Have the eagles landed yet? Another thread to discuss yet more Sussex shenanigans!

Looks like a pot of ear wax 🤢

I'm not going to click on the DM article. From what I can see, the words "thought" and "expected" have been used; typical conjecture around the Sussex circus.

Why have they had to announce their arrival? They could just quietly come into the UK. Everything has to be a drama.

I can imagine a scenario for Harry where he's based in the cotswolds bringing up the kids, with help from well adjusted nannies, and he could quietly establish some local friendships and feel he has a community.
He keeps the kids off social media and stops leaking to the press.

He and the kids build a private relationship with Charles.

Kids see Meghan when she flies in on a break from elevating fruit platters and the kids and Harry go out to california during school holidays.

They do this for 10years pretending it's a modern mutually supportive relationship and then eventually announce a separation.

It's exactly what Charles and Diana did - but in the pre-SM age they were able to go under the radar for much longer (and not releasing their every move to People magazine likely helped)

Charles and Diana
1986 - lived separate lives
1992 - formal separation announced
1996 - started and concluded divorce (filed for divorce in Feb 28/divorce finalised Aug 28).

It was a mighty handy distraction from the ANL costs announcement.

Bloomin’ Ada, they even came in on a private jet. You couldn’t make it up.

I was going to say I don’t understand but actually I do - they crave attention.

Or maybe the accent? Education was never that important to Harry, who is not overly blessed in the intellect department.

Doesn’t mean education isn’t important to Harry for his children. That’s very common, you must know of people who didn’t take education seriously or didn’t do well at it, but take it seriously for their children.

Perhaps even more importantly, we know optics and status is important to Harry. I also think he is traditional. I said this on another thread but a good British school has kudos and I wouldn’t be surprised if Archie goes to Eton in the future, with a good prep now to set him up for that. Then I predict university in the US.

And they have two parents; Meghan went to a very good university and according to her teachers at high school got grades. I imagine education is important to her, again if only for the optics.

I agree with you - and I get frustrated when people ignore his entire adult record and hark back over and over again to the young lad following his mother’s coffin.

He has never struck me as a kind person - I hated the nastiness in (the bit I read of) Spare where he’s so cruel about the disabled matron. It made a huge impact on me, coming from someone who is asking for understanding and empathy and pretending to care about mental health. If challenged, which of course he never was, I’m sure he be wide-eyed and genuinely baffled to hear that someone else’s feelings matter as well as his.

I agree - Harry never came across as kind

His "cheeky chappy" popularity was based on his banter/one of the lads persona which was a bit of a thing +/- 2000 with the lad and ladette culture in the media. Harry really played up to the role - not least drinking excessively and starting fights outside West End pubs (held back by his long suffering RPOs)

Problem is that Harry doesn't seen to have grown out of it 20-25 years later and often looks hungover when he turns up to events.

I wonder how easy he is going to find moving home if he expects his drinking mates from 20 years ago to be the same and just waiting for his return.

Choux · Yesterday 13:33

thenightsky · Yesterday 12:43

Surely it'd be more in her interests to stay in the US with her children and live there, let Harry travel back and forwards to see them?

I think its the British Education she and/or him are after.

It would be but they are out of options in terms of finances. They need KC’s money.

Plus after HAM flopping in California, the children’s best chance of a stable future - financially and emotionally- is returning to their British heritage. They need a British accent, education and understanding of the British way of life to be part of the aristocracy and the opportunities that brings.

Some of photos seem to have been taken from a boat eg those where M is on the beach but some of the ones where they are at the table are very good quality so perhaps not taken with a long lens?

This page has a wide selection of them. What strikes me is how few smiles are photographed. It’s a wedding not a funeral but H is only smiling at other guests, never at M and she is barely smiling at all. Not even at the bride on the beach. It doesn’t look like a harmonious couple enjoying a celebration.

The rumour at the time was that she blindsided Harry by turning up. She was invited as his +1 but the relationship ended before the wedding. But her invitation was never officially rescinded to she just turned up anyway. Meghan does have form for turning up to things

There were also other rumours at the time which I am more unsure about - that she told Harry that she was pregnant. As I say - I don't know- but it could explain Harry's stunned and bush wacked expression if true.

So that the media can "invade their privacy" of course - and HAM can complain about needing security

Maybe she likes the image of motherhood rather than the reality. And children get in the way if you are looking for the next Mr Right.

Exactly.
@AuntieBiotics whatever you think of her she does appear to be a devoted mum
I honestly don't think she comes across as a devoted mum. She's always focusing on their PR, for a start. Posting strange photos of their children to wind up total strangers in cyberspace.

She definitely wants to project the impression that she's a devoted mother, an entrepreneur, a beloved wife and dear, dear friend of many... but I don't buy it at all.

Archie would have to get sufficient Common Entrance marks and Eton is no walk in the park.

Stunned and bush whacked seems to be Harry’s default expression though 🤪

Sadly I think that is too much to hope for.

He would have to develop self awareness for that and it seems a little late for a complete change of personality.

Although a tiny bit of me wonders if he has begun to notice and dislike M’s deficits in how she relates to her children.

It would be one thing to excuse her behaviour to staff, his family, friends and even (who knows) to himself but quite another if she is as narcissistic as she appears to be in general towards her children.

It would become more obvious as they reach the sort of ages they are now and can express themselves.

If they fail to do her bidding and provide sufficient worship her anger may well be very unsettling for H to see.

I am not blind to Diana or indeed Charles faults but H had parents who loved him and were kind to him.

Watching M in action as a mother might come as quite a revelation.

Not saying this would be the only reason for the current situation at all, it is clear that finances, H’s loneliness and probably M’s desire to ditch her albatross husband are in play but possibly H is not that unhappy about his wife living elsewhere.

H’s loneliness and probably M’s desire to ditch her albatross husband are in play but possibly H is not that unhappy about his wife living elsewhere.

Is he really an 'albatross' though?

Yes, he's dim and emotionally stunted and I'd hate to be married to him. But without being the wife of a Prince, what does Meghan really have to offer? She's failed at nearly all her post royal projects and hasn't succeeded in breaking into the California elite. I also don't think she's an attractive prospect for a richer and more successful man either. So Harry is likely as good as it's going to get for Meghan.

I did at first think that the Great Return was a soft separation, and I've not entirely abandoned that idea. But I'm coming round to the theory that having failed in California, they're giving 'royal' life another try. Of course they could have had that 7 years ago, only on way better terms for them. It will be interesting to see how it pans out.

I don't think the benefits of a "British education" in H's eyes are anything to do with the standard of teaching. It's all about the social connections.

Archie isn't going to get a place at Eton. Not while Prince George and Prince Louis are there. Conflict of interest.

Yes and yes.

But he’s a 7 year old child who will be able to receive years of private tutoring as well as good schools. He has one parent who on the basis of the SAT score Meghan would need to get into Northwestern, is likely to be of above average intelligence academically.

I’m certainly not going to imply a 7 year old child can’t do well academically based on not liking his parents.

Nah - she's launching "spiced apple butter" - what ever that is??

It looks really unappetising (like 💩)

Looks like baby food. Maybe she's just watched that Diane Keaton film, where she builds a baby food business from her masses of apples. Baby Boom.

I definitely think they are going to try the get back in with RF. Separation not an option for Meg. She's Machiavellian and knows she needs H. Simple. If RF even attempt to try to rehabilitate this pair, it'll blow up in their faces
