Yes, I agree. These superfans seem to forget that HaM also insulted the whole of the UK with (a) those faked-context scenes they showed in their Netflix documentary, and (b) their many words during both the documentary and the Oprah interview.

It reminds me of Doreen Lawrence’s horrible attempt to paint the London Fire and Rescue Service as a bunch of racists. Deeply unpleasant and upsetting, and completely unnecessary and wrong.

Yes, @AutumnCrowRidingThroughTheGlen, I wonder if there'll be any reference to that in this wonderful new documentary that she and Harry are producing - or, for that matter, some of Harry's gems?

This charity, and Malala, really deserve to be Markled.

Rachel the Curious Pilot has put something up on YouTube about the Malala charity accounts. I’ll give it a watch.

Williams cricket mall event didnt even make hesdline news. Infact most of the things he does doesn't. Seems a bit of PR disaster if it isn't making headlines particularly as his role is also about bringing more publicity to organisations.

What are you talking about?

Do you mean the front pages of the newspapers?

He actually did make the front page of one of the major tabloids - on a day when you have the Pope with cancer, Tiger guy and a dumpster fire of the new WH press secretary it’s not too surprising that he only made one front page.

But every major outlet did a significant feature on the event - across all outlets of the UK and many major publications across the world - including one the main target audiences of India.

It got exactly the sort of attention you’d want and hope for if you were in charge of the Earthshot PR campaign.

And I’m sure the palace were pleased with the happy, wholesome, fun vibes of the event and the coverage.

It also got a LOT of positive, viral coverage across social media - that’s not all down to William of course - there were some significant cricketing stars there who also drove engagement.

This is way too drastic and would create so much unnecessary drama.

What Charles should do although I think he will leave it to William is amend the rules so that only grandchildren of the monarch in the direct heir line inherit HRH Prince/ss titles. It can’t be retroactively applied but it would be the most sensible going forward.

And any titles bestowed on marriage by the monarch are lifetime gifts only and then return to the Crown.

Charlotte and Louis children can be unburdened by Royal expectations and have the healthier Zara/Peter/Louise route.

If at some point something happened to George and Charlotte became heir then any children would get titles.

By the point William becomes King - if Charles gets another ten years then the Wales kids are 23, 22, 18. In 15 years 28,27,23. They will be starting families of their own.

As soon as George and Charlotte have a couple of kids the Sussexes will be 8/9/10 in the LOS and thankfully the Yorks will be out of the top ten completely.

Archie and Lili are the equivalent of Princess Margaret’s children. I suspect most people couldn’t even put a name to them. In the day, they too had controversial, parents at the heart of society gossip but they chose a much steadier and quieter life than their parents have seem to have thrived that way.

Archie and Lili are the equivalent of Princess Margaret’s children.

Not even. The Queen and Margaret were very close and her children grew up with a strong relationship with their royal cousins, including the future King Charles. They used to ride in carriages at Trooping and attend other royal family events too. That's clearly not going to happen with Archie and Lili.

Well lots of comments they aren't Royals they left ages ago, take their titles away, they are private citizens I was just thinking then why are they discussed on this board that is about the Royal Family. I am sure an appropriate board could be found other public people are discussed elsewhere.

Just seems to be conflicting views.

Fgs if you’re that bothered you need to start a thread on Site Stuff. This has got absolutely nothing to do with posters on here; site structure is a MNHQ matter.

Now can please we stick to H&M PR disasters?

QEII was allegedly very crorss about that new up-do.

My score for tomorrow is Windsors 1 Sussex 0. That's because of the weight of the Aberfan story and the tendancy of the Sussex to sabotage themselves.

Sorry if someone has said this already (working my way through the thread) but the Aberfan anniversary is not tomorrow, it’s next week. Tomorrow is the ceremonial opening of the Senedd.

Princess Margaret was reportedly a highly effective parent. Both her children have found a way to earn a good living through creativity. We never hear any bellyaching from them. They occasionally attend big Royal events and look at ease without drawing attention to themselves. Excellent role models for A&L.

I meant in terms of LoS - Harry and his kids seem relevant in royal adjacency now but in the long term they aren’t.

Re the walkabout, there were rumours that the Sussexes had been planning their own walkabout, with cameras (possibly Netflix), and that the walkabout with all four of them was done to prevent that.

@Mylovelygreendress ·
Thanks Jeff and good to “ see” everyone again.
If I may just pop back to the walkabout following the Queen’s death. Meghan was captured on film snapping at an aide , spotted the camera and immediately switched on the rictus grin .

Yes! I wanted to comment on thread #49, but I was too late. The aide was the same person sitting behind Meghan when Harry gave his speech about Mandela at the UN (July 2022). The fact that the aide was among the onlookers during the walkabout with W&K makes it reasonable to think that H&M had intended to do it on their own...

Exactly this A&L are completely alienated & estranged from the Royal Family due to the behaviour & actions of their parents.

They have missed out on so many lovely family events & I can't see them ever being in the fold.
Beatrice, Eugenie, Peter, Zara's children & also on a lesser scale Freddie Windsor's kids will all have lovely memories of growing up with royal events , lovely Christmassy events, meet ups with Charlotte, George & Louis..

Archie & Lili will have none of those memories of what it was like to be a child within the royal family & all because of their parents.

I don't even think they're relevant now.

They're fairly high up the LoS but there's no realistic chance of them ever being near the throne. They are never seen at royal events or with other members of the family. Harry's cousins' children are lower down the LoS and not the King's grandchildren, but they are often seen at royal family events. Even Beatrice's stepson Wolfie is more 'relevant' than Archie and Lili in that sense.

Highly plausible, given that they saw fit to announce to the wurrld they were standing down as working royals without bothering to inform my grandmother.

I truly think HaM thought that A and L were their way back in , that KC would be so keen to build a relationship that they would be included .
Not for the first time HaM misread the situation .

Dear oh dear. I think you’re right. So what do you think HaM will do? Carry on ‘dangling’ the children on social media, getting more and more angry (H) and desperate (M)?

I wonder what the MIGS have predicted will happen. Are they waiting for a massive mis-step, I wonder. That could get messy.

Mylovelygreendress · Yesterday 18:36

I feel sorry for the children . HaM will have a lot of explaining to do when they are older .

Not every event William does is about PR or trying to get maximum press coverage. William doesn't care about getting as many cameras around him and appearing on the front pages every day. The cricket was just a fun, informal event in connection with the Earthshot awards in India, it wasn't meant to be some major engagement. I'm pretty sure his visit to India next month, possibly accompanied by Catherine, will be a huge media event.

@booknerdhead
For some reason, I can’t imagine a suicidal thought entering Meghan’s head. The reason being I suppose she does not appear vulnerable in any way, although I may be wrong

Well, I don't know. It is impossible to know what is going on in another person's mind. However, I must say that Meghan seems—to me—emotionally stronger than Harry, whereas Harry appears more fragile. In this marriage, Meghan has gained a great deal, while Harry has lost far too much. When the time comes—if he perceives it that way—his reaction will be unpredictable. I believe his family knows this and dreads that moment.

@bluegreygreen
It is also one of the reasons I have lost respect for Harry in particular. As someone with a history of knowledge around mental health, including setting up a support organisation long before he was married (Heads Together), he has been very inconsistent in his public comments since then: saying that he didn't know how to get help for his wife, was 'ashamed' to do so, etc.

  • *Exactly; he had access to resources that the average person does not. As founder of Heads Together, he would have had rapid access to top specialists. That is why his statements regarding Meghan’s suicidal thoughts raise doubts about whether those thoughts actually existed and besides Harry's ability to talk about mental health

When I saw the cricket yesterday, I did think how lucky we are to have W. I do believe in a constitutional monarchy but I do accept it is the luck of the draw with who will be the heir. W is warm, genuine and charming. He’s also handsome and sporty. I don’t know much about cricket but he looked like he was handling himself well yesterday. His genuine interest in the sports the majority of the public actually care about makes people who aren’t normally into the RF take notice - his interest in football has definitely made him go up in favour with the men in my family, even my socialist republican dad!

There’s none so blind as those who can’t or won’t see. 🙈

Fact - William is flourishing and hardly an engagement goes by where it’s not on the front page of the newspapers.

His cricket match was reported on and I’ve also just read about the visit he’s been on today.

You make it very easy for people to contradict you.
