Well we have had the attempted upstaging of the Welsh senate …..now the Oman state visit….we all hope that whatever advisors that they still have will not allow any thing to interfere with Aberfan! 🤞

Although following the job analogy, didn't they sort of hand their notice in to the CEO and burn every bridge on the way out....then say, well, I'm ignoring my P45 now because i have decided I'm still working here, I want my desk back and why is Steve using my mousemat.

Exactly

They went scorched earth and made a name for themselves trashing the CEO, their work colleagues and the company in the press, on TV, social media and print....

Then 6 years later they rock up again and demand their old job back - but they want the corner office, a company car, use of the corporate flat and their pick of work assignments 🙄

I think it's worse because before the geographical difference gave an excuse to the lack of closeness. The completely different culture and lifestyle meant it was possible to claim that their choices were different but just as valid. Whereas now they just look desperate, pathetic, lonely and foolish. It's very sad for the children.

Exactly, It’s all another public humiliating chapter for Harry and Meghan, pleading for reentry and proximity to the RF. They seem to have finally recognised, but not yet admitted, the RF was their only ticket to all the things they desired,

Are they only back three months ?

Less than 3 months IIRC - they arrived in late August, so it's only 2 months. The Express is saying that they are considering moving back to the US already, or at least spending protracted periods back there - which makes me even more sorry for those poor children. Just bloody SETTLE to something FGS!

mysoddenbananabread · 21/10/2026 13:23

I agree - they definitely look more foolish when living here. When in California they could drop the occasional photo or item looking " busy" . Now we see at first hand the reality. Looking out my window today I bet Meghan was wishing she was swishing about in bare feet with her baskets of garden goodies.

I haven't finished the thread , but (& those more knowable than me please chip in ) I think removing Prince if it were easy to do and also making Duke and Duchess for life and reverting to the Crown sounds a good idea. My only question would be on what grounds do you remove Prince? He's an irritant. I think if he made other speeches eg talking about Trump and Putin as he did in Ukraine, as a Prince , that might be a reason for making it clear and removing Prince . Talking in word salad with the continual hand gestures about his grief , not so much a danger to the WRF or how other countries perceive what he is saying and not understanding he does not represent HMG. At the moment he's like a little boy trying to stop a tank with a conker. Clickbait - yes , a real national problem , I'm not sure.

ETA - I missed the Aberfan visit was being reported on live - please anyone scroll past this and concentrate on that. 💐

I think he's more than an irritant. In today's papers, H's reconciliation story is the dominant Royal story, not the Omani state visit. It clear HaM are determined to do as much damage as they can. Summoning H to sit before courtiers for a warning (to shut up, which they won't do) then removing the titles is the only way to put a distance between HaM and the royals.

I haven't watched the full interview yet but H should not be commenting on his father's health. It's a private matter and for the king to say something publicly if he wishes.

@Guggy
“From KC3 he might want the basics for his son and grandchildren - to be safe and housed - which might mean use of a UK property and funding private security - if they are truly broke. He did the same for his gross brother.”

Can you honestly see HaM accepting an old fashioned farmhouse stuck out in the country ?

Seajaye · 21/10/2026 13:25

Harshreality · 21/10/2026 07:26

Probably been said before, but how exactly would H see a reconciliation playing out? No member of the RF can trust that a word spoken or action taken in the presence of HAM would not be used for future ammunition against them? Or twisted? HAM have proven they cannot be discreet and any meeting with W would just be regurgitated for attention at some future point.

A proper reconciliation can't possible work out from RF perspective without some acknowledgement and evidence fom Harry, that his conduct and that of his wife has demonstrably changed in an acceptable & better way. But it hasn't yet, so he's not going to get very far, Prince or not, with his wordy nonsense.

What he hasn't made clear is if he actually wants a route back in as a working royal and whether his wife is also up for the changes that would be needed .

.Perhaps he and she should try a reconciliation with her father first as that might be easier to achieve..

Starryfifty · 21/10/2026 13:25

I would say KC is more angry than sad tbh. Not just for himself but his eldest son who has never put a foot wrong and is tolerating constant nonsense from Harry.

Dontevenlookatme · 21/10/2026 08:50

I watched H’s interview in full.

My overriding impression is that it was extremely dull, rambling and uninspiring. There was a lot of self referencing, he sees himself as having wisdom to impart but in reality there’s no substance behind what he’s saying that could be of use to anyone.

He seems to think he’s doing important work and yet he can’t string a sentence together that demonstrates what that is.

He also came across as brittle and short tempered. There was no evidence of the warm and jokey Harry that the media seem to see. Even when he was exchanging so called banter with the interviewer it felt snippy. If that’s the way he responds to interviewers you can understand why they’re reluctant to push him. I don’t think it can have been a pleasant experience.

The only part of the interview I engaged with:

H - “I’m a Prince!”
Interviewer - “So?”

Superbly put, Dontevenlookatme, and the "brittleness" probably comes from some level of realisation that they're no longer fit for either the RF or anything more commercial

Sadly for both this is where their own hubris has brought them, and their way forward will only be seen in time

SqueakyDinosaur · 21/10/2026 13:26

In PR terms, I think that Camilla and Catherine should both have worn new-to-them tiaras last night, because that would have put a lot more tabloid attention on them and the state visit. I get that they're grey-rocking, but it does seem like a very obvious and easy opportunity missed.

KC3 has a conscience. I think he will arrange property and an allowance for H so he is provided for, and trust funds for A&L. If M chooses to live in the UK with H, that's her decision - or not.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 21/10/2026 13:30

Badvocthebad · 21/10/2026 08:53

Wasn't there another book planned after "spare"?
<fervently hopes not>

Harry said at the time that 400 pages worth hadn't made the final cut, Badvocthebad, and suggested that nobody would ever forgive him if he'd included whatever was in them

Since there (quite rightly) doesn't seem a lot of forgiveness anyway that raises the possibility of him publishing them anyway, but I'm not sure there's any point now as he's so thoroughly discredited

SiegfriedSassoon · 21/10/2026 13:31

I think HaMs fan base will be dwindling fast now. They look foolish and a lot of fans are going to be left feeling foolish.

They've spent years emotionally investing and connecting with this narrative around the UK being racist, it being dangerous for Harry's family to even visit, that Harry found his freedom from the oppressive Firm he was trapped in, Meghan reclaiming her 'voice', the fairytale love story that was like no other, the freedom flight, the escape, the SoCal aesthetic, the American dream - all so superior to bitter, dreary, prejudiced Britain. For reasons best known to themselves, it meant something to many HaM fans to think that the royal family were discarded, snubbed, rejected. This was Meghan's triumph and those who identified with her revelled in it.

Harry and Meghan rushing back in this strange, inglorious manner and putting their children in UK school has left many with egg on their face, they will feel like HaM have let them down.

KatherineParr · 21/10/2026 13:32

I've written out ridiculously long posts before saying that it is a) more practical and b) more appropriate to remove the Prince title and leave them as non royal Dukes. It wouldn't stop the media attention though.

The RF would be incredibly foolish to reconcile. At the moment the distance means that there can be no allegations about anything since Megxit. Why would they make themselves vulnerable like that?

Guggy · 21/10/2026 13:33

Bigcat25 · 21/10/2026 12:49

Yes I noticed the brittleness too. Early in the interview he interrupted as ZB was asking him a question, as if signaling not to push too hard.

I found him quite offensive, pushing contact on nc family members without their consent, and not acknowledging his role or that some people are nc for very good reason.

It angered me as it hits close to home with similar language a relative of mine is using. Wanting to act like a problem never happened instead of working through it in a grown up way and admitting accountability.

What was the point or the context of this interview with GQ? Was he banging the drum for IG or another initiative? Or was it just a PR grab to present himself as some big gun thought leader to hire?

Do we assume the Qs (so those around reconciliation) were agreed ahead which would mean that this was PH agenda for the interview and his return to the UK - to reconcile for his own self serving commercial needs - but BP/KP are not taking his calls so he is attempting to make BP/KP hear his demands via a public megaphone but even in this begging effort is unable to contain his spite, blame and contempt.

He just shows himself day in day out with his choice of words, actions and behaviours to be a man with zero integrity or dignity. That NC icy wind from BP/KP is just getting colder and colder by the day. What a clown.

I don’t think H had any say in the timing of the release of this interview which (correct me if I’m wrong) was conducted a few weeks ago.

The DM article has it inserted in their coverage of the Omani State Visit. I hope other papers will be more respectful and current affairs focused.

As things are it’s a distraction.

I used to be of the view that since A and L would be the last Prince and Princess in that line, it made sense to just leave well alone as the problem would solve itself.

Now I think that precisely because the titles are about to die out, why wait? What is the purpose of A and L carrying a title bestowed by the British Monarchy when they will never have a role serving it?

I know people think that might be perceived as petty or vindictive, but it’s up to the King to rise above that criticism. If there’s a good reason to contain the spread of royal titles and keep them within the established court, then whether Joe Public thinks it’s mean is irrelevant.

As opposed to the one that was gifted to Diana by the Queen and has only been worn by Catherine since the death of Diana ? I think that one did very nicely.

The RF cannot reconcile. Even if they wanted to (which I doubt).
They would never be able to relax or trust HaM.
As the eldest sibling of 3 and with 2 siblings Ikeep very much at arms length, I do have sympathy for W.
But...when people show you who they really are, you need to pay attention.

robert jobson was on JK earlier. He was always very much on the side of grey rocking. However, after that disastrous interview, he's now back tracking. It wasn't dropped accidentally. Harry fully intended it to go out on the day of the state visit. He said action needs to be taken and soon

Yesterday upthread I wrote about the timing of the release of the interview from a PR owrspective. The key point is that it's bread-and-butter stuff for the PR person to talk to publications about release dates. The chance of Liam Maguire not having had that conversation is tiny. Similarly, the PR person would check for any possible news conflicts. My view is that Liam told them about the clash when there was time to agree a different release date and they gave him the green light to agree the clash.
