For some odd reason I heard my h listening to some stuff online today. It was referring to the fact that Harry has alerts set on his phone ( don't ask me how) and he is alerted to whatever article is said about them. I'm sure it's piffle. It sounds fishy but imagine if you were living your life like that.

Six years ago it was claimed in some quarters that Kate was responsible for the words 'recollections vary', she seems good with words if she was resposible.

It is understood that Meghan, 45, and Harry, 41, and their team will consider creating a new “framework that is fair” for media access to their engagements and coverage of their public work.

TLDR - H&M, by talking about their public work, were creating confusion, as they are private individuals and no longer have a role in public office; hence this clarification.

My personal opinion is that this will have been one thing among many, and that the letter was already, if not completed, on its final draft.

I agree. The pictures posted on the previous thread could have been AI or have very ordinary reasons for being taken in the first place though I don’t really understand why she had to get so up close and personal with the men in the first place. They look similar to the poses she used in her engagement video.

It’s that word “official”, isn’t it? They might be perfectly free to do all kinds of things but they won’t be official. That’s what HAM need to grasp.

If David Beckham attends a party or charity do, for eg, it’s not “official “ - it’s his private affair, and that’s the situation for HAM .

I don't know how accurate the letter from Queen Mary is in The Crown tv series but it contains an essential truth that Harry needs to grasp, well should have understood years ago but it's Harry. There is his fond, I'm assuming slightly soft, parent, and there is the King. In matters of State, in times when Harry insists he is a working royal still, when he talks about briefing the media about his activities, when he attacks the Justice system, when he wades into politics, that is the point when the fond father gives way to the King.

We needed the monarch, and the establishment, to draw a clear line and they did. I'm pretty sure that Andy Burnham was part of the discussion and is probably far less sympathetic to Sussex stunts than Kier Starmer would be. They do need to update the Royal website, and the palace needs to understand why that's important too.

Harry and Meghan wanted to be private citizens, to make money and do their own thing. They've got what they wanted. Harry is now no more part of the monarchy than Princess Andre. It's because he keeps trying to insist on his status that it has now been made clear that it exists only in his head.

That letter from KC is perfect. I agree with others who think it’s a form shot across the bows about titles as well as behaviour.

BBC is reporting it’s George’s first day at Eton today so maybe we’ll see something from them pretty soon?

They are pieces of gossip, where no names are mentioned but cryptic clues are given to the identity of the person. To avoid being sued I guess.

My take on the letter is that the Palace made it public because of the Smart Works story at the weekend. The Sussex camp leaked that MM was keen to become patron again, like she was before the Freedom Flight. This letter makes it crystal clear to charities like SW that if you work with the couple, it does NOT mean you are Royally endorsed. It's so good the King has made the distinction, because charities don't have the funds to roll out the red carpet every time and this way they can decide whether they want a meaningless photo op or meaningful backing.

It's basically unattributed gossip. Someone wants to put something out there, but doesn't want it to be traceable to them.

Private individuals supporting charities isn't meaningless @Passingthroughagain Famous people attending events boosts morale and helps the workers feel "seen" and can help get the name out there.
(Obviously royal visits are in a different league with even very sensible staff members getting excited 😊)
