Warning - DM link ahead...
Copies of Earl Spencer's sensational book about Princess Diana have been stolen from a lorry – just before its exclusive serialisation in the Daily Mail.
The memoir – Swan Song: Diana, My Sister – includes revelations about Diana's deeply unhappy marriage with the then Prince of Wales.
It also describes the crisis that engulfed the Royal Family after her death in a car crash almost 30 years ago.
Last night a publishing insider said: 'Earl Spencer has kept his silence for nearly 30 years and what he has to say about the King's reaction when Diana died is utterly devastating.'
But, in an astonishing development, the Mail can reveal that a truck packed with thousands of copies of the book was broken into after it was parked overnight in a lay-by in the Netherlands earlier this week.
Just four copies, which had been wrapped in black plastic to hide their contents, were stolen in what publishing sources believe could have been an audacious plot to steal the highly anticipated book of the year before it hits the shelves.

Beyond grim is pushing it a bit. I would myself go for "tacky" and ill considered but then at least he is remembering her I've just looked at the Highgrove Gift Shop and nothing about Diana - erased from history. Now that is grim. Then I checked the Buckingham Palace Gift Shop. And there you have it the mother of the future monarch erased from history there as well.

I mean honestly what do people expect? She’s been dead 30 years! , death masks? , a Diana’s funeral commemoration cup? .
beyond grim is correct and I fail to see how anyone can defend this…unless it’s simply because they will excuse anything by someone who is attacking the king simply because they don’t like him.

It think they are playing safe a hagiography of QE2 and Charles 3rd and that's it for books on the Royals.

Well there obviously is still a great deal of interest in Diana or no one would give a fig about this book and there wouldn’t be duplicate threads about it on this board!

You can get a very good copy of his signed Eulogy on Ebay for £16 half the price of the shop if you want to save money.

In the 19th century death masks where a thing. There's lot for sale on Ebay they got home and though what the hell did we just buy and for 30 quid.

I'm not so sure. My 20 y o is 'Diana who?' She died a generation ago, I bet most young people don't give a toss. In fact I'm starting to wonder if this book is an attempt to rekindle interest in her so that people carry on visiting Althorp. MN is rarely representative of real life I find. Most of us are of an age to remember Diana.

Jesus.

The next king and head of COE said
‘rest assured we will forget her soon enough’

about the death of mother of his children and you describe it as ‘speaking out of turn’ !

I don’t believe the King said it. 🤷‍♀️
