Why is Camilla always referred to as the Queen, when she's Queen Consort? Since the announcement of her title, I've never once heard consort mentioned, even by the BBC.

The words "consort" and "regnant" are traditionally descriptors (lower case) rather than part of the title, especially for queens. There have been exceptions for men: Prince Albert was Prince Consort; Lord Darnley, husband of Mary Queen of Scots, was designated King Consort. Victoria actually wanted Albert to be King Consort, but her governments and Parliament were not keen so she had to settle for Prince.

I agree. I think he quietly used the ' Diana was unstable' narrative too. She may have been but who wouldn't be? If William and Kate divorce the same thing will be said of her. It will never be Williams fault. ( not that I'm saying they will divorce I don't think they will- but hypothetically)

But it wouldn’t work with Kate because we have all seen how absolutely stable and drama free Kate and her family have been for over two decades.

Diana was absolutely spiraling out of control just before she died - it was a crazy time - and totally exploited by the tabloids.

And a lot of stuff that we didn’t know came out afterwards but if you lived through those years and watched the news and read the newspapers at all it was very clear she was making some wild choices that seemed intent on winding up the royal family and the establishment.

I did live through those years. She was running around after married men etc but she had been a teenager when she married and had basically been thrown under the bus by her own family and treated like shit by her husband and his family. I like Camilla and think it was a mistake marrying Diana but the Royals always win when they want to.

I don’t think they’d survive pissing off Kate though.

I lived through those years as well, but I am in the States and was not exposed to a lot of the tabloid coverage of Diana's activities prior to her death. But it is my understanding that much of her press coverage in the UK was very negative. Then she died and became almost instantly canonized by the press which fueled much of the public mourning and vilification of the RF. Watching from across the pond, I remember thinking that those were strange times indeed.

It's be like Catherine the Great. Original Royal family gone and Kate ruling supreme. She comes across as a wonderful kind intelligent supportive partner and future Queen but in my experience people like that one have a core of steel and if you do manage to piss them off you're toast. Remember the last minute walkabout after the Queen's funeral? Kate looked like Athena Goddess of War ready to strike at any second Meghan looked terrified.

Because she's the Queen 😂

It’s like Alan Partridge and who invented the skip.

Perhaps if we say it often enough…
