Yes, and she’ll use her new “English countryside” laydee of the manor shtick to flog it all back to her US market. MM will wear whatever cap fits on the day. Montecito is over.

Edited

Yes she'll be like Madonna when she married Guy Ritchie & moved to the Cotswolds.. transformation overnight decked out in Barbour & speaking with a fake British accent!
The American's will see they are very unwelcome here & won't fall for her cringe marketing!

FancyKitten · Yesterday 15:49

MM was clearly testing the waters with Malala, to see how tomorrow will go…
Most importantly though, wonder what she’s gonna wear?

Why would Royal Rota be there for HAM ??? Palace letter was very clear, I thought

The point about the Royal rota is that they are a group of Royal reporters, each representing a different newspaper/media group. The ““rota” bit means that they don’t all turn up at the same event at the same time to get coverage for their respective organisations. They have a rota where one journalist and one or two photographers will cover an individual event, and then freely share all of their material with the other journalists in the group. This means each organisation can cover the Royal visit while the venue itself is not swarmed with photographers and/or reporters, meaning the events are easier to manage and presumably security is also easier to manage.

Given that a rota member will be covering Royal family official events on the day that Megan and Harry are in Nottingham, that will leave quite a few of the rota pool free and able to travel to Nottingham to see Megan and Harry, I would expect?

The letter was clear but Royal Knicker et al are still writing about the Sussexes.

Very true, Ida, but I do sometimes wonder if the coverage suits the RF in at least one way ... that of discovering exactly what H&MS' reception is before making future decisions

I realise I'm in a minority here, but still believe that if the public welcome had been better there'd be a chance of a greater profile for them - at least while Charles lives - and that various reporters are almost doing his job for him

And if Angela Levin's right about them previously ghosting tomorrow's charity, @Starryfifty, you have to wonder why the hell they're having H&M back.
It may be that last time the charity needed them, and it's definitely the case that they now need the charity, but it still seems a dubious choice to me

Harry is the King's son yes, but he's in his 40s. His behaviour only reflects on him, not the institution he stormed out of nearly 7 years ago. I'm also not sure what you expect the Palace to do about him and his wife conducting faux royal 'engagements'. Charles made it very clear that they are not representing the Monarchy so other than that, there's not much he can or should do.

As they are private citizens then as you say do not represent the monarchy one does wonder why they are discussed on a Royal Family board now perhaps all H&M threads need to move elsewhere. 🤔

THE Royal rota won’t be there for any H&M events because the rota is a system organized by the palace to manage the press pack.

Reporters who cover the rota beat for their publications might be sent by their editors to cover H&M because they want to make money and drama and controversy sell much more than worthy causes.

If the events are popular and successful they’ve got a rival court narrative to spin.

If they tank they’ve got a dumpster fire narrative to spin.

Tabloids win either way.

BemusedAmerican · Yesterday 15:53

People are not showing up at his other events. Why would they show up at Nottingham? And if you hire a large crowd of extras, someone will let something slip.

Also, I don't see how Meghan can sell the UK lifestyle to the US. Our country finances are terrible. She has no potential market. If I want the country look, I can shop at LL Bean and buy clothes that will last a decade. I just accepted a delivery from a service that ships directly from farms. I paid $11 for a pound of raw honey from a clearly specified apiary, as well as for milk, cheese, yogurt, and veggies from small farmers and bread from an artisan bread maker. I've got over a weeks worth of food, with delivery tip, for less than an As Ever hamper. Why waste money on white label products?

I don't expect the palace to do anything about the faux royal engagements. What I think they should do is work with the Cabinet Office to remove the dukedom and Prince designation through Act of Parliament or other instrument to create greater distance between HaM and the monarchy. Queen Marguerite needed far less provocation to take equivalent action in Denmark. The current situation reflects poorly on the monarchy and by extension on the UK. We already have the reputation for being unstable because of Brexit and the prime-ministerial merry-go-round.

They're still members of the royal family, even if they don't officially represent the Monarchy.

Where do you suggest the threads be moved to? Presumably all the Andrew threads should be moved too, as he is also a private citizen?

Both Harry and Andrew are still Princes of the Blood.

A celebrity board maybe, the King made it clear they sre private citizens though. Andrew is still being propped up by the King and living in Royal residence so not sure if those should be moved. Its just a thought since much is made of how H&M are private citizens now and they don't represent the monarchy.

I disagree. Taking titles is an extreme step. It needed to be done in the Andrew case, but nothing the Sussexes have done is at that level and I don't see what the benefits would be of such a drastic move.

Queen Marguerite needed far less provocation to take equivalent action in Denmark.

I don't think the situations are 'equivalent'. Margrethe removed titles from all 4 of her non direct line grandchildren. It was similar to what King Carl Gustav of Sweden had done a few years prior, but more far reaching in that the Swedish kids kept their Prince and Princess titles, just not the HRH.

Removing titles from the King's son due to his 'behaviour' would be a huge controversy for no obvious benefit. Harry would absolutely challenge it every step of the way, like his 'security fight' times 100, and it would drag on and on and just be a massive pain. And for what end?

There is actually something very important that KC can do - he and parliament can remove H from the line of succession and remove the titles from him M and A, L.
KC should do this sooner rather than later but I suspect he will dither and leave it to KW - I suspect KW will also restore HRH to Diana.
ETA - as the Danish queen did to the younger brother and his family relatively recently. She then gave up the throne for the first born son.

There's no 'celebrity board'.

The name of the forum is 'The Royal Family'. Harry and Meghan are members of the royal family. So I'm not sure why these discussions should be moved.

That’s as unlikely as it is that H&M would decide to quietly serve others without alerting the press.

Interesting point about coverage of HaM being useful to the RF. Seen through that lens (🤮), they are digging their own grave. Coverage in a nutshell is: drama, whinging, fabrication, booing, risible fashion, entitlement, bad planning, Cotswold cold shoulder, exploited children.

It's beyond me to understand why charities have any truck with HaM.

As I've said above, the Danish situation was quite different.

If you start removing people from the LoS, which btw would be a huge procedure which would require the approval of all the Overseas Realms, simply because you don't like the way they've behaved, you call into question the whole concept of Monarchy. Not even Andrew was removed from the LoS. The idea that this will happen is a bit of a fantasy.

There is absolutely nothing Harry could do about it if titles were removed. He can rant and stamp his feet about it but that's it.

That is a good point. The pound shop royals are getting a lot more interest than the real royals. Tomorrow will be a test.

Why yes, if one goes screaming across the stage of a theatre with no clothes on they will draw more interest than those standing quietly to the side while it happens.

I also agree that the titles should be removed but I'd imagine we will need to wait for William & Catherine's reign for that.
Titles should be respected & honoured as well as the family that bestowed the Titles, they sold very nasty stories about the RF & that would be enough for me.
Also they don't seem to understand the terms of the Sandringham agreement & are trying to navigate it to suit themselves.

When the time comes William will do what needs to be done in regards to H&M

Andrew lost the style of Royal Highness, and the title of Prince, by letters patent last November.

Margrethe. Apologies for spelling error.

Your royal knowledge is obviously much superior to mine and your views may therefore be more valid than mine.

Still, the behaviour is extreme. An extreme step would match it. Andrew's actions are morally far worse, but HaM's are more visible. The opinion polls suggest many would welcome the titles being removed.

I haven't anything new to add to what I've already said. The end would be creating distance as the next step in the continuous campaign to preserve the monarchy.
