Earl Spencer's book on Diana is stolen

Warning - DM link ahead...
Copies of Earl Spencer's sensational book about Princess Diana have been stolen from a lorry – just before its exclusive serialisation in the Daily Mail.
The memoir – Swan Song: Diana, My Sister – includes revelations about Diana's deeply unhappy marriage with the then Prince of Wales.
It also describes the crisis that engulfed the Royal Family after her death in a car crash almost 30 years ago.
Last night a publishing insider said: 'Earl Spencer has kept his silence for nearly 30 years and what he has to say about the King's reaction when Diana died is utterly devastating.'
But, in an astonishing development, the Mail can reveal that a truck packed with thousands of copies of the book was broken into after it was parked overnight in a lay-by in the Netherlands earlier this week.
Just four copies, which had been wrapped in black plastic to hide their contents, were stolen in what publishing sources believe could have been an audacious plot to steal the highly anticipated book of the year before it hits the shelves.

I think saying that (king) Charles hissed is strange 🤷‍♀️

Why?
We've all seen that hiss .

Remember the actual hissy fit - pun intended - over the pen when Charles was signing during all the folderol when he took over ?
He certainly hissed at the assistant! You tube it .

That is your interpretation

What ?
He hissed - look at the video .

saying “We will forget her” doesn’t make sense - of course her sons won’t forget her
saying the public will forget her makes more sense
who knows
big mistake though for the palace to counter this as CS is now doubling down

I remember at the time feeling very uncomfortable the boys were paraded out to look at the flowers after Diana died - I think the family didn’t have a clue what to do and forgot they were children

One other thought is the bitterness from Harry about his treatment in life could have been fed by his uncle not his wife - and this could have been going on for years

I would love to know why CS daughters are estranged from him ?

The family wanted to keep the boys at Balmoral to grieve in private. Public hysteria and the tabloids insisted that they were paraded in public.

Ukisgaslit · 18/09/2026 18:22

And there is absolutely no proof he didn’t .

The book is published . Charles made a statement about a book - unprecedented- yet did not deny saying it .

It is possible for Charles to be shocked then a matter of days later worked up about his own reputation .
We know he has a temper . He was certainly very concerned about himself and his own image during the funeral. Hence his angry phone call to Spencer who was resisting the boys walking ( to protect Charles from heckling ) and then Spencer reports what Charles said
I doubt he’d ever forget that .
Who would ?

Spencer’s eulogy made reference to Diana being remembered by everyone . That wasn’t remarkable at the time but certainly can now be seen as a response to Charles saying
’rest assured we will forget her soon’

You just make it up as you go along.
You write unverified information as factual.
Are you an advisor to Harry and Meghan?

Ukisgaslit · 18/09/2026 19:57

Is that the best you can do ?

Lol so do many posters on the other royal threads. Why single out this poster?

altesse · 18/09/2026 22:49

Singling out posters? Here? Nope.

I’ve definitely seen that elsewhere @LipglossAndLies

People usually get deleted for it though thankfully.

fuschiaproudparrot · 18/09/2026 23:26

Spencer probably got them stolen to stoke interest in his ridiculous book 😂

If Max Clifford was still around I would say it was one of his ploys to highlight the release of the book with the run-up to Christmas. 🤔

Yes. After all they can always print more copies, not much point in stealing a lorry load.

Yes I do.
If she was simply a rich person I would think her clothes are slightly boring, but lovely. But I would urge her to be more adventurous. But as queen she obviously tries to dress in a certain way.

She's not a clothes horse ! She does visits to charities etc and is dressed appropriately. The visits are what is important, the relevance to the people she meets.

That's a very misogynistic attitude.

Sigh. You attack me when I say she dresses well for her age and role??

Of course how people in the public eye dress matters. The king obviously knows that even if you don't.

This book is a tacky exploitative obscenity. Charles Spencer is clearly a bit short of money after his last divorce so decided to once again ruthlessly exploit his sisters memory in the same way that he did after she died by flogging tickets to the museum at Althorp.

He is pouring out 30 years of unsubstantiated bile about what happened and potentially defaming the King. The claims being made by Charles Spencer are just that..claims which are not supported by evidence.

Has Charles Spencer not stopped to think about the pain and distress he is causing to his nephew William with yet another vile tell all book. This poisonous book is just going to cause more hurt.

What did he think he was going to achieve by writing this thoroughly nasty book...apart from greedily raking in money.

I'll put you down as no then !

Lalgarh · 19/09/2026 15:44

David Dimbleby in the radio this morning.stuck the boot into Charles Spencer for claiming to be Diana's champion but denying her sanctuary at his estate when she wanted to stay there after the divorce.

I remember from that inquiry (?) all the horrendous stuff her older sisters and mother said to her as well, esp about that Pakistani heart surgeon she became obsessed with

A definite no....this vulgar obscenity is nothing more than a spiteful pile of vitriolic lies designed to rake in cash after his last rather expensive divorce. He is a greedy philandering hypocritical pig who refused Diana sanctuary on the Althorp estate before she died then spent the months and years after her death exploiting her for cash with his tacky Diana museum and flogging signed copies of the eulogy in the gift shop....

I don't normally like ai slop but this is particularly good.

Beyond grim is pushing it a bit. I would myself go for "tacky" and ill considered but then at least he is remembering her I've just looked at the Highgrove Gift Shop and nothing about Diana - erased from history. Now that is grim. Then I checked the Buckingham Palace Gift Shop. And there you have it the mother of the future monarch erased from history there as well.

If they did have anything with Diana on there would be outrage at them 'making money from her'.

Nah...I think beyond grim about covers it....its a really disgusting thing to merch and make a cash grab from...
As for Diana merch in the Highgrove and the BP gift shop, perhaps its that they dont want to be seen to be making money from Dianas memory and are trying to avoid merching off her, Diana will always be remembered by those who knew and loved her and she will always be remembered globally and I dont think a lack of merchandise in any way diminishes her memory.
