early days - she is a very attractive and superficially charismatic woman, it was a love story and the all the wedding pomp and ceremony gripped the nation. Her being a woman of colour was also significant and potentially refreshing to the monarchy.

All that narrative content sold loads of papers and that’s all the media cared about.

But leaks emerged about another narrative from behind the curtain - H&M’s appalling behaviour towards family, friends and staff which showed very different and difficult characters.

Then the media started reporting on this ‘gossip’ - but H&M then handed the media a shovel to dig their graves by The Flounce Announcement, OW, NFs, Spare, interviews etc - all free unfiltered gold dust media content direct from the horses mouth.

The media didn’t need to ‘knock them down’ - H&M did that themselves and continue to do so with their delusional, grandiose, entitled, arrogant, demanding and bullying words, actions and behaviours. They are just a 24/7 pantomime they themselves serve up for free daily content opportunities for ridicule. And there are lots of people delighted to see the sorry slide of the hideous bullys.

Alex Larner's book The Crown in Crisis is a very good study of this. Read it and you realise that Wallis Simpson deserved a public vote of thanks for removing him.

Oh Diana the mother would be the first to go in Meg's eyes. Catherine was the sister Harry never had and he said he adored her. She had to go
