Diana award dinner cancelled!Charlotte Griffith says (at the 24 minute mark) that the gala dinner fundraiser, scheduled for the 18th September is cancelled.

It was Harry´s "turn" to attend this year. The room was booked, the entertainer booked - but it was cancelled yeaterday. Charlotte says she will be digging into why it was cancelled.

If that's true, I would imagine W will be incandescent and I don't blame him in the slightest.

Whilst I expect William will be disappointed I don't think it will surprise him after the last 6 years and he seems too mature to let anything that his brother does for attention enrage him. He learnt a long time ago that people will use his mother for money whatever he does. Far better to hold onto his own private memories and honour her that way.

Just who is going to take part in this proposed documentary? I suppose the Spencers and Fergie , maybe some of her old friends but there will be nothing from BRF and therefore no pictures or film. Harry would also have to get permission from William to use his image too I would think.Some people I think would swerve it so I don’t think that it will have anything new or startling in it.
The woman died nearly 30 years ago, why can’t let her rest in peace?

This documentary rumour is just another one of these stories that are thrown out to get a reaction. Harry doesn't have the focus and work ethic to make a documentary. Everything he does needs someone else to organise it for him and I can't imagine whichever production company he may collaborate with will plan and write the whole documentary for him, find location spots, find the people to interview. That would need his input and he's too lazy.

I don't think William would be that bothered by Harry doing something about their mother, though. The entire world talks about their mother endlessly, so I'm not sure it would bother William if her other son did something about his mother.

MM is most notable by her absence around this project. She’s not going to be here. ‘PH’ (ie production team) could very easily cobble up a documentary from the decades of old footage with his own narration spun over the top. Very simple C5 type drivel that a reasonably competent sixth-former could pull together.

It would be brave (socially suicidal) old friends that contributed - only ones who knew they were persona non grata with the RF already - Ferguson (I expect she has plenty to say for the ££££a), Charles Spencer (but does he have to keep his other nephew sweet?), Elton John - not sure he’s up for lining PHs pockets.

But some montage with PH unhinged narrative spin over the top will be sensational enough to sell I would suspect.

I wonder if PH will proactively support CS book out next week in return for something from him - access to Althorp, an interview, archive material etc

We will see how sown up together or not they are when CS book is launched later this month.

I’m not sure that the entire world talks about their mother endlessly at all. I think Diana is not on the radar of anyone under 50.

If they do start talking about her - it’s a risk of kicking the hornets nest and a review of the reality that was hidden at the time - emotional dysfunction, media manipulation, multiple affairs with married / attached men begun before PH was 2 years old, serious fallings out with numerous friends and family.

A closer inspection might not be what PH anticipated. Maybe that’s why PW had the sense to leave her reputation in peace as it stands.

I wonder if H wanted to film (for his documentary) at the Diana awards & dinner. And maybe they said no we'd rather cancel than be used like that.

Similar to the Sentebale kerfuffle when the polo ground had to be changed, at great expense to Sentebale, because H wanted footage for his Polo thing but the original polo ground was only allowing him there for charitable, not commercial, reasons.

I've asked my DC (early 30s) and they have absolutely no interest in Diana whatsoever.
It's not the huge pull H thinks it is.

I’m not at all surprised if that rumour is true, I expect he will join forces with Charles Spencer to create a syrupy sanitised version of events where Diana will be portrayed as St. Diana the Wronged, the Hamlets will be introduced to the world as her only rightful grandchildren, and Meghan will be juxtapositioned as the new Diana. I would hope Diana’s true friends would refuse to take part but I’m sure there will be many of Diana’s old hangers on who will only be too happy to be a talking head. I wonder how Harry will wipe William and his children from the history books on this one and also how will KC and QC be portrayed, he still will want a nice fat inheritance…….

I wonder if he has asked Paul Burrell to contribute 😂

There's already a docuseries about Diana in the pipeline for 2027, led by Andrew Morton. Her friend, Dr Robert Colthurst has 5 hours of hitherto unheard (by the public) tapes that had formed the basis for the Andrew Morton book. No doubt full of juicy titbits about Charles and Camilla. Not sure Harry can top that, unless he's going to go full conspiracy theory.
