Well we have had the attempted upstaging of the Welsh senate …..now the Oman state visit….we all hope that whatever advisors that they still have will not allow any thing to interfere with Aberfan! 🤞

Boredom causes problems. I know when I'm not busy in work or with other stuff, I tend to ruminate which isn't healthy. That must play a part with this pair. They don't seem to have any interests either. So unbelievably vacuous.

Think it’s a lot more than 1million a year on security…. and I believe that’s one of the main reasons they are back.
H wants security paid by others very badly indeed.

Is this likely to happen now ? I'm sure we would hear if he got his full bells and whistles

I was just wondering this… For all the Mom talk, I think Meghan probably has a lot of help (especially from Doria when the kids were small). She spends time working (getting her hair done etc…). Harry, what does he do all day? Is he a SAHD? They must have a nanny, can’t imagine them on the school run…

Honestly I dont think Doria is actually a very maternal person. She seems to have abandoned meghan for a good portion of her childhood. Theres no indication that she has a close relationship with her grandkids, or even meghan. If there were tons of photos of her playing and looking happy with the kids they would have been posted on Instagram as part of their 'happy family away from the cold royals' narrative. I'd imagine that the bulk of child rearing is done by nannies in that household

I will admit that I was sort of 'introduced' to the Aberfan disaster by The Crown. I'd heard of it in passing but that episode really brought it home. I also did some reading about it after that episode. I simply cannot imagine the horror and devastation.

There is a documentary on IPlayer about the disaster. It largely concentrates on the efforts of the village to get compensation for the disaster and the removal of the tips (and it shows how government at the time was an absolute bloody disgrace with the way they were treated), but it does show the scale of the disaster and the rescue efforts - made all the more poignant and dreadful because it's all in black and white.

It's called Aberfan - The Village That Fought Back on BBC2.

Thank you for the recommendation, but being in the US I can't access BBC/BBC iPlayer.

I don't think even a VPN will do, since I wouldn't have paid the license fee.

Yes these are the kind of perks of being part of the RF. It’s a life of service that is rewarded. Meghan got the wrong end of the stick about it all. The baby shower was the first sign of this (okay, and the Hollywood wedding guests). She wanted more.

Meghan always wants more. Her avarice, greed and envy are what has poisoned her whole life.

This may have been posted already (currently read up to page 22) but this is from Rebecca English:

”I know I write about the royals, but this from Aberfan today just broke me.
It’s from Diane Thomas, 78, a rescuer from the Red Cross who was only 18 at the time of the disaster, and spoke to Prince William.
She said: ‘The chapel had been converted into a mortuary so I spent three nights in the mortuary, bathing the children, to try and get slurry off their little faces so their parents could recognise them.
‘I took the anorak off one little boy, put my hand in his pocket and came out [with a note that] he’d had eight out of 10 for spelling. I’ve been trying all these years to think about how I can trace his mum. I can’t but I want to tell her because I was the last person to hold him and bathe him.’
This is why today is so important.”

This puts the extra sausage into perspective, doesn’t it?

I have a question as far as removing HaM's titles go. Could Parliament remove them 'on their own'? I believe they give assent to the Monarch's desire to remove titles, but do they have the power to, shall we say, 'strongly encourage' the Monarch to do so?

I can understand some of the reasoning behind KC not removing the titles. HaM are a pain in the arse to him and have said and done some spectacularly stupid and/or cruel things, but if we have to look at AMW as the 'precedent' for title removal, HaM still fall pretty short of that. And there's the matter of giving them more fuel for their "We was WRONGED!!!" fire.

But if Parliament was to 'recommend' removal then wouldn't KC have little choice? Not saying that would ever happen, I'm just curious.

Things an 18 year old should never have to do or see or be haunted by all her life....Harry doesn't bloody know he's born. Over-indulged spoilt little whiner.

Williaminagingerwig · 21/10/2026 16:13

I think being part of an Air Ambulance crew gave William perspective, if he didn't have it before. Real lives, real emergencies, real loss.

Yes, because Parliament is Sovereign, of course. If it came from them, it would be made law. KC only has to sign the Assent.

Are you okay?

MrsDanversGlidesAgain · 21/10/2026 16:23

I pity you. I really do,

I realise that the intention when 'post ' is pressed is for the recipient to crawl into a corner and berate themselves for their life choices and just generally upsetting whoever posted it, but does someone who does this actually realise the daftness of saying this?

You're pixels on a page. We haven't the faintest idea who you are or why your pity should mean anything to us, let alone bother us. It's the 'I really do' that's the killer. Who ARE you, exactly, and to use a phrase much beloved on here, why should we care?

I have a question on the back of your question; if HaMs’ titles were removed, would they be able to challenge this in a British court? We all know how fond H is of his court cases!

BigWillyLittleTodger · 21/10/2026 16:25

It is a noticeable pattern on here that when the HAMs are spectacularly failing and making tits of themselves and the Royals are doing what they do best and magnificently so as the State banquet and the Aberfan memorial shows, the name calling and personal attacks ramps up several gears.

AutumnCrowSeesDensePeople · 21/10/2026 16:25

IdaGlossop · 21/10/2026 13:58

King William would be able to support H financially for ever without having znything to do with him. H on the streets would be a bad look for the monarchy.

It would be a hell of a warning though to what @Sometimeroyalist calls potential ‘malign funders’ and all the potential destabilisers and their puppets.

I've seen their income estimated to be around £2-3 million a year - mostly from sponsorship and media deals.

I'm guessing that this is how H&M thought that they could earn & perhaps view Zara as having a HIHO?

Of course she doesn't have a title & I think also isn't HRH.

Most of all though people are willing to work with her!

IMHO they could have easily had what Zara and Mike have - earn their own money and still be welcome at Christmas at Sandringham, summers in Balmoral and Easter at Windsor etc.

The problem was that they wanted to exploit their titles for commercial interests AND continue to do certain events as senior royals, which was really incompatible.

Then of course their decision to sell out their family for Netflix and Spare cash made it impossible to trust them.

And then disappears having unbosomed themselves of what they think is a killer phrase of disapproval.

But neither Sarah or Diana trashed the monarchy for money, I can't see why anyone other than Harry should give her a payout in the event of a divorce, she'll want to keep hold of the two golden tickets at least until they cease to have any monetery value to her. Hopefully anything he gets when Charles dies will be well secured in Trusts she'll not be able to access. There would be no point in giving her a large settlement conditional on her silence, we all know she's a liar and also has so many puppets to speak for her.

That's what makes me laugh when people compare Meghan and Harry to Diana.

Diana was a monarchist to the core. Her issue was Charles and Camilla. She wanted to see her son on the throne

If anything, they're more like Fergie and Andrew.

Both of them married the second son.

The Duchess who arrived who was the modernising working woman, the breath of fresh air (Fergie and Meghan) compared to the more traditional, stiff sister-in-law (Diana and Kate).

Husbands who served in the army and went to combat (Harry and Andrew)

Both went to America and monetised their royal connection through books, interviews, and media ventures.

Both were accused of bullying staff and have been called difficult

MrsDanversGlidesAgain · 21/10/2026 16:28

She also had a very deep respect for HMTQ.

Predictable, low and offensive.
