Interesting from two people who put their kids on Instagram

Same old hypocrisy.

DandyAF · Today 15:42

Well it's possible MM could take on a theatre role and end up calling out of it as much another actress with the initials MM famously did at The National Theatre Wink

rocklivia · Today 15:42

Apparently Meghan’s being touted as this years entry for Eurovision and that’s the real reason for her return.

Yes it's a duet with Katie Price I hear.

BigWillyLittleTodger · Today 15:44

AtIusvue · Today 13:14

Well if we thought they were going to be a bit quieter and maybe focus on the kids now that they are in the UK…..nah

Day 1:

Are they going to release a statement on British politics every time there is something they don’t like?

I heard it was Peter Andre? It makes more sense if it’s Peter as they both love their kids.

I don't think it's possible to really grasp what it's like marrying into the British royal family. Diana and Sarah both struggled and they were both English and royal adjacent. Meghan had no background cultural knowledge and seems to have assumed it was like being an A list celebrity. Of course she also refused the support and advice offered which didn't help. I'm not saying that she didn't play her part in the debacle but Harry doesn't seen to have helped her at any point in the process. What a failure of a husband, he is happy to send a press release but that's the limit of what he is prepared to do.

Yes they are both deeply flawed it seems.

It would do them so much good if they stopped giving critics easy wins.

They really need to button it, they could get away with it whilst in America but they need to STFU now they are here and are using British titles gifted to them from the Head of State.

Ha, thank you for that! Grin As I said above, I strongly suspected theatre producers would be interested in having her. It's just makes business sense to me.

Stunt casting doesn't need to be at the expense of quality overall. You get in very good actors for other parts and a great, experienced director with at least one good AD and financially account for a generous rehearsal period.

How embarrassing to be a stunt - no doubt M won't even realise 😬

MyDogClive · Today 15:54

I can just about - at a very extended stretch - see M in a made for a soap star West End role. (I saw some awful ex-Eastender as Roxy Hart once), but even then I doubt she’d last the week.

I definitely can’t see her at the National. And in Meghan’s mind the great Shakespearean Actors aren’t the types she wants to be pally with anyway. She wants to be in Gwyneth, Nicole and Jennifer.

AustenitesUnite · Today 15:55

I so wish that Have I Got News For You was on at the moment ~ I would love to hear the panellists opinions of the Sussex saga . . . . .

myrtleWilson · Today 16:00

The NT have a public casting call for an iconic musical in 2027 including these two female roles - would MM have a playing age of 16 -25?

  • Role 1: Female, playing age 16–22, soprano, with strong ballet training. The National Theatre is particularly interested to hear from performers with Puerto Rican or wider Latin American heritage for this role.
  • Role 2: Female, playing age 18–25, mezzo-soprano, and an exceptional dancer with experience in ballet, jazz and Latin dance, including partnering work and lifts. The National Theatre is particularly interested to hear from performers with Puerto Rican or wider Latin American heritage for this role.

Songs that would be a massive wink to the audience reflecting real life familial disputes
"A boy like that who'd kill your brother, forget that boy and find another"
"A boy like that will bring you sorrow, you'll meet another boy tomorrow"

Songs that would reflect Meghan's eternal dream of landing the prize

"Could it be? Yes, it could
Something's coming, something good
If I can wait
Something's coming, I don't know what it is
But it is gonna be great"

And, the big finale

"I like to be in America...."

Funnily enough I half-joked about being able to see M as Roxie Hart on a different thread the other day.

The NT is famous for its new writing and modern plays. It doesn't do Shakespeare that often.

But I think if she is going on stage, it's more likely to be in the West End. Proper money, more flexibility with how long her run is.

Anyway, it's amusing to speculate.

He was also prepared to trash his family.
In spite of saying that they were the family she never had.

We do now know though how she treats her own family though 😬

But my point is that talent is somewhat irrelevant to being cast if you’re a huge name.

I seriously could see her getting a stage or screen role because of it bringing in bums on seats. If she was in the West End, I can bet at least a few people on this thread would try and see here (even if they wouldn’t admit it) just to have a nose. Because you can’t deny that some people an acute interest in what she does, even if it’s a negative interest.

Nah, I would read some of the reviews online and discuss them on these threads and we'd find it entertaining - for free. I wouldn't pay hundreds for a ticket to see her.

I can't see any stage production in the West End managing her security demands anyway. Even huge stars are expected to exit the stage door where they may or may not have a car and driver waiting. That's all there is the physical space for, and the pavements and roads out front are crowded. MM's required entourage (that she doesn't even need, fgs) would be impossible to arrange.

There's some theatres where it's possible. Not everyone is expected to exit by the stage door, some don't. There are workarounds.

But we'll see! She'll certainly get offers, it's just whether she takes them and it can be made to work.

IcedPurple · Today 08:33

What's stopping her from doing any of that now? Why would she succeed when 'free of Harry' when she's failed so far?

And do Americans really care about the fact that she's a 'Duchess'? Again, they haven't thus far. I don't see her booking any serious acting jobs either. She's not a good actress and creates a load of off screen drama. Why would anyone want to cast her?

A certain type of American does. Not the ones she originally wanted to impress and join (Entertainment A List & the Montecito Elite), but the ones she can make money off of a la Fergie. She isn't aiming for that market right now, her 'products' are a wee bit expensive for most of them. But she will.

I think what's stopping her now is wanting to 'keep Harry sweet' because I don't think she really wants a divorce right now. I think H still believes that they could 'return to the fold' in some form of HIHO and doesn't want to do anything to upset the Royal Apple Cart. So I think she wants to keep her 'status' as THE Duchess of Sussex, for now. Yes, I know she wrongly uses the 'form' of a divorced duchess. I may be wrong but I think her correct 'style' would be 'The Duchess of Sussex' without her name and she wants her name in there.

But of course it's all pure speculation on my part. Feel free to disagree or ignore me.

MyDogClive · Today 16:06

Jets or Sharks, Myrtle?

You mean the Waleses or the Sussexes, surely? Grin

Cocolapew · Today 16:20

Meghan can't act though. Me and DH used to watch Suits years ago, way before she and Harry got together.
I remember saying to DH she's very pretty but is a rubbish actor (as was one of the male leads).
Nobody is going to pay to come to see a London show just because of her, they might come to see the show that's she's in though.
She isn't a draw, tickets are too expensive to come just for a nosey.

PigglyWigglyOhYeah · Today 16:36

Meghan hasn't got the temperament for theatre acting. She is too thin-skinned and controlling - there are too many show by show variables, as well as being open to criticism every night and twice on matinee days. She would also be expected to turn up regularly, not suddenly flit off to emote and merch her outfits at some disaster or other.

I don't disagree with much of that but to a certain that's moot if she's not self-aware or doesn't realise the demands.

What I've been saying is I think it's likely she could be offered and take a role.

As I mentioned earlier with another actress MM, I think the reality could be that if Meghan does take a role, Meghan calls out sick a lot of her run ends empty.

But I think she might think she could do it and accept something.

LaMarschallin · Today 16:46

She won't take on a theatrical role.
Don't know if she can sing but she certainly can't dance. Even when she's shown video clips that she's actually chosen, she wobbles about looking uncoordinated.
Besides which, she'd have to appear regularly on stage which is which is much harder the dotting in and out of episodes.
She'd be asking the audience why they hadn't asked how she was <snivel<

FenellaFeldman · Today 16:50

Being in a stage production is very hard work, you have to show up every night and you have to be word perfect. It takes a lot of energy, effort and commitment. You can't let the rest of the cast down.
