@ShamedBySiriwow! H’s response was about him? Wasn’t he worried about his mother? Also why would H think there would be something to embarrass him?

I thought the Markle / Kardashian friendship had cooled after the birthday photos debacle?

I thought so too . I don’t think it’s wise for HaM to align themselves with the Kardashians and Bezos. Has a whiff of the Epstein about it.

When you compare what Tom Cruise has done to promote his latest movie Digger to what HaM did to promote any of their projects, there is a vast chasm in terms of effort.

Tom attended an NFL match (Kansas City Chiefs have American sportstars Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce aka Taylor Swift's husband) to connect with the target male audience. He came to the London Premiere and hosted the Prince and Princess of Wales and the photo of Tom holding Catherine's hand as she made her way up the steps went viral...creating priceless publicity for the movie. Tom has done the rounds on network, on podcasts, in USA and overseas.

By contrast, HaM barely promoted any Netflix projects from their score settling reality show to Polo to the lifestyle show. Neither of them bothered to go on the networks, the late-night shows, podcasts, overseas showings. Just barely any effort with one or two bookings. Tom Cruise is a bankable A-list star with entire franchises under his belt and yet he outworked two industry novices...HaM...who were still seeking to establish a reputation.

IMHO, it is no wonder why Ari Emmanuel dumped HaM, why the Spotify guy called HaM f*ing grifters and why Netflix did not renew. HaM did not expect to work hard to make money and just lost money for everyone else due to their sheer laziness.

It’s incredible isn’t it?! And really, he was 12 when she died - what embarrassing details could there possibly be worthy of inclusion in a book about his mother!

Love Ray W and his acting vey much but we often laugh about his ‘cockney ‘accent as Henry V111 - Aeyan Aeyan I love you Aeyan 🤣 but then we are childish Northeners.

I used to go round saying it “Oi, shut it, Aeyan, you slaaaaag” because of that production 🤣

I'm rather sceptical about the Amazon/Invictus story. Mostly because we've heard the "oh they're definitely been asked to be the face of/sponsored by..." before and it's then been made clear that no such thing has been considered by the other party.

But also, why on earth would any person do that only if "M appears" which seems to be coming in the story?
That sounds like wishful thinking on her part that she wants everyone to know that really she wouldn't wish to appear, but she is so indispensable that she has to put aside her own views for the public good.

The only reason why I can think that anyone would make that stipulation is because

  1. They know that will give them more publicity - bad publicity, but still publicity
  2. Because they want HAM to fall on their faces and look worse.

It's not something someone who wanted to honestly support Invictus or HAM would think was good for either of them.

My skepticism about Amazon is multi-faceted.

  • Amazon is a highly successful company. It doesn't need publicity.
  • There is no synergy between a market disruptor global supplier known to virtually every household in the world and a bi-annual Olympic-style event for veterans.
  • Invictus will not enhance Amazon's brand because of negative stories about financial irregularities, weak governance and the inappropriate presence of M.
  • The shambolic Birmingham school visit shows the Invictus team can't be relied on to organise the Birmingham games professionally.
  • Harry is unstable and has a history of falling out with charity trustees.
  • It's a bad look for a multi-billion dollar business to be supporting an event that attracts only 500 competitors - and they have to pay their own travel and accommodation expenses.
  • The sponsor risks getting stuck between the Sussexes and King Charles.

The risk:reward equation just doesn't work. Don't do it, Jeff!

I enjoyed Ray Winstone’s depiction. Who is to say that Henry VIII didn’t have a ‘London’ accent? We imagine that all royals must have spoken RP throughout the annals of time but as we have no recordings it is impossible to know how they sounded.

There's a guy on YouTube called Simon Roper who does fascinating videos of how language has evolved over the last 1000 years including how people probably sounded. It's worth a look.

Charles Spencer was interviewed by Gayle King.
I transcribed some of the more hilarious bits...

On the subject of the Buckingham Palace response to the book he said:

"They have to gaslight. They have to such a pretend there's something wrong wrong with my mind or my memory - there's nothing wrong with either."

Which struck me as coming straight from the Panorama interview.

But the best bit comes from Harry, of course....

GK Have you talked to William and Harry before the book came out that you were going to do it or have you talked to them after? I'm curious about their reaction?

ES I decided not to have anyone involved in the books and nobody knew about it except my wife obviously and the publishers. I didn't tell any of the family until just before it was released publicly as a thing because I didn't want anyone to think, particularly with Harry who people know I had to stay in the summer, that he was in any way involved in this. It was really important to me that they weren’t.

GK And have you talked to them after the book?

ES I've told them both, yes I have.

GK Did they approve of the book?

ES I don't know about - I haven't asked about approval. Harry was sort of like “Is there anything in there that would be embarrassing to me?” I said absolutely not. I haven’t.. I'm very specific about people’s privacy.

GK No, It’s very complementary to both both William and Harry.

Classic. He dodged the question about whether W&H approved of the book
"I haven't asked for approval".

And Harry's response was to ask if there was anything in there that would be embarrassing to him!

Then CS rounds up that line of questioning with "I'm very specific about people’s privacy."

I'd have liked to be on the extension line when he made that call to William. If indeed he did call William.

Honestly, it's too funny. The straight faced lies and hypocrisy is olympic level.
In a competition between the three of them - well Harry isn't clever enough to win but it would certainly be a close finish between CS and Meghan.
(With Diana earning a posthumous award).

"They have to pretend there's something wrong with my mind or my memory - there's nothing wrong with either."

Yes, I'm sure the longstanding and well-documented drinking has had no effect whatsoever. Razor sharp, that mind and memory must be.

EmpressSisi · 29/09/2026 21:14

In regards to the Tudor/history chat, I was listening to the Betwixt the Sheets podcast about Lady Jane Grey/Dudley.

They were talking about how confused people on the street were when Mary and Elizabeth were bypassed in favour of Jane. The ordinary person apparently didn’t really know who she was. They were basically just going, “Who the bloody hell is that?!”

And I realised the modern day equivalent would be if William died childless and the Crown bypassed Harry because William didn’t want him to be king, then bypassed Andrew and Edward (like Henry VIII and Edward VI bypassing Margaret of Scotland) because he didn’t like them and instead went through Auntie Anne. Only to bypass Anne’s living children (Jane’s claim came through her mother, who was still alive when Jane became Queen) and we ended up with Savannah Phillips or Mia Tindall as Queen instead.

Everyone would just be standing in the street like, “WTF is going on? Who the bloody hell is Savannah Phillips? Where’s Harry?” 😂

It genuinely made me chuckle.

'I'm very specific about people's privacy.' That'll be why you have included your account of a telephone conversation between you and Prince Charles as was about the highly sensitive subject of two bereaved boys who happen to be your nephews.

StartupRepair · 29/09/2026 21:34

There is absolutely nothing new to be said about Diana. Every aspect of her life including private tapes has been exposed in numerous documentaries and books. I doubt Harry is going to bring blinding new insights.
I'm also up for the history spin-off.

I don’t think it’s laziness. I think their egos are that big that they don’t believe they should have to do these things. My understanding is that press tours are part of the contract but nobody enjoys doing them - answering the questions over and over again, doing the traveling and dressing etc. The worst part of the gig which will often have been long over. So, they just didn’t do any publicity because they didn’t think they’d have to (as Royalty). Harry’s used to the world begging for access to him, not having to sell himself to the world. Meghan was ready to attach herself to that after however many years of selling herself.

They mostly lost money because their output is shit quality. No amount of publicity can outdo a crap product (see As Ever).

I also wouldn’t trust Ari Emmanuel as far as I could thrown him. And if he’s done with Meghan, she’s finished in that world.

Having ditched the UK and having been ditched by LA, there’s nothing left for Meghan other than reformer Pilates classes and influencing and selling inside scoops. She’s shown everyone what she’s capable of, and nobody’s buying it.

Tom cruise has always been a grafter. He promotes every movie he does to the death and appreciates its all part of the job. HAM assumed their titles meant they could get away with doing absolutely nothing but achieve global stardom.

BasiliskStare · 29/09/2026 21:56

I'm not a huge fan of Tom Cruise , but I would agree he does the rounds , when he is rich enough not to. I would call him a grafter not a grifter.

He may get above himself at times , I think Top Gun II he suggested he could fly a fighter jet himself until it was pointed out to him how very very expensive these things are and "proper fighter pilots" and CGI could do the job quite well. 😊

This, plus I've also read how he takes care to show the film crew their work is appreciated, throws them a party that he pays for. He knows that while he's the star, a lot of other people also have to work hard to make it all happen. In comparison, we've had plenty of stories about how miserable and grudging HAM are to staff working for them.

Starryfifty · 29/09/2026 22:04

The Only USP for HAM is tearing down the RF. They have done it now and probably no more shit to fling the RF way. Probably only option is post divorce. It will be a nasty, vicious divorce as they will throw each other under the bus. Him, she's a psychopath who played me. Turned me against my family blah blah. Her, he's a drug addled, lazy prick blah blah

And the King was very well received when he visited the US recently. Is anyone who matters paying any attention to them? (Other than those who would use them to destabilise the country and the constitution.)
