It's actually Dum-barton, not Dumb-arton. Like Dum-fries. Dum/Dun means fort in Scottish Gaelic. I expect that was all explained when the titles were granted.

It was very well received that H&M weren't planning on giving their children titles. That aged badly!

Yet another statement/proclamation that they did a U turn on.
How come no-one ever challenges them on this?.

It’s infuriating, isn’t it? And baffling that nobody dares.

In the OW interview ( I use the term loosely) M said that she expected “ all the grandchildren “ to be treated equally and that Archie would be Prince . She also equated titles with security and made out that she was only bothered about a title so that he could receive security .

And Harry sat beside her like a nodding dog, when he knew this was utter garbage, or would have done if he wasn’t as thick as pigshit. Shame on the pair of them.

I wouldn't presume he was listening at the time either to be honest, flipped on his autopilot nod and zoned out

I agree that whatever Charles does, and he will surely help them out in some capacity, there will have to be some serious conditions attached and penalties if they don't comply i.e. a new 'Sandringham' type agreement.

Off the top of my head, if I were him, I'd say they have to move back to the UK, the Montecito house has to go to pay their debts (which he will not get involved in paying), and he'll provide them with a modest residence within a secure setting like Windsor Great Park (ETA: or maybe not, since this is where W&C live!). He'd probably agree to pay the kids' school fees and provide a stipend for them to live on, as he does with AMW, but if he does that then they have to agree to no more attacks on the family - no interviews, no documentaries, no books and no more leaks to the media. In other words, they return to the fold and are given a reasonable standard of living in return for their silence and their good behaviour. Either that, or they're on their own.

Edited

I think there will be uproar if he allows them to live on a royal estate like Windsor again. I know Andrew is on a royal estate but he was already in Royal Lodge before his exile to Sandringham.

I think if KC is going to help with living expenses he will have to either pay the rent on a place or buy them a house in KC’s name like he did for Angela Kelly.

IIRC they made a HUGE thing when Archie was born about not wanting titles for him - so everyone assumed the hamlets would be like Peter and Zara.

I suspect that the only title Meghan was interested in was Prince/Princess - hard to merch a Dumbarton (especially with Harry as his father). They could have styled Archie Lord (Baron) Kilkeel as well.

I really don't recall anything about them not wanting Archie or any of their kids to have a title. Do you have a link to where they said this?

BunnyBunbunbun · 04/10/2026 21:00

I don't think Charles is helping them financially or in any other capacity at all. They can afford to pay for all their needs and wants themselves and trying to make arrangements with them over, e.g. accommodation or school fees, would be an absolute nightmare. I'm not sure Charles and Harry have that kind of connection anymore, in any case.

Why would Pa pay the rent when they’ve got that dirty great mansion in Monteshitshow unoccupied but still eating up maintenance costs?

StartupRepair · 04/10/2026 21:10

I think if Ravec has firmly said no then Charles could pay the private security bill for them. This would answer Harry's claim that he had no choice of the family he was born into and give HaM more spending money. It would need to be made clear that it was completely out of Charles' own personal money but it would silence HAM on a couple of fronts.

Why would he do that when he doesn’t do it for any of the others?

When he was born my DB was given a soft toy, a bit like a teddy bear, but it had a plastic face fixed to the fur. It was the scariest toy I've ever seen but, strangely, DB was attached to it during his toddler years and our DP's referred to it as 'eskimo dolly'. Quite bizarre!

Was that a Chicaboo? I had one, I loved it 💕

I don't see why he should. If Ravec has said no, then presumably in their expert opinion there isn't a threat. Therefore why would H&M and the Hamlets need more security than other members of the RF?

But do they actually need security ? I know all of us on these threads find their shenanigans entertaining but are the majority of people interested ?
The Tindals , Edinburghs etc seem to manage just fine without 24/7 security.
As I - and others- have said , this all about status for Harry . He wants what his taller brother has .

Regarding security, my understanding is, the king can't pay for armed security for HAM. Which is what HAM wants. Apologies if I'm wrong

Starryfifty · 04/10/2026 21:25

I would imagine Pa wants them out of the UK asap. He may offer to pay off their Cali mortgage

You are correct .

To add , it would not look good if RAVEC says HaM don’t require 24/7 armed security if KC then steps in to pay .

Added to which, if HM pays after RAVEC says HaM don't require 24/7 security, that hands Harry the chance to say see, RAVEC is biased against me and DF agrees. It would look like HM interfering in the RAVEC decision.

Starryfifty · 04/10/2026 21:36

Wasn't H told during Sandringham agreement that he would lose his bells and whistles security if he stopped being a working royal ? Ah here, look who I'm talking about 🙄
