I've never commented on the Sussex children but if the reports are true and the boy is 'day boarding' then surely that is a response to the throwaway comment from Prince William that George is day boarding.
But Archie is 7??? That is a very very young age to start as a day boarder. It means you are there basically from breakfast to dinner and come home to sleep. I really wouldn't do that to a 7 year old unless they were doing some extra curriculars in school which meant that the coming and going would be disruptive.

Amusingly I've being watching the Sussex Squad on social media. They are clearly struggling to make sense of these things and the truly terrible PR from the Sussex camp. Even if she was in discussions about The Gentleman it was so badly handled. The constant speculation meant to keep them in the news just makes them look leaky. Some in the Sussex Squad think that the headlines are proof of their popularity and how much the monarchy needs them. That's an interesting re-writing of the truth that not a single venture succeeded in America and now they are coming back to be part of the same institution they publicly derided in an interview and Netflix.

Certainly not a 7 year old that didn’t go to pre prep and hasnt been slowly introduced to the ways of the timetable/school since the age of 4/5.

What if he hates it? Cant adjust? Or stuggles because his mum is constantly away.

It’s asking too much of him, placing the whole move of the family around schools.

There is also flexi boarding which means they can stay over a few nights each week, gradually increasing the nights until they become full boarders at 13 to ease them into Senior boarding school - which also has flexi boarding options. Uppingham, one of the last stalwarts of full boarding is now offering a day house and flexi boarding.

I wonder if Archie will go down a year? In the US he has just completed grade 1 and it sounds very stressful to adapt to a new country, new education system, "day boarding" and going directly into year 3 thereby missing a year.

He may do. But my money would be on him being put in his age group with private tutoring to catch him up with any differences in the curriculum, if necessary.

Funnily enough, I actually moved from an American school (private, v good) to a British school (private, also v good) at age 7 and went up a year.

Yes, but obviously no one from the Sussex camp could possibly comment on how these very specific details have made their way to a newspaper 🤔

typo

Edited

The Sussex MO is to leak shit themselves and blame it on the Palace.

Closer to the Cotswolds and likely the press pack are camped out at Heathrow

Although no idea why they announced they were coming today - almost as though they wanted to be tracked!

AFAIK I think they only announced the flight in retrospect - unless someone at Van Nuys had blabbed about passengers last night (an act that in that line of work would probably have been career limiting/ending) to outside observers that aircraft could have been going anywhere with anybody on board.

The details were redacted on the popular tracking sites such as Flightradar and Flightaware (in fact they still are)..it's only with the benefit of hindsight, press the press release and looking at some of the less regulated websites that you see the details.

Just for context I know Heathrow pops up bit in connection with this pairs travels but it rarely if ever accepts general aviation flights, private biizjets, it's got no spare capacity.

I am anticipating a lot of Mail articles that are positive about the Sussexes and vaguely critical of the Wales family. How else are they going to keep the clicks going? They've been positive about the Wales family whilst Harry was abroad but now they are all here they can play the usual tabloid game of taking in turns who they pick on.

It is all sound and fury signifying nothing.

Archie’s in academic cohort age 6-7 isn’t he - turned 7 a couple of months ago? Lily is in age 4-5?

J Kyle reporting that H will be a stay at home dad while kids are day boarders. Assume H will spend his days smoking week and playing Xbox. She will be in Cali. Has accepted a massive pay off. She will see kids occasionally.

H got one think right. Meg is Diana all over

Why do his kids need a stay at home Dad for goodness sake! They are at school and have nannies and staff!

Is this person, whoever they are, 'reporting' or just spreading rumours for clicks?

Let's not forget that none of these people had a clue about the 'great return' this time last week.

Haha, definitely not. One parent pretending they run a business selling jam that isn't jam and the other sits on the sofa all day doing God knows what...

Gameboy and YouTube I'm guessing.

Charles is said to be happy to be able to spend more time with the Sussex family, but remains adamant they will not be working royals

As so many have said, @treadrun, the issue there is that it's only too easy to imagine him whining about how much less of a misery it would make "his last years" if only William would play happy families

Of course I've no idea what William's view is, but all the same I'd be very surprised if he was happy to go along with that

That said I'm pretty surprised H&M have come at all, so I could easily be wrong about William too

I think you can take dogs on private jets more easily than you can travelling commercial. Don't know about quarantine generally, maybe they'll need to get checked over by a vet once here? But my friends have done this internally (USA) a number of times (it's not that much more expensive than first class domestic, especially if there are two families flying together).

Gameboy and YouTube I'm guessing.

And reading the MailOnline obsessively.

Ringing all his old friends begging for supper invitations.

Or, more sensibly, three months in the Priory.

I need to stop disappearing down internet rabbit holes, but it can be entertaining, especially when Lady Colin Campbell seems to be the source of the gossip.

There are not so many schools that offer pre-prep boarding - more usual from 8

AutumnCrowFlewOverTheCotswoldsNest · Yesterday 16:20

The ‘full-time dad’ malarkey could be camouflage for Charles & the MIGS finally getting him into a part-residential clinic though, I’m serious about that.

They’d have to explain his disappearance somehow - and being a SAHD seeking privacy fits the bill, kind of.

That could have been a mercy flight back to a private wing of a discreet hospital clinic.

Lady C has always maintained one of the kids was a surrogate

Archie is in the cohort that turns 8 in 2026-7 - so would be starting year 3 in England but would be in year 2 in the US

Lily turns 6 in the coming academic year so will be in year 1 but would have started Kindergarten this year in the US

I give her top marks for the Castle Goring refurbishment, but zero for her royal reporting on the supposed surrogacy. I think Meg looked pregnant and her body shape changed after childbirth. I’ll eat my cheese hat if HaM used a surrogate.
