Can we allow Harry and Meghan a clean sheet

Just that really.

When they come back should we just judge them by their future behaviour, not the past and try to be positive.

After the events of the last few days with Jason Arday it might help the RF if the media and social media allowed them to get on with things in a positive way. Frankly the only person who should be aggrieved is the Princess of Wales and maybe the King but he clearly want peace now what with his illness.

Let’s see if they can be positive and an asset to the UK and the RF.

Yes absolutely. And its perfectly ok for them to court the press for any of their philanthropic endeavours.

I will welcome them, and give them a clean sheet, and let them start over if - as some posters have said - they apologise for their behaviour, and accusing the British of being racist. Britain is NOT a racist country, and it pisses me off when some people say it is.

They also need to live their lives as quietly as possible, be polite and courteous and not keep blabbing to the press and fecking sueing people!!!

I think most people are OK with them returning, as I believe many people loved Harry - before he married Meghan and buggared off to another continenent and spent 5-6 years badmouthing his family and the whole of the UK! And I think some people liked her at first...

So yeah, they can come back, but they have a lot of making up to do to win the UK public back, and get back into our good books.... They don't get to pretend they didn't behave appallingly, and they can start their journey to forgiveness from the UK by apologising for their behaviour over the past 6 years....

.

Are you living under a rock? A huge.number of people are racist in this country. Especially the right wing media. If you think otherwise then im sorry you are a fool.

Honestly people these days use the words relentlessly hounded I lived through the diana era she was literally hounded to death they let the same thing happen to catherine to a point camilla had it too princess ann literally was held at gunpoint with meghan they protected her very early on William put out a statement supporting his brother in a request for privacy nothing is ever good enough for harry

I did too and agree that everything you say is very true.
And as far as the last sentence is concerned I suspect it all comes down to that extra sausage for William at breakfast all those years ago 😥.

If they keep their heads down and stop bleating or causing drama then absolutely - I'd be delighted if they led such boring lives and stayed away from SM that they gave the press nothing to report on.

Yes they could have their own clean slate. Stop using people for content and stirring.

Ilovemyshed · 20/08/2026 16:56

No. Actions have consequences and stories and words don’t go away. The nasty things they said and the hurt they caused do not deserve forgiveness.

AgnesMcDoo · 20/08/2026 16:59

If they lead private lives yes.

if the use the media to generate money then they are fair game

Noras · 20/08/2026 12:34

I guess I drew parallels to the Arday case as there have been allegations that the media hounded Arday ( although he did court the publicity it seems)

Harry believes and there is some evidence that Meghan was hounded as in avocado gate ( both Kate and Meghan eat them but Meghan got accused of destroying the planet).

Catherine got dreadful media as did her parents.

The media will publish negative stories about a new person in the spotlight. Just because the criticisms aren't the same doesn't mean different standards.I think Catherine got much worse treatment, especially during her absence. However she doesn't play or claim to be a victim.

If you court the press and public don't be surprised when it's not all favourable.

A clean sheet needs to start with some acknowledgement of the accusations H&M made.

Utter bollocks.
They said to Oprah that Archie wouldn't get titles because of the colour of his skin.
You can check what they've actually said. Not what you imagine

It's not hard to find. Look up "Oprah interview".
🙄
If you think Harry and Meghan haven't lied, I've got a bridge to sell you.

I agree! MM were very definite on this. Said they couldnt be Prince and Princess when in fact if I was kind I would say she was misinformed. If I was telling the truth she was stiring it.

She came into the RF thinking she could throw her weight around, have pet projects and do and say what she liked. When the Royal Household said we dont do things like this she accused them of being racist. She has fallen out with her family, with his family, there were bullying accusations where the findings were sealed. Her staff members in the last 5 years have lasted 5 mins.

There is a pattern here.

She is poison. Everything she touches goes wrong and backfires in her face. She plays the victim all the time. She can stay in the USA.

She is clearly out to cause trouble.

Mousespoons · 20/08/2026 17:20

For me it is about Catherine, who I was always fairly ambivalent about before all this happened, but I do have increasing respect and admiration for as time has gone on.

In their own books and interviews they made her sound cold and snooty (wouldn’t take Meghan shopping, didn’t share lip gloss while pregnant, made Meghan cry when she tried to advise Meghan about wedding tights etc) Harry implied William didn’t marry her for love in his book.

Catherine herself was a mother of 2 with extreme pregnancy sickness when Meghan joined the family, had to attend a wedding in front of the world barely a few weeks post partum, while shepherding two small children in front of the worlds media. No wonder she had little capacity for all the drama.

they accused members of the family of being racist, allowed an author to publish that if was Catherine and never refuted it, just some mealy mouthed interview blaming the media and waffling about unconscious bias. They never once renounced their horrible sussex squad fan club (sending them jam and invitations to events) while these fans subjected Kate to intense online bullying during her illness. They never once called it out, only complained that Meghan was the most trolled woman on the planet.

So until they apologise to her (and William) I find it very difficult to wipe the slate clean in my mind. For me it was downhill from Oprah.

Harry said the rest of the RF were jealous of M because she was better at being a 'royal' than them 😂

PropertyD · 20/08/2026 17:35

Where on earth did Harry get that view from?

You need to stay away from toxic people. They will bring you down and then claim to be a victim.

Yes. He's said a lot of stuff. A lot of it utter bollocks.

I can’t forget the misery they caused the late Queen and Prince Philip in their final months of life after a lifetime of service.
They are nasty, selfish grifters.

You need to watch the interview. However, if you think they're above reproach there's really nothing more to say.
Would you like to buy a bridge?.

I have watched the interview. I also read the transcript. They did not say what you are claiming.

Where did I say they were beyond reproach? I’m a believer of forming opinions on actual facts rather than flawed media narratives. I don’t know them, they might actually be the worst people in the world, they might be all the things everyone wants to claim about them. But until that is actually proven by the actual things they say and do rather than something “a source close to them” said, I’ll keep an open mind. Harry’s memoir opened up a window about how he felt within the family, that’s his lived experience. I’d love to hear the alternative view from someone who thrived in that environment, that would be an interesting read. We know that the other most famous spare has some issues over her life, facing many of the same scenarios that Harry did, and yet in the end she defended the family. Her own story would be a fascinating read. From a mental health point of view, it would be a good subject to explore.

I’m more interested in the reasons people choose to take sides, believing everything they read. The media narrative that saturates everything is “William = good, Harry = bad.” That has always been the case to an extent but it ramped up massively when he met Meghan. If we go back to when William first met Kate, he was doing something unthinkable, potentially brining a “commoner” into the family. The way the press treated Kate and her family was appalling. She was hounded and abused, and yet now she is perfect. William said absolutely nothing publicly about that at the time, he didn’t defend her much, or stand up to the press. Indeed, he appeared to distance himself from her for a while. At no point was he accused of doing anything wrong by considering doing something so terrible to the Royal Family. Yet in Harry’s choice of partner, he was as much the problem as she was. Arguably his partner is way less important as she will never been Queen, so what is it that makes it so terrible that he was brining her into the family. Nobody has ever been able to explain that, other than to make up things that neither of them ever said or did.

People use the Oprah interview as if that is their origin story, ignoring everything that happened before then. Why would that be? It simply doesn’t make sense that so many people so ardently hate a couple who they don’t know, unless there is something else going on that I don’t know about.

Not when his father dies, he will be William V.

You really think she wasn’t hounded? Were you living under a rock at the time?

WildGarlicSoup · 20/08/2026 17:52

I think it's highly likely that this has all been planned for a long time and agreements and contracts are already in place. I think it has probably been agreed with the press to leave them alone. I think H&M have probably agreed to certain things, also, and probably had to sign contracts as part of this return.

I don't personally believe that KC was 'blindsided' by this (but applaud him for welcoming them back). I think deals were struck and conditions set. I think H&M's image is undergoing rehabilitation.

I think they'll stay low for a long while but eventually H will do some Royal duties again, in time. All carefully orchestrated.

I really do hope they will all be happy in the UK. I think a lot of people love the drama and a go on social media (Facebook especially). I lot of the vitriol is ridiculous; people should want a family to be happy and not to be estranged from their own extended family members.

I hope the UK will welcome them back and forgive whatever 'wrong' they feel H&M did to them personally (which is nothing as far as I am concerned).

Quite. Some people, however, do not accept that H&M have done anything which can be criticised, which is always a puzzler! It's a shame because it does limit what could often be an interesting discussion.
I find H&M very intriguing.

Do we know that H&M caused 'misery' for QEII and the RF? QEII was a strong, wise woman who knew that the whole world knew the truth (i.e. one word: Commonwealth).

It's obvious and anyone who pays attention to RF news/gossip knows this: 'Project Thaw' for one thing.
