The royal family

Can we allow Harry and Meghan a clean sheet

Just that really.

When they come back should we just judge them by their future behaviour, not the past and try to be positive.

After the events of the last few days with Jason Arday it might help the RF if the media and social media allowed them to get on with things in a positive way. Frankly the only person who should be aggrieved is the Princess of Wales and maybe the King but he clearly want peace now what with his illness.

Let’s see if they can be positive and an asset to the UK and the RF.

Not sure why they need a clean sheet as they’ve done nothing wrong. I read Spare and couldn’t see anything scandalous in it. 🤷🏻‍♀️

I hope they enjoy being back in the UK.

Yep agree.

They have opinions about their own experiences that I’m not sure I’d view in the same way but I definitely see their point on the some aspects of the British media and the absolute poison it is capable of producing.

Couple that with the obvious dysfunction of the Royal family who in spite of being really nice and upstanding people were historically as emotionally repressed a family as it gets.

Harry and Meghan have done nothing that Charles and Diana didn’t during their absolute chaos phase of life.

Maybe when they apologise to the British people for calling us racists.

And for causing terrible distress to both the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh just as their lives were coming to a close. So heartless and selfish.

It will depend upon how the media is briefed as to whether they receive public support.

Change their ways how?

I mean, they were told to stop relying on “taxpayers” so they did that. But every attempt they made at bringing in money they were berated for. They were told to make amends with their family, to visit the ailing King, but every time they did they were told they were doing it wrong. They were lambasted for not showing off their children, but whenever they do, they don’t do it right. They are told to stay out of the limelight but their every move is dissected whether they want it or not.

Nobody wants them to act in any way other than what we have come to expect by the royal family, and yet everyone wants to claim they aren’t real royals so how dare they use their titles.

People are annoyed and upset about them laying bare what it can be like to be within the royal establishment, but Diana did the same thing and she was beloved. So much so that people still believe the establishment killed her. We hear comments all the time about concerns for Catherine being so thin and how is her life affecting her, but nobody joins the dots when Harry claims they got out before Meghan went down the same path?

There is a willingness to ignore the long known truth about each principal’s PR teams working against each other to vilify their “competition” but when Harry is open about it he is accused of lying.

People are happy to ignore the horrific actions of the family in protecting Andrew, their links with the likes of Saville (something King Charles has never addressed), Mandleson, Peter Ball.

The cognitive dissonance when it comes to Harry and Meghan is astonishing and nobody has ever been able to quite explain why.

The fact is, they can’t win no matter what they do.

Well said

Backtoschooloncemore · 20/08/2026 16:16

Surely the lesson from Arday is we shouldn’t ignore lies and build up false idols but rather tackle them as soon as they are told?

But they won't be. There are clicks and money in headlines about William being furious about his dad inviting H to this and that, or KC3 being mean for not inviting H to this and that.

Every year there's been the Balmoral/Sandringham will-they-won't-they which keeps the clicks coming, and many a MN thread rolling. From now on it will be that on steroids.

Somehow, KC3/ Dad managed to keep the last visit private. I hope whatever carrot or stick he wielded then is good for ongoing, unleaking relations between him and H.

ETA " unleaking"

So what? There's always rubbish in the press about the royal family. Before Harry, it was the whole Diana saga. There's nothing new here, except this is much tamer than the Diana saga. Before the Diana saga, the young Prince Edward was the favourite tabloid punching bag. There's also the long, drawn-out Andrew and Fergie saga. Before all them, Princess Margaret had her tearaway phase. Before them it was Edward and Mrs Simpson. Edward VII was a notorious playboy throughout Europe as Prince of Wales.

Just ignore it - like William does, and he's much saner for it.

No, she was killed by a drunk driver and by not wearing her seat belt.

Did they cause "terrible distress"? I doubt it - mild embarrassment and annoyance perhaps.

Correct. Diana was no stranger to using the press to her advantage when it suited her.

SirChenjins · 20/08/2026 16:26

If they keep their heads down and stop bleating or causing drama then absolutely - I'd be delighted if they led such boring lives and stayed away from SM that they gave the press nothing to report on.

Truetoself · 20/08/2026 16:26

Exactly! I loathe the British media who seems to rule the country. However, H&M need to learn to never explain and never complain and the media will soon find a new “toy”

Not when Charles dies.

Well William is the heir now! Google it if you like! 🙄

What a silly argument, The heir to the throne is WILLIAM. Not George!

May as well say Charlotte is heir to the throne, because William will die in about 40 years! And George will die in about 80 years.

The lengths people go to on here to try and be right (when they're NOT) is farcical

I'm not responding to any more silly posts about this.

William is next in line to the throne, heir to the throne, not George!

Fact.

Some British people are racists. Some of the RF may be , we don’t know.

No, she was killed by a drunk driver and by not wearing her seat belt.

At the point at which she died she was being chased by paps, though. They didn't cause her death, but they were hounding her as she met her death and that contributed to the situation.

To hound - to chase, pester, or relentlessly harrass someone without stopping.

Given they've dined out on their woes for years, this has an awful stench of back track about it.... they are either broke or desperate. Or both.
