Meghan has been offered a part in series 3 of The Gentleman, by Guy Ritchie?

Of course, you were in the room where this happened….?

Eh? Why so snarky?! Meghan said it during her engagement interview!
The suggestion from the late Queen was commented on by Harry, among others.
It was Meghan's decision, I don't know why you have a problem with that . Her choice.
Good grief.

Fair point, she has put herself out there and given things a go. They've generally fizzled out or she hasn't managed them well - thinking of the jam here. Harry, however, has only had fake jobs in the USA that are evidently only given because of his title. If he really wants to leave the restrictions of his birth family behind, he should try getting a real job on his own merits, whatever they are.

I agree. People on here being snarky about her choices ("were you in the room?") don't seem to apply it to Harry.
At least she's tried to get a job, tried to develop stuff - he's not shown much progression at all.

Surely those comments are parodying Hamilton, given MM is an actress?!

Sorry, I don't understand? Hamilton?

What 'previous career'?

She had a part in a series that ran for 2 seasons in USA

9 series

Hamilton - the most fabulous musical with the main song being about being in the room when it happened?!

Sorry, I haven't seen it so that's why I didn't understand the reference.
I thought the poster was just being rude!

Not really her vibe, perhaps something more contemporary?

I’m a Celeb maybe? 🐛🕷️🪳

Tickingcrocodile · 21/08/2026 23:14

Sounds like a good idea. She should probably have kept it up all along, but maybe there will be some demand for her to do "guest" parts because of her being well-known now.

There's no verified answer. Seems to be unsubstantiated?

.. But anyway, so what if it was "only" 138 minutes? Doesn't mean she's unsuccessful or doesn't have a career....

Pedro Pascal had less than 30 minutes in GoT despite being the anchor for the most famous storyline.
Orlando Bloom had 17 lines of dialogue in LOTR - doesn't mean he isn't a successful actor

Yeah, it’s a made up internet myth now spouted as fact. The maths isn’t mathing anyway. She was in 100 odd episodes (108??) , that means less than 2 minutes per episode. Considering quite a few of them were focused on her story arc, career, relationships and wedding , never mind just being a supporting character , it’s mathematically impossible.

Egertion · 21/08/2026 23:18

merryredfly · 21/08/2026 20:56

Now I didn't watch it.
I never even saw it advertised, so it couldn't have been that "massive"!

It broke the previous all-time single-year record held by The Office and also outperformed massive hits like Friends, The Big Bang Theory, and Grey's Anatomy.

I guess you don't watch TV much...

Isn’t this what HMTLQ had suggested should happen in the first place, (ie that she should continue her career if she wanted)?

I suspect HMTLQ saw quite early on that she wouldn't cut it as a working royal and was giving her an out.

I've no objection to her working, but I think casting her in a serious drama would look like a gimmick. She hasn't done any acting (as opposed to presenting) for 8 or 9 years and then only in a supporting role in a minor tv series - there must be actresses with a more up to date cv and better track record than hers who deserve to be considered ahead of her.

I expect that the reason for casting her is to increase the viewing public's interest in the third series.

dustabsorber · 21/08/2026 23:35

Whatever she does will attract even more ridicule onto the Royal Family if that were possible.

Not if she has a serious role in a serious production.
But as I said before, I'm afraid it might look gimmicky - that she's being cast just because of who she is.

Yes but they are well established at times box office actors. She never was.

Only if you spend your days/nights/life on Royal Watch. Her existence has never impinged on my life in any way apart from these threads entertaining me in my downtime

She had a lead part in Suits which ran for 9 seasons and she was in the first 7 before she left for Harry....but sure, yeah bit parts 😂

Markle obviously needs the money to pay her moronic husband’s legal bills. When this project inevitably flops, there’s always OF, I suppose.

Now THIS I can see her doing. She'd be an OF superstar

Normandy144 · 22/08/2026 06:38

merryredfly · 21/08/2026 20:51

Not according to my friend who lives in USA.
She was written out when she married Prince Harry.

Yes she was written out after 7 seasons. What's wrong with that? She started in the show long before she met Harry. What's wrong with that? She wouldn't be the first actor to be written out of a show because they want to do something else.

Lifestooshort71 · 22/08/2026 06:44

They obviously need to earn serious money so I don't see why people have a problem with her getting an acting job. Have we heard what work plans H has to fill the coffers?

Well, quite!

r0ck · 22/08/2026 07:07

This is what she was doing before she met Harry (successfully - I was a massive suits fan when it came out and she was no bit part!) As much as I dislike them I think it’s fair enough for her to return to it and make some money. If they don’t they’ll be criticised for sponging off the king and at least this is an honest and kind way of earning some money, unlike trashing your family in public 😳

MarieAntoinetteQueenOfFrance · 22/08/2026 07:14

I would prefer her to have a proper job / career and earning that much needed money.
I mean what is the alternative? More slanging matches with the media, extended family and everyone in-between?

JortsNTeeShirt · 22/08/2026 07:14

Good for her. Why not?

The misery brigade will, of course, be out in full force saying she’s a crap actress / attention seeker / bad mother / evil person <yawn>.

Maybe she’s just thinking ‘right, we are moving back to my husband’s homeland, the kids are school age, it’s a new opportunity for me to do something interesting/fun’?

She can pretty much do what she fancies. If she fancies a return to acting, more power to her to her, I say.

WarriorN · 22/08/2026 07:15

Oh I seem to have missed series two. <runs off to catch up>
