Well we have had the attempted upstaging of the Welsh senate …..now the Oman state visit….we all hope that whatever advisors that they still have will not allow any thing to interfere with Aberfan! 🤞

What assets do you imagine they will receive from KC ?

I would not put it past MM to either be hanging out for a substantial divorce settlement or something in the royal will; and given that KC has centenarians or near centenarians on both sides of immediate family in her place I wouldn't hang around for the latter, despite his cancer.

Sarah Ferguson received a very modest settlement . Diana received millions as mother of a future Monarch .
Not sure Harry will be able to afford a huge settlement and if KC gets involved ( doubtful) there will conditions attached .

I really don’t agree with those who think Charles is weak and allowing Harry to push him around. He’s seen him what, three times in the last few years, all at Harry’s instigation, pointedly didn’t mention him on the US trip, didn’t get him invited to anything, hasn’t invited him to anything or even seen him since they came back, just issued the pointed “they’re nothing to do with me” statement, and now his response to Harry’s incessant “LOOK AT ME LOOK AT ME” is to tell everyone publicly how proud he is of William. He couldn’t be much clearer. I know the website thing annoys people but I think the ‘meh, they’re not important enough to make a fuss over, we’re too busy with actual royalling to bother with it’ is very effective. Plus their page is a very clear account of what happened, including their statements at the time, lest there be any suggestion that they were forced to leave.

Charles is right, these relationships are crucial to the UK, and it is important for all of us that William has friends and allies in countries like Jordan and Oman.

I agree.

Does she appreciate that, though? I doubt it.

That means nothing. He used to go to Scotland. He still claims he's a "Prince of England" (sic).

Sarah was married to a spare, with no income except his navy salary.

Diana was married to the Prince of Wales, who had Duchy of Cornwall funds, so she could go for a much bigger settlement.

And I wonder if H has realised that the palace listened to his maunderings yesterday (as I'd expect them to do) and HM tailored that bit of his speech as a response.

I don’t think for a moment that the King did. Diplomatic speeches are too important for that, and are carefully constructed over time.

I think the point being made was of close links with the Omanis over generations. I do wonder if that was why the Crown Prince was the second guest for this state visit, rather than the Sultan’s wife.

Edited

The Honourable Lady does overseas visits and I’m pretty sure the Crown Prince being on this visit was because of the strong ties between the two countries (and families) and the fact we the heirs to the King and the Sultan in situ. It really is a unique situation.

I watched H’s interview in full.

My overriding impression is that it was extremely dull, rambling and uninspiring. There was a lot of self referencing, he sees himself as having wisdom to impart but in reality there’s no substance behind what he’s saying that could be of use to anyone.

He seems to think he’s doing important work and yet he can’t string a sentence together that demonstrates what that is.

He also came across as brittle and short tempered. There was no evidence of the warm and jokey Harry that the media seem to see. Even when he was exchanging so called banter with the interviewer it felt snippy. If that’s the way he responds to interviewers you can understand why they’re reluctant to push him. I don’t think it can have been a pleasant experience.

The only part of the interview I engaged with:

H - “I’m a Prince!”
Interviewer - “So?”

Yes I noticed the brittleness too. Early in the interview he interrupted as ZB was asking him a question, as if signaling not to push too hard.

I found him quite offensive, pushing contact on nc family members without their consent, and not acknowledging his role or that some people are nc for very good reason.

It angered me as it hits close to home with similar language a relative of mine is using. Wanting to act like a problem never happened instead of working through it in a grown up way and admitting accountability.

Starryfifty · 21/10/2026 12:51

I really don't believe H will be invited to the future coronation. KC will be difficult though

Surely M will be reprising the extensive legal expertise she gained from playing a small role in a tv soap some years ago , and representing him? A smart Armani suit and some killer heels and she will wipe the floor with any passing QC the Sentebale lot can rustle up, what with her legal knowledge, her dignified presence, her cutting interrogation of witnesses, her heartfelt pleading, her winning smile, her ability to connect sincerely and emotionally with the judge , the jury ( if there is one) , the warmth of her genuine and caring personality, the delicious little hand wrapped wild flower sprinkled treats she offers round at lunchtime will all combine to make it a slam dunk. Sentebale might as well give up now and save themselves the money and the embarrassment.

So will the shag in the archives be with Iain Rawlinson?

Diana was married to the Prince of Wales, who had Duchy of Cornwall funds, so she could go for a much bigger settlement.

Diana also picked a complete outsider as her solicitor to conduct the negotiations, which was a very clever move - he was unaffected by the deference to the RF that a more traditional, Royal adjacent firm might feel, and went all out to get her as much as possible.

Yes, Princess Michael is bed bound after a stroke.

Sad to read that. I know Princess Michael of Kent is often pilloried, but when I met her some years ago she was lovely.

I was at an awards ceremony and she took her time talking to each of us, and gave me some good advice (she was trying to be helpful). Later on, we had a photo op with 2 massive horses behind us (hooves like platters, let alone dinner plates). One became increasingly twitchy, and everyone except PMoK scattered. She stayed put, moved closer to the twitchy one and calmed it right down.

IME she was warm & interested, and I really liked her. When I met Princess Di, she actually wasn't as personable (maybe having a bad day IDK).

I would imagine if I had fallen out with my sibling, then had to get through both my father and my partner falling ill with cancer at the same time without their support, I would conclude I could live without them.

For me that's exactly the point, JSMill

I don't presume to imagine the horror of losing a mum at a young age and then facing the possibility of his own kids doing the same, but expect the experience may have "firmed up" a lot of things, and one would surely be knowing who your friends are

The details of Charles's and Catherine's cancers have quite rightly been kept private, but I fully expect one benefit H&M would hope for from "closeness" would be to sell that info, and I just don't see the RF risking it

Agree with JSMill. I imagine William is completely done and has made peace with his decision.

Where is all this royal glitter for the kids actually coming from? They’re as far from the royal family now as they were in California. They have no association whatsoever. It’s not happening.

I agree…..that’s the reality but MM is so delusional and grasping I believe that is what her plan is and PH is backing her up and clearly is hammering home the Prince, reconciliation, royal adjacency plan. He’s maybe more grandiose, delusional, arrogant and entitled as she is that she will just wind him up like a clockwork toy to crack on and try to force through their plan.

Not sure how long it will take for the penny to drop that they are personas non grata - same as in Hollywood. That’s when the frustration will show and the shit will hit the fan again. They have their own desperate timelines driven by cash and relevancy (KC3 reign) and MMs aim to dispose of PH …. but the RF will just keep running down the clock.

TBF he and his DCs are blood royals and I do believe if they approached reconciliation in a slower, private manner - over many years - PH and his DCs maybe reconciled with his father. But PH (wound up by MM) doesn’t have the emotional intelligence/resilience/capacity to not be volatile and reactive and to do the hard yards to build trust.

MM however will keep on trying her fake royaling or expecting her STBXH and DCs to do so.

Passingthroughagain · 21/10/2026 13:05

This picture that's now doing the rounds from the start of the Aberfan memorial should be another salutary reminder to Harry that while he's been lamenting how awful his family is over the past six years, William and Charles have grown really close. He's pushed them together/united them and they seem so comfortable and happy in each other's company. I just can't imagine Harry being like this with his dad again.

Princess Michael of Kent was on Desert Island Discs and came across in a much more pleasant manner than Princess Margaret who was condescending to say the least.

I’ve tried to find the links but the BBC has binned them off, idiots.

(caveat solidly low WC immigrant family here so no idea really but I'll give my two pence nonetheless)

What I do think though, is that being Upper MC or of a gentry-level family based in the UK would give other married-in non-royal spouses a few transferrable skills. I.e. some are educated and raised mixing in circles where they know how to keep the family name out of the mud, how to smooth connections in a non-grift low key way, they understand how important it is to mingle successfully that sort of thing.

I think iirc Sophie is descended from a Viscount by way of a grandmother, and attended private school.

I think a hasty marriage (counselled against by the RF) to someone so totally outside it, as MM is, and also so wholly unwilling to learn and unable to adapt, was part of the disaster.

I think the UK need to adopt the Swedish tradition of Prince/Princess school where marry-ins have to go through mandatory induction and training for 6-18 months before the wedding date is set.

Mylovelygreendress · 21/10/2026 11:42

What assets do you imagine they will receive from KC ?
Strikes me they are well and truly out.
I am sure KC is sad but he is also angry .

So from H&M delusional perspective these assets might be hanging on to their titles, being invited with their DCs to prominent public family events - Christmas walk Sandringham, Kates Christmas Carol Concert, BP Garden Parties, Ascot carriage ride, Trooping the Colour, etc that would be loads of royal glitter to keep MM royal adjacent to grift her commercial interests. These are passive, silent photo opps that would underpin their brand.

But I expect grandiose PH wants WRF role where he gets to ponce about and spout off. That will never happen.

From KC3 he might want the basics for his son and grandchildren - to be safe and housed - which might mean use of a UK property and funding private security - if they are truly broke. He did the same for his gross brother.

BBC reporting. Some photos are a bit distressing. IIRC the weather today was like it was 60 years ago, dismal and wet

Aberfan marks 60 years since coal tip collapsed on school and homes, killing 116 children and 28 adults

On 21 October 1966, a colliery spoil tip collapsed, engulfing Pantglas Junior School and nearby homes.

I was listening to a YouTube which had Annunciata Rees Mogg on.
She said that it would be possible to remove the Prince title and the HRH by straightforward letters patent , rather than the more complex parliamentary involvement that would be needed to remove the Duke title.
I think she's right. Removing the Duke, even if it were easy to do, would simply give Meghan a promotion to Princess Harry/Henry, except she would style herself Princess Meghan and love every minute of it. Whereas the Dukedom? As she said, we have lots of Dukes around the country, some fairly low key, some take their responsibilities and position seriously, some are total druggy criminal wasters (Duke of Marlborough being number one example).

I do think it would be worth removing the HRH (rather than it being in "abeyance", with the Sussex's clearly not signing up to that, and still using the HRH when the opportunity arises, even if it is in an empty room), and removing the Prince - would send a clear message to all.

I haven't finished the thread , but (& those more knowable than me please chip in ) I think removing Prince if it were easy to do and also making Duke and Duchess for life and reverting to the Crown sounds a good idea. My only question would be on what grounds do you remove Prince? He's an irritant. I think if he made other speeches eg talking about Trump and Putin as he did in Ukraine, as a Prince , that might be a reason for making it clear and removing Prince . Talking in word salad with the continual hand gestures about his grief , not so much a danger to the WRF or how other countries perceive what he is saying and not understanding he does not represent HMG. At the moment he's like a little boy trying to stop a tank with a conker. Clickbait - yes , a real national problem , I'm not sure.

ETA - I missed the Aberfan visit was being reported on live - please anyone scroll past this and concentrate on that. 💐
