I'd like to propose Battenberg-Cake as a surname, reflecting his heritage and her talent.

Telegraph report https://archive.ph/Wahav

Apparently the Times report (if anyone can share it) says that the letter was sent to the Sussexes on Tuesday.

Yet they were leaking since then. Maybe they assumed KC wouldn't make it public ??

damnatiomemoriae · Today 17:34

@Mylovelygreendress

that last post was in reply to you.

But it also says “Charles said Harry and Meghan's titles are in abeyance and they should not be treated as working royals.” 🤷‍♀️

The King's letter said nothing about titles, just styles, and specified that this means the use of the style HRH is in abeyance (HRH is not a title but a style).

Yeah, sounds like they've made a lot of assumptions.

And quite nasty leaks too, particularly about Catherine

Yes, that would work nicely ~ H & M next to Markle-Spencer. I would go shopping there . . . .

Oh that’s got to be it! So very British and redolent of quality too.

WingnutSOS · Today 17:39

H categorically does not want a surname. He wants the full cap doffing, bells and whistles, HRH Duke

cf “Prince of England”

Mylovelygreendress · Today 17:42

Any hope that KC would open Invictus Birmingham is probably gone . Oops.

MidlyConcerned · Today 17:45

smilesy · Today 17:30

Or Markle -Spencer. Or is that a bit close to the name of another bastion of Britishness? 😆😆

Edited

Brilliant!!!

I’m worried about what would happen to the food hall though. Would there be an influx of jam 🤔

Quite.
It’s all looking a bit grim for HAM isn’t it.
Maybe their title could be ‘Naice’.
Naice HAM Markle-Spencer.

I don't think there was any hope that he was going to open them, but the Invictus Games do present a more complex situation as they are a government-supported event and different countries participate with the assistance of their governments and/or ministry of defence.

It's good that this clarification was issued by the King as Harry has long used the Invictus Games to present himself as doing something "official" in various countries, and with the upcoming 2027 Invictus Games in Birmingham it's possible that there would be some confusion around his status, even within the British government.

Imagine the shame of being stripped of those titles and having to share a surname with disgraced uncle Andy.

Am I the only person who remembers that they are Sussex now?

No, unfortunately the jam sold out. But you're in for a real treat as the next product is rumoured to be Spiced Apple Butter to reflect the forthcoming change of season . . . . very nice on a toasted crumpet

Topped with Flower Sprinkles obviously

Not for much longer if the good citizens of Sussex have their way. I live in the next county and have heard rumblings, similar to the ones I heard when visiting York a couple of years back . . . .

Badvocthebad · Today 17:59

You have to say their timing was/has been horrendous.
A few weeks after flouncing off on their "freedom flight" the world shut down and people had far better things to concern themselves with than two very priviliged, wealthy 30 year olds.
Then the tv interviews and book...why tell such terrible lies that can be so easily disproved?
Then the bullying allegations from Kensington palace staff.
Then the whinging that H wasn't at QE11 bedside when she died and that M wasn't "invited".
Then, after all their viciousness and briefing against C (who H got on very well with pre M...) they were rightly criticised after she was forced to go public with her cancer diagnosis.
Then M trying to copy what KC has done with Highgrove and Duchy produce...just so transparent and embarrassing.
Then the King getting cancer.
Just think...
If they hadn't flounced and behaved so atrociously, they would have had the global stage they seem so desperate for. They would have been very busy deputising for the King and PoW. Their kids would have relationships with their cousins and 2nd cousins.
What a mess.
If I were W I would never let HaM near me or my kids again.
And I hope one of the first things he does as King is strip ALL non working royals if their titles.

Starryfifty · Today 17:59

H can still "help people" I'm sure. This was what he told his son when asked what his job is

Helping?

I don’t think hauling people up by their nipples is the same as helping folk to pull themselves up by their bootstraps.

jeffgoldblum · Today 18:03

Sorry ! Can’t help it!! 😁

Yes, I said on the other thread that that line really stood out for me too.

I wonder if they have been mooching around trying to influence govt departments? We know that Harry has repeatedly tried to lobby various Home Secretaries about his security nonsense, so it's entirely possible that similar shenanigans have taken place with other departments too.

BemusedAmerican · Today 18:05

He really helped those poor people who complained to African Parks.

M&S named the Windsor branch Markle and Sparkle for the wedding - so annoyed with myself for going now.

Inline with their views of their fathers and feminism maybe take Doria’s surname?

No, they're saving that one for their clothing brand . . . .
