Do you believe Charles Spencer that Charles Windsor said to him during a phone call "we'll forget her soon enough."

But you have an excellent memory you have told us?

And, please do give me an example of me posting “incorrect legal stuff”. I am very much waiting….

I don't know what your comment was. The only legal comments I responded to were ones that were incorrect.

You are obviously having a personal go, so I am out

You have a one-sided view of it all.

Charles had no hope of marrying Camilla- she was married.
But how many people get married still having feelings for an old flame? One whom their parents forbid them to marry as they were not suitable? And who were under huge pressure to find a wife and produce an heir.

And whose pool of 'respectable' women was limited because they weren't virgins (in 1984 FGS!), were not C of E, were divorced or whatever.

You're making your comments without looking at everything that went on.

AND where were Diana's family, sisters, friends telling her to rethink marrying the first man (almost) she dated, who was 13 years older, she barely knew him, and with whom she appeared to have little in common?

The blame doesn't fall one way.

I do agree that Diana's own family let her down immensely. They should have had a serious all family talk about her marrying Charles but I also suspect that she thought she was in love with him that once they were married, Charles would fall in love with her. She was not worldly wise enough to realise the truth of the bond between Charles and Camilla.

She should have left when on honeymoon and she overheard him talking to Camilla saying that no matter what happened, he would always love her. That would have been my "TAXI!" moment. It would have caused a scandal and, in her shoes, I would have let it!!

Diana's mother advised her against marrying Charles.
The royal family though supported the marriage

Do you mean her mother that the Spencer family wouldn't let her see as a child? The mother who Diana refused to speak to for long periods of her life?

Really? The Spencers are interesting. Frances was 18 when she married 30 year old Johnny Spencer. Her mother, Ruth, married Baron Fermoy who was 23 years older than her.
Diana's sister Jane was 21 when she married 37 year old Robert Fellowes.
There's a pattern. Marry young, marry well.
The Spencers absolutely encouraged the match.

I found Spencer's comment that Diana would be 'cheering him on from the rafters' <who even says that about rafters?!> absolute bollocks. He is causing such shit and misery for William I would imagine Diana would be furious and another to add to the long list of relatives estranged from him.

Spencer and Harry are both so absolutely thick and delusional.

Oh yes🙄diana would be cheering on Williiam not harry of course !

I think her heart would break for all three esp since her brother's abuse has come to light.
And I think being the youngest it's Harry she would have hoped was really supported.as the youngest and the heir

They were certainly a family. Diana it also seems was very like her mother who also wpuld fall out with people and not talk to people for large periods of time.

Yes, very much a pattern in her life.
The RF were told by Johnny that Diana loved the outdoors and enjoyed reading. Not really the case.

According to his own book Spencer and Diana had hardly spoken for fifteen years,

In a letter to Diana a year before she died, he wrote: “After years of neglect on both sides, our relationship is the weakest I have with any of my sisters. “I long ago accepted that I was a peripheral part of your life, and that no longer saddens me. “I will always be there for you, as a loving brother – albeit one who has, through 15 years’ absence, rather lost touch.”

OneLilacHedgehog · 20/09/2026 21:02

It's not actually relevant though to whether the kind did say to Charles Spencer, we will forget her soon enough.
And yes I think he did.

Goodness. Happy days also said today on the L.K interview that he has been diagnosed with ADHD and RSD and also thing Diana had it. I mean that Harry jas as well is obvious. They were messed up and I do have empathy.

All these contributions are relevant because they are contextual. They inform us about the family and the behavioural problems of Spencer.

Sorry - bit of amateur psychology:

I wonder, in view of this, whether Spencer’s attack on Charles is subconsciously motivated by a sort of displaced guilt about his own treatment of her. Maybe he knows that he failed her needs an external focus for his guilt?

RoseTulips2023 · 20/09/2026 21:18

I've just watched the LK interview. Talk about Charles Spencer softsoaping his life. He starts with being alone with his children in South Africa when he heard about Diana's death. When Prince Charles called apparently he was 'rushing around the house, preparing the children' - are we seriously to believe this? He then talks at the end of the interview about his gorgeous children - some of whom he is now estranged from. It would have been interesting if LK had probed him about this. Also no discussion about how his relationship with his beloved sister had soured before her death. Nor how he has profited endlessly from his association with her.

Spencer also says that Prince Charles told Diana that he didn't love her before he married her

This is true, remember the engagement comment
"Whatever in love is"

Hey, you have no idea of that.
Evidence they didn't respect their employees private lives?

What evidence?

The Harrods scandal of his father?

You have no idea that he would have lost his job.

The Harrods /Ritz owning Fayeds regularly sexually abused employees.

Is that enough evidence?

If you remember, they both winced at the interviewer’s crass question (both shy people) and I think Charles’s response was just an embarrassed quip, that’s all.

The Spencer’s absolutely pushed for it. They even insisted she went through with it when she expressed doubts because her face was on the teatowels.

Quite! She even went to her father with concerns, but he dismissed her.

Yes, she giggled about it and smiled at Charles.

I suspect there is a lot of partisan smearing going on here, of Charles Spencer
