Do you believe Charles Spencer that Charles Windsor said to him during a phone call "we'll forget her soon enough."

It’s not often that an alcoholic, serial womaniser and cruel husband who is using his dead sisters legacy to feather his own nest , gets such fervent support from the apparently moral women of mn who have spent years vilifying Charles because he was in love with and had an affair with Camilla!

I’m not supporting the men. I am supporting Diana who was ill used and the publication of an accurate commemoration of her.

CS said in the interview with LK today that W & H would “not be surprised” by the claims he made about their father.

And I’m sorry that KC has cancer obviously but serious illness doesn’t absolve you from being accountable for your past actions I’m
afraid.

And isn’t it obvious why CS wrote this book fhs? If someone in power who had caused serious harm to my sibling said that they would “forget them soon enough”; I would be doing everything in my power to make sure there was an accurate record out there accessible for everyone to read.

Charles Spencer said in the interview tonight that as a historian he wanted to make sure there was a public record of what happened. This is his attempt to say to the king, you don't get to lie and control the narrative about Diana.

And what about Spencer’s past actions? , why is he not accountable?
have you not read or heard about his treatment of women? , his cruelty to his wives ? , the fact he is an alcoholic and only got clean ( if he did in fact ) last year? , his completely differing accounts from one year to the next ?
using his dead sisters legacy to make millions of pounds for himself?
yet you believe everything he now says like gospel!
why is that ….

Oh do please point out in the current tawdry and petty extracts where exactly he’s commemorating her!

If you read Phillip and Elizabeth, CS is quoted as saying that Charles did a good job with the boys. This was 2004.

Yes he did! ….so was he telling lies then or is he telling lies now?

CrowOfTheAutumn · 21/09/2026 00:36

Having a degree in history does not make someone ‘a historian’.

Spencer couldn’t even get his facts right about when his own father was equerry to QE2.

If you remember, they both winced at the interviewer’s crass question (both shy people) and I think Charles’s response was just an embarrassed quip, that’s all.

You need to watch the longer version of that as they always cut it to favour the then Prince Charles with Diana giggling uncertainly. If you see the longer version, it ends with her looking silently to the side, confused and sad.

OneLilacHedgehog · 21/09/2026 00:42

Yes it is very sad.
Even the interviewer said later they were just expecting a general answer such, oh yes we love each other very much. It wasn't a hard hitting interview. It was a very fluffy one. So the king himself volunteered the information of whatever love is.

Charles Spencer is a historian and has published seven historical books.

He has a history degree.

He has had some books published. Lots of people have books published.

Spencer is a self-made ‘historian’ who writes a decent synthesis using his privileged access to materials, but he’s no university academic or groundbreaking scholar.

I believe they are still raking over the coals of Diana and Charles almost 40 year old engagement interview!

Spencer couldn’t even get his facts right about when his own father was equerry to QE2.

CS studied history at Magdalen College, Oxford , was a journalist for NBC and has written many very well reviewed history books.

Not true about the timing either. QE2 wrote letters to Johnnie Spencer while he was serving during WW2. She was nineteen when the war ended. So the period CS was referring to was before Johnnie became an equerry.

Edited

That’s not how it read to me, do please link the appropriate passage.

LadyWiddiothethird · 21/09/2026 00:55

Spencer is an alcoholic, clearly the booze addled his brain.Drunk or sober he is a lying cheat.

Happyjoe · 21/09/2026 00:59

I don't see what he really has to gain by lying. Am sure a few book sales won't really add that much to his vast wealth.

Indeed. Also I think the point that Spencer is clumsily trying to make is that his dad could have married QE2 were it not for Mountbatten chasing him off and … what?? He, Charles Spencer, could have been born the heir?

Well, he wasn’t - and what on earth is the point of this section of the book? It’s historically specious and frankly embarrassing. ‘If it weren’t for that pesky Mountbatten I’d have been King …’

It looks like poor journalism with many inconsistencies. It’s certainly not history and he’s no historian. I’m aware however we are currently only being presented with excerpts.

So why is he not being questioned about these inconsistencies by his interviewers?

I think he likes the limelight.

Then surely he'd have done much much more over the last 25 odd years to gain it.
