This doesn't stand up to scrutiny though.

Why would William be more protected by the Press? He wasn't the heir, just the son of the Heir.

The tabloids had zero compunction about running multiple stories of the actual Heir and his affair, the whole Camilla-gate/tampn-gate was from hacking his phone (if you believe the "random guy with a CB radio picked it up by accident I have a bridge to sell you) and gleefully publishing all the details.
Also the Diana "squidgygate" phone calls, the reporting of her involvement with Oliver Hoare, Will Carling et al.

They also gleefully published Andre M-Ws exploits over the years - Koo Stark, Fergie's affairs, his involvement with Epstein.

William was photographed coming out of nightclubs, clearly drunk. Difference being he didn't start punching photographers.

The Press have never protected any of the Royals. If they have corroborated evidence they will publish. Especially not in the era since the 70s

This whole narrative about how William was protected but Harry wasn't, plus the whole "William is lazy" is just a fantasy cooked up by the Sussexes and their supporters to try to excuse Harry's - at times - appalling behaviour, and his own laziness.

Well said!

OMGFG will they not JUST STFU? And quite, they put their kids on insta!

Nobody gives a fucking shit what they say about Meta or anything, except, it seems the press keep reporting and so they keep spewing their half arsed opinions.

They are really insufferable and need to be reined it.

😂😂
Good luck with getting them to STFU! 😜

Once I got over my annoyance about the lies and racist claims made in OW , Spare etc etc , I started to see H and M as entertainment albeit the type you watch from behind your hands ! Lurching from pompous statement to clapbacks to embarrassingly bad programmes to ridiculous “ tours” . It was all hugely entertaining.
So long as they were safely ensconced in the US .
Now they are back in a blaze of publicity and I am no longer entertained but concerned about the impact this will have on the RF especially the Wales family .
I hope William is ignoring the shit suggestions about reconciliation and I truly hope that KC listens to the wise counsel of QC , Anne , Sophie , Edward , William and Catherine.
It should be possible to have a totally private relationship with H and the GDC.
The RF does not need the Sussexes . Their titles must be removed before they cause more embarrassment this time in the U.K. .

I agree. It isn't funny any more. I am so glad W&C have got the Middletons and I hope KC3/BP find a way to slap down the pressure on W to fotgive and forget.

I don’t think people would pay to see MM
act out of curiosity or “hate watching”. It’s one thing to pay a month’s subscription to Netflix and binge watch, quite another to shell out for a trip to a West End theatre.

But I don’t think it would ever come to that. As I’ve said before, Meghan isn’t an actor, she’s a fame seeker. She responds badly to any kind of criticism however constructive. I think she would find taking theatre direction very difficult.

ETA this thread is galloping away from me as usual so apologies for lagging!

But... that isn't like her role in Suits, at all????! Confused

Oh it is.
her ‘acting ‘ is just playing the one role regardless of story line or nuances.
she’s only any good at playing herself, which apparently didn’t go down too well when she recorded a cameo appearance for an as yet unreleased film. but reports are that they cut her part because she couldn’t even convincingly play herself.
But yes, she’s a screen icon that anyone would be lucky to have her name attached to their film or theatre performance.

IMHO, @MrsFinkelstein nailed it. H is lazy and so is M.

Take any of the Netflix/Spotify/As Ever projects and compare the publicity tours that HaM did to support their ventures versus other players in the entertainment industry.

Everyone else does the late night/morning show/podcast rounds depending on which audience is being targeted. For a lifestyle brand, it is inexcusable that M did not go on all three morning shows (ABC/CBS/NBC) and also key lifestyle podcasts. That is what everyone else does to push their projects!

While H's titles got HaM access to lucrative deals, execution was still required. Investors expected a return on their investment in HaM's project but instead faced steep losses. So, HaM is back to access the Bank of King Pa.

I think the problem with a west end play is the stamina. And this goes for anyone not just MM. And no retakes - whole thing perfect from the start. Also I think stage acting is different to film / tv acting.

Another of Basilisk's Elizabeth Taylor anecdotes

"Richard Burton was trained on the classical stage and initially found Elizabeth Taylor’s seemingly effortless, low-key approach perplexing. He even complained to director Joseph L. Mankiewicz about her apparent lack of traditional technique . Mankiewicz showed Burton raw dailies and footage of Taylor. Burton realized that her natural stillness, magnetism, and quiet intensity completely dominated the camera frame without needing grand theatrical gestures. Influenced by Taylor, Burton adjusted his craft, unlearning the projection required for live theatre to adopt a more intimate, subtle style suited for cinema."

I'm not saying MM is Elizabeth Taylor , just that film / TV acting is a slightly different skill , and some may be more suited to one than the other.

him in First and her in Economy

Such a gentleman. Not.

But surely as a mature, successful, independently wealthy woman she could have paid to upgrade her own ticket. I wonder how she usually flew at this time.

DandyAF · Today 14:59

@BasiliskStare oh yes stamina is important for stage and it does require different acting skills/style from screen acting. But there are some parts that won't necessarily have a lot of stage time where it could work.

I know I'm alone in this thread on seeing it as a possibility, and I'm quite at peace with that Wink

They probably intentionally flew separately to avoid being spotted and H was less likely to get away with it in economy!

At the risk of derailing, does
anyone remember the tv series “Masterclass” where famous actors gave a small group of students tuition on stage and film craft? Michael Caine gave an excellent class on how minutely it was necessary to perform when being shown full face on a big screen.

However PR expert Mark Borkowski told Hello that if Meghan did indeed want a theatre role, there would be interest from the West End.
“I know at least three or four West End theatre producers who would have her in a production tomorrow.,” he told the magazine.

You might be alone on the thread @DandyAF but not totally alone. Whether this is Sussex led PR dripping I have absolutely no idea.

BigWillyLittleTodger · Today 15:25

As if Meghan would appear as a mere employee in a West End stage show when she was previously gifted the position by HMTQ as Patron of the National Theatre!

Ha, thank you for that! Grin As I said above, I strongly suspected theatre producers would be interested in having her. It's just makes business sense to me.

Stunt casting doesn't need to be at the expense of quality overall. You get in very good actors for other parts and a great, experienced director with at least one good AD and financially account for a generous rehearsal period.

Mylovelygreendress · Today 15:28

Has Meghan ever done Theatre ? I have always thought she wanted to be rich and famous rather than a serious actor ?

I would love to see Meg acting, working, putting the graft in. Problem is, she has proved that she is not a hard worker. Podcasts - no research into her guests. Merely a platform to word salad about herself. WLM, zero promotion, foot work etc .....
