Come on. This is a Meg n Harry thread. Not how glorious William is.

@OrangeKia "I don't know what was on the post of yours in this thread that got deleted by MNHQ, but I can imagine it wasn't pleasant."

Wrong poster. That was BillysBoy, not me.

Apologies, I'll make sure I double-check user names and not mix up similar ones in future.

There may be one or two stories out there about W.

There are one or two stories about H.

Sorry - likely one or two hundred - about H.

I wonder how many stories have been quietly ignored about him.

Or her.

As for acting? There’s a panto horse for every occasion.

‘Young stallion’ and a rider. And their wee egg faced mouthpiece.

Giddy up.

I cannot bear these insults flung at William re his ‘Work Ethic’.
He served in the military - all three branches - and then worked in Anglesey and Norwich as a rescue helicopter pilot. He donated his wages from these roles.
During this time he became a father of three children.
We have seen how the Late Queen was propelled into the role at 26 and had not much time for her children -in fact, she had already left Charles and Anne for huge long periods while she lived in Malta with Prince Philip.
Charles has always worked hard and was -like Diana- not a hugely ‘there’ parent. The children boarded from 8 yrs old and were split between their parents in school holidays.
William simply was never going to do it like that. With the approval of The Late Queen and the then Prince of Wales he and Catherine have prioritised their young children. Louis is only 8.
No, he doesn’t do as many engagements as his father or Anne. But he also has the Duchy of Cornwall to attend to plus whatever behind the scene meetings. I expect he has also received more ‘training’ for the role of monarch than any previous one.
To the nasty -and yes, l do think you are nasty- people who critique his ‘work ethic’ I would say this. You don’t know what he does 24 hrs a day, He doesn’t talk about everything he does and it’s none of our business. He -unlike the rest of us- as he ages will only see his workload and responsibilities increase.
He will never retire. He will work till he dies -and don’t think it isn’t work. I suspect 3-4 hrs every day of the ‘red boxes’ becomes incredibly tedious and rather dull after a decade or so.
We all - nearly- are in agreement that he and Catherine are doing a great job with their children.
HE is the man who has -with the help of his wife & her family- broken the ‘generational pain’. I suspect his extended family has too. In no previous generation would a bluff Yorkshireman have been allowed to have the relationship with a Prince of Wales that Mike Tindall has.
Im 50-something (I can’t say it. I can’t bloody believe it) - my body is creaking a bit and I haven’t got anywhere near the energy I had 20 yrs ago. I can’t imagine thinking that my workload would be increasing massively and would be like that until I died.
For all of those who bitch about Williams perceived lack of work were you as vocal saying it was terrible how much the King and the late Queen, and Prince Philip do/did decade(s) after retirement age?? No. Thought not.

Did you mean to quote me? I wasn't talking about William, who I agree gets unfairly labeled workshy.

Baital · Today 11:31

PullTheBricksDown · Today 09:37

Yes this. Tickets for people who go specifically to criticise will still bring in money!

Plus there's a tradition of American film or TV stars coming to have a go at West End theatre - eg Nicole Kidman, Gillian Anderson

They are genuinely talented and with a strong body of work.

I think it’s a stretch to compare M's acting career with theirs.

I used to be a defamation lawyer working with or against papers, and I’m aware of a few stories about William that were pulled (as were RF stories not about him).

UK tabloids in particular absolutely would make a deal with a celebrity to run one story instead of a certain other. Eg a kiss and tell by a young woman when the real story was that the male celebrity was gay but didn’t want to be outed.

Newspapers would fight to publish stories of real public interest (ie not necessarily whether a pop star is gay) but a lot got pulled. Defamation law used to be more in favour of the person bringing the claim, and those with money and power would threaten litigation and get a lot of stories quashed.

I am not a Sussex fan nor living in the US.

This is a great post. Whilst many on this thread deliberately ignore anything that could go against their staunchly and Harry and Meghan and pro William and Kate, I appreciate the detail.

Of course negative stories about William are more likely to be blocked and pulled because he's the heir, this is what one or two posters don't seem to get, it's not comparing like for like. After Harry went rogue of course there would be even more stories because there wasn't the protection of BP against the media.

None of the royals are above criticism. And this is a discussion board that AFAIK isn't meant to be an echo chamber.

Harry has caused anguish to the UK? Steady on. That’s a bit hyperbolic.

I have no idea what he has supposedly done to the country?

Outside of these threads and DM readers, there are a lot of people who don’t really care.

H has thrown aspersions of racism on our current head of state and on the future queen,
That definitely damaged the UK’s reputation for a while and maybe permanently. He later sheepishly retracted, but the damage was done.

Did you really not know this?

You do realise the whole point of this thread is the PR disasters of Harry and Meghan. Actually the first couple of threads were specifically about As ever and other PR disasters.

It’s nothing to do with William or anyone else. This is NOT a generic RF thread.

rocklivia · Today 11:39

Hostamenace689 · Today 10:33

Really? Seriously? How does this “anguish” manifest itself? Are we all rocking and blubbering now Harry is back in town?

Most people have too much going on in their lives to care, and if what he has supposedly down to the country, something people find hard to define btw, causes anyone serious anguish then imho they need to develop a sense of proportion, because there are genuinely a lot more things about our country that merit that emotion, eg the levels of homelessness and children living beneath the poverty line.

Well that's quite an exaggeration. People can juggle many things but can still comment on things like this. It doesn't mean they are devoid or less knowledgeable about other things.

Actually going by the headline alone, I thought it was a general RF PR disasters thread. I did then realise it was about the Sussexes yes, but many posters were bringing William up as a positive, so it's only naturally that one or two would say well actually...

The poster I was responding to was responding to people saying there haven't been more negative news stories about William because he has essentially kept his hands clean - and its not as simple and that's not necessarily true.

So if William shouldn't' be discussed here, he shouldn't be mentioned by anyone.

SweatyWarrenBetty · Today 11:45

FenellaFeldman · Today 09:05

Wild supposition is not fact.
You make claims that William was as bad - nay! Worse than Harry?!
How come there is no evidence? How come, out of all the nasty, unpleasant, vile accusations Harry has made about his own brother....this isn't one of them?.🤔
How come no-one else claims that other than Sussex fans on here?
You're not going to make Harry look better by trying to make William look bad.
It's really not convincing! 😂

It's highly likely that William is the not the saint the media portrays him as. But we don't need - or want! - to know about it. He's going to be the next king and there's nothing we can do about it (other than assassination or becoming a Republic - both controversial). May as well let the MIGs do their PR so we can live in happy ignorance (if that's the case). They are very skilled at it.

twatwrangler · Today 11:49

But but but but but…

For me? I think sometimes it is easier to cast shade on others because some find it impossible to argue the very valid points made about the chosen two.

It may seem so much easier to deflect.

It just confirms my opinion that the special ones are both nigh on impossible to defend.

I suppose it could be called an echo chamber of sorts.

One with vast swirls of truth in it.

Oh I absolutely want to know about it precisely because he is my future king.

By that reasoning, do you think Charles's affair with Camilla shouldn't have been revealed?

I am very glad that the accusations against Andrew came to light and angry that the then monarch clearly was complicit in covering up his abusive actions.

I don't want to live in a monarchy where there is no transparency about the actions of the Royal Family.

"The media" (sic) have never once portrayed William as "a saint".
In the UK we have many news outlets, it's not a hive mind. I've seen critical pieces in the Guardian and the Independent about William, and the BBC news rarely gives him credit for his positive activities, unlike their coverage of the Sussexes Australian tour.
It's a complete myth that in any "media" William is a saint and Harry is a sinner.
I think his fans should realise that Harry has brought this on himself, and trying to trash William is really very silly. They should really read what id actually said about both men.

No it absolutely isn’t. It’s a long running thread specifically about Meg and Harry PR disasters. The reason why it’s ran so long, is because there’s always a story to discuss with them.
Yes, other royals will appear in discussion but it’s often used as a tactic to derail by some posters.

Absolutely. Which is why William is never portrayed as "a saint"!
Also "the media", fortunately isn't some amorphous mass, all saying the same thing!

twatwrangler · Today 12:02

I too would like transparency about the RF.

So we have mentioned the King andd Queen. William. AMW.

Wonder who we could do next?

Perhaps we could have full transparency with the two that seem so desperate to cling to the monarchy.

I feel that there is much that has been kept quiet. Him certainly. And quite likely her.

You will note that I was quite specific in what I said.

I have no doubt that there have been stories pulled about many royals, including William, for reasons that a defamation lawyer will be familiar with.

I am also sure that a celebrity could agree that one story about himself could run instead of another story.

What I was referring to was the misunderstanding that has cropped up on several occasions on these threads, that the 'UK media' acts as one entity, and acts in a similar way to US celebrity productions.
